I auditioned both at a Bose store near me. The QC20is have muddier bass and sound somewhat like listening to funneled sound about an inch from your ear. Separation isn't fantastic. The SoundTrue Ultras have better separation and a cleaner low end and sort of sound the opposite (they funnel out rather than in), but have more distortion at high volumes which is really strange. Vocals are clear on both. But overall the SoundTrue Ultras sounded better in the controlled environment. I couldn't test the active noise cancellation but I don't prioritize that feature. I don't like having batteries in my IEMs; I guess it's a different market. Maybe the batteries were dead on the QC20is, though. I didn't notice any amplification and they are a demo unit.
+Arhionvar (Arhi) Intresting point of view man. I saw a bit of the same thing when I was re-listeing to them. I'm just so blown away by the qc20is due to the noise cancelling. The quality is incomparable in my opinion. Big picture wise, it doesnt fully matter, but if you are in a more controlled environment, I totally agree with your point of view. I agree with you! I just bought the QC20IS and I usually listen to my music pretty loud- they sound too scattered, too hurtful when in full blast- like the cymbals are right behind my ears!! I compared them with my QC20 headphones and those are much better with noise cancellation and sound on max volume. Ah.... The base is amazing though. It's so close to being perfect. But not worth $300 for me. Switching to the SoundTrue Ultra.
I bought the SoundTrue Ulra wired buds when they came out, and I just love them! The sound is rich, and very high fidelity. Recently I purchased the SoundSport Free earbuds and the sound is even better and it is great to ditch the wires! My next purchase will be wireless noise cancelling Bose earbuds, but I hate the dog collar in the QC 30 so will wait till they come out with buds like the SoundSport Free, but with noise cancelling.

The 25s will have a much more full sound with larger drivers, but they might become a bit uncomfortable after a while being over ear headphones. I'm loving the 20is because they quality is comparable but the size is so much smaller. Let me know what you go for!
How to do you think the QC20's would work when being used on a motorcycle with no helmet or a 1/2 helmet? I'm using the Iphone headphones and they fall out and I can't hear my music over the wind noise on the highway.
The QC20s are awesome when it comes to staying in and being able to isolate your music but if you are bouncing a lot, you get this sort of weird noise. If you are looking for a good isolation method though for music, I would recommend investing in a returnable way and I think you'll be satisfied!
Harry's Stuff .... Not where I ride bud. Low traffic and I would never venture into the city or high traffic areas listening to my tunes. Just an FYI.... I bought them snd they're "ok". Not sure I would do it again if given the opportunity
