I argue that understanding science (not vague theories like evolution) can bring us closer to Allah Azzawajal. I learned to connect science and Islam from the late Dr Israr Ahmed, I remembered his statement that science is a gift from Allah to mankind. SubhanAllah! There is nothing called "Scientific fact" When muslims say that science has nothing to do with our Iman we mean that it is a man made methodology to understand the natural world and therefore flawed! Trying to connect Allah's perfect religion to our flawed understanding of the natural world is problematic! And can create a lot of shubuhat because sciences understanding of things keep changing therefore nothing is ever certain and therefore not a fact.

    Excellent video brother...
    I would like to share a simple way in which a layperson like me think about this:
    Some of the underlying assumptions of doing science:
    -Reality exists
    -We have rationality
    -Contradictions does not exist
    None of these assumptions can be proven using science, because science already relies upon this. And doing so would be circular
    This is the simple reason why I believe that science is just a tool to use the human limited capability to observe the patterns that already exist in universe, which is good for developing working models, but it cannot be used as an ultimate source to explain reality

    • @mpetkovic26
      @mpetkovic26 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good, now you got infinite posabilities as what ultimate source is, and regardles of what ultimate source is you choose to call it Allah(in that case you might not be muslim), and if you dont think anything can be that ultimate source then you have ~100% to be wrong. Also speaking about quantum fluctuations, Sean Carroll explains a misconception about quantum fluctuations, it's not a phenomena which sub-atomic particles comes to existence, rather it is the appearances of particles. The particles are moving fast in the space so when we look at a specific place at one time it is a matter of probability to see it or not. In other words sometimes the particles are at the spot the we look, sometimes they don't.

  • @sameednaama

    Assalamu Alaikum brother, I have a question.
    You said that length of a physical object has to be made up of discrete, indivisible chunks because otherwise we would have infinitely many infinitesimal chunks of no length which can't add up to any length at all.
    But does calculus not show us otherwise? In non standard analysis, we actually do have infinitely many infinitesimals "adding up" to some finite (non-zero) number.
    Now, I understand that numbers are mental constructs, but even then there is no reason for us to assume that these mental constructs don't have a correspondence with reality.
    Am I incorrect in my contention? If so, how?
    Jazakallah :)

    • @AbdullahalAndalusi
      @AbdullahalAndalusi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'll accede to your contention if you can demonstrate where these infinitesimals are. You see, mathematics is formal, based upon rules. The rules don't show infinitessimals exist, only that we can imagine they exist behind the rules we use. However, there are no infinitessimals, just rules. I could say that chess shows infinitessimals exist because you have to move a chess piece an infinite amount points to get to a finite distance. But in reality, that isn't really happening, but infinity is defined as that which can be exhausted. And so, as Zeno demonstrated , this causes paradoxes when applied to reality.

    • @sameednaama
      @sameednaama 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@AbdullahalAndalusi So, infinitesimals exist logically (in the form of a bunch of axioms that govern what we can do with them) but not ontologically. Moreover, it is not that we are assuming that these mathematical objects have no correspondence with reality, but rather we can show that they can't have a correspondence with reality because otherwise, we will have absurdities like Zeno's paradoxes, Hilbert's hotel, etc.
      Thanks a lot, brother. I understand now :)

    if you leave rational thinking at door you cant do science because even the experiments are done with rational thinking and we correct our theories by using reason if they dont agree with experiments but to know whether the experiments agree with our explained mechanisms we need rational thinking.The most notorious person i had seen regarding this is lawrence krauss he just makes fun of deductive reasoning but somebody should remember lawrence krauss that mathematics is mainly deduction and the same math is language of physics.

As in energy cannot be created or destroyed. The only time we experience is the now . Which people call the eternal now. The question does existence need a creator or is existence/ god the whole of everything?

    The reason a lot of these ideas that were hypothesized in thr past but not accepted during their time is because there was a lack of physical evidence. After this evidence was produced, the beliefs became much more widespread. I don't understand the point of this video. You frame ideas that eventually were discovered to be true with the analogy of the anchor and the lake, but this is subject to two different problems. The first one being selection bias in which ideas in the past were picked. Had you picked an example that was found to be false, this would be akin to the rational man on the boat thinking theres a hole that goes through the earth and thats why theres no bottom. The second problem is that our mental model of how the universe works does not line up with how the universe actually works. This is evident in all the once thought to be scientific truths which are now known to be false.
    You can't make a claim that the nature of the universe is intuitive when we can't even agree on how that universe works. Youre equating the complexity of the universe... with a lake? You can't even get the concept of a limit right, how are you talking about this like an authority on this subject?
    This video is priming for whatever thr next video is, which will probably be you equating your religious beliefs with the rational guy. Those are not the same. The universe isnt a lake. Youre probably going to make an argument about an unmoved mover or an uncaused cause, but even if those were granted those still don't line up with Islam.

    1st of all forgive me if I make some grammar mistake because english is not main language
    Atheism simply means not believing in God. Two atheist can have totally difference views about universe, morals etc
    Many atheists that I know don't claim that universe came from noting. This strawman from religious folks that they keep repeat online.
    There is no example of something coming from noting or something becoming noting. There no evidence that universe was "noting" at any point. Even big bang theory does not say that universe came from "noting". This misconception that some people have. Big bang theory state that universe came from singularity, but this singularity already have all things that make up universe.
    Matter/energy can't be created and it can be destroyed, it only change shape and form. If I destroy your body with nuclear bomb, then all material that make up your body will still exist, it just that that your body will ripped apart but noting disappear. Similarly we can't create something out of noting. When we make car, we use material that already exist. Basically there is no example for anything coming out of noting and vice verse, and we don't even know if this is even possible

    How does Islam fit in to explain the world or reality

    Yes of course science can’t explain everything. Science is involved with inquiry and challenging what we think we know while being self critical.
    Religions ask us to accept they have all the answers neatly packed. In the end most people don’t have the mental endurance to seriously research for themselves. It’s a lot easier to consume content you already agree with. feel good about yourself and your beliefs. It’s a lot scarier to honestly subject your beliefs to true scrutiny.

    I never understand why theists think god of the gaps is a good argument. So Zeus threw lightning... Until science could explain it and then he stopped? Nonsense.

    Can you explain why a continuum instead of a succession of slices of space/time is not possible please brother? I understand quanta of energy and other physical properties are necessary, but why are quanta of spacetime required? This is the only thing I have trouble with in your argumentation. Jazak Allah khairan.

      If space was made out of a continuum of infinite points of no-length, say we cal it "0mm", how much length is 0mm + 0mm + 0mm + 0mm.... ad infinitum?

    • @youteubakount4449
      @youteubakount4449 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AbdullahalAndalusi jazak Allah khairan brother. Answer is 0mm, but I still struggle tot see how it helps. There are infinitely many real numbers of size 0 between 0 and 1 and we can still have a full interval of length 1. This is why I'm confused. Why isn't reality continuous like the interval (0,1) in mathematics in your opinion?

    • @MegaMoh
      @MegaMoh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@youteubakount4449 The number line assumes that a line already exists and then assigns one point on the line to 0 and another point on the line to 1 then we define the part of the line between the point of 0 and the point of 1 as an interval whose length is 0 - 1. It isn't that you add point after point after point _next to_ the point of 0 because, if continuity is assumed then there is no "next point".

    If we can divide any phisycal volume, then this divide could continue for ever, right? Then it would be an infinite regress, and if you tell no, there would be a stop in some levels of divide then you should accept that level is some volume which is indivisible so indipenden.
    Contradiction !!
