  • To start the new one week later reviews series I picked up a Brava Smart Oven that cooks and bakes using light. Let me know if you think it is worth $1,500 for this Smart Oven.

My only gripe with this would be its size. For something over 1k it should be at least doubled that. I'll admit it has some extremely impressive features but if you have a family of 3 and your need to cook a whole pack of bacon you'd have to do it in multiple batches vs being able to do the whole thing or even half the pack in a regular toaster oven.
My 100$ black and decker counter top conventional oven can fit a sized pan of lasagna easily with space to spare.
The only purpose I could see getting this is your in a small dorm and don't have access to an oven/stove ect

I’ve been using this oven for a couple of years now and just let me say up front that anytime you’re going to use a new cooking method there is a learning curve. Fortunately this one isn’t all that steep as long as you’ve been cooking with other methods for awhile. I thought it was a novelty at first but after getting familiar with it it’s a valued tool in my kitchen. My preferred foods with the Brava are steaks and fish but eggs, omelettes and a multitude of vegetables are at the top of the list as well.
I like your recommendation to “season your food” but I’ve had some issues using some of my older marinades like my crystallized ginger, honey, teriyaki marinade for salmon. I tried it once but ended up smoking up the house because of the honey. The same happened with BBQ sauce. I’ve learned that dry rubs definitely work much better and there’s fewer smoke alarms going off! 😂 This oven is expensive but in my opinion well worth it. The slow cooker/Dutch oven (chefs pan) turns out some incredible pot roasts. Just saying.

Been watching all the reviews and when you mentioned seasoning the food, I knew I could trust you. People all on there with some plain cooked food with no seasoning mmmmm'ing and ahhhhh'ing. Liars! Lol.

This is a 2 week review. The real question is what’s the reliability and support after 2 years or more? I’ve read numerous complaints about the $1300 June failing after just 2 years so I’m hesitant t spend that much money on a toaster oven.
And are the non-stick accessories Teflon (or some toxic variation) or are they non-toxic? I don’t believe any of these reviewers who say Teflon is non-toxic because the temperature doesn’t get hot enough for it to be toxic. They’re just parroting what the corporation tells them instead of doing some real research.

How does the defrost work in the brava?

But how does it cook a steak? That was was one of the concerns. I personally only eat steak once in a blue moon, but I’ve seen other reviews where this oven doesn’t cook it evenly.

I’ve been using this oven for about 2 years now and the two things I cook in it most is fish and steak. Whoever was having trouble cooking steak just wasn’t familiar with this technique. Like any new cooking process it has a leaning curve.

I wouldn't mind owning one of these. Especially since no one likes to cook chicken wings to the point their crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside smh.
