Being a short rider of 5’4”, I have to say that this bike is just about as perfect as you can get. Everything is within reach and ergonomics are great. I am also a Goldwing rider and a BMW K1200LT rider. This bike will never be as highway capable as the bigger bikes. But, for a 5'6 70 year old rider with a few hundred thousand miles on a bike under my backside this bike and its smaller size, 500 lb weight and 1100 engine is a much welcomed family addition. Loved your review>>> Thank you

Can't live by Wing a lone. Got the MT-09 out for today's riding. Already been out to the shooting range and got some practice in. Getting ready to run up to the store. The MT-09 power hits a lot like Yamaha 2 strokes. Reminds me of RD350, 400 and RZ350, 500. Hit the throttle in 1st through 3rd the front wheel is skyward. 4th through 6th clutch it right up. I've had the Yamahammer on 300+ mile rides. Yeah it's not the Wing but it does ok. My first cross country tour was on a Suzuki GT250 from Socal to the tip of Maine and back when I was 17. I'm 63yo, greybeard @ 6'-3", 270 lbs and I still prefer small motorcycles over big slow touring bikes. The Wing is nice. Best boring bike I've ever owned. Honda will sell every one of those they make and they will be dirt cheap on the used market and a good second bike or intermediate bike for riders moving up from a beginner bike here in the USA.

Great review with a unique perspective. I’ve been thinking about a second bike but the chain and the looks of this one just doesn’t do it for me. I put 90,000 miles on a 97 1100 Shadow ACE back in my miss spent youth and you got me wondering. Is a parallel twin and a V-twin the same thing?
Looks like a fantastic, fun machine. Lots of value for your $. The parallel twin does sound good, just not the same as a V-twin. Thanks Robert.....Kevin
I’ve found the bars are too far forward, pegs too high/not forward enough placing you in a stirrup position, and seat painful. The good news is all those things are fixable. No bike is perfect from the factory. DCT is nice and the bike is super light for those aging or needing a lighter bike. Good information provided!
Nice vid. Except, and you've probably heard this already, it's a parallel twin not a V. I've been looking at one of these with the DCT as I tore my anterior interosis nerve in my left forearm a couple years ago. I've had 2 surgeries and it's been repaired but if I'm on a 60 mile plus ride the pain and cramps in my left arm and hand mean I have to stop and rest for about 20 minutes and when get back into built up areas with lots of stopping and starting operating the clutch lever becomes painful, so I don't ride as much as I used to. DCT auto clutch looks like bliss to me.
Nice review how is the throttle response I have had two vtx's07&08 both were 1300's the 1800 was just to heavy and I was a fairly new rider of about two years thanks for your personal information
Art, it's a cruiser at heart so it tends to stay in a very low RMP. That has the effect of making the throttle feel a little bit sluggish to me in Standard mode. You can overcome that by switching to sport mode or manual mode.
I would look for some outside vendors saddle bags that fit...these honda ones just felt pretty cheap... and if they are expensive well that could be some buyers remorse in the making. Ride Safe !!
