I was really hoping someone else noticed how much that amp sonded like ass. That junebug is the one but would have sounded so much better through a blackface bandmater or a Gibson GA-6- just my preference.
Not so much the amp sounding awful as being period-inappropriate for the guitars. I know EVH himself was around then as a player, but people forget that purpose-built very high gain amps are really a later development: for example, the Peavey 5150 dates to 1992, the Mesa/Boogie Mk. IV to 1990. Without appropriately-voiced pickups they sound thin, brittle and sterile. An early '70s to late '80s Marshall would have been a better choice. (Though it has to be said that the Gibson Jr. would sound good through a shoe box. I guess you can tell which was my favourite guitar.)
That Jr. Damn. I don’t use wiggle sticks either. But that would be hard to let go. lol. And yeah, I do like seeing just a few guitars but more detailed and played in these videos.
The PRS and Vintage Guitar Show in Tokyo two weeks ago was very exciting. There were so many guitars on display, the total value easily exceeded 500 million yen.
Hey Alex, I really enjoyed the video. I like how you plugged each one in and we can hear it and find out more about them. As far as my favorite guitar of the 3, I would say the Ibanez Iceman II IC50 but I think you guys have already sold it because I didn't see on your website.
I had an 81 V just like that. I didn't really like it. I was all messed up on something when I smashed it to bits in my kitchen . I told my friends at the music store and gave them the pieces ,they made a mobile out of it and hung it in the store.
Great guitars! So/so amp. Does it really sound like that or just a bad recording? Never tried an EVH. Although I do have one of his sig greenbacks in an Orange 1x12.
Hey Alex, great playing on this and sweeet finds ! but im struggling to think that the SG is all original because in 65' especially with the 1 pickup model, the were not equipped with a vibrola unless they were the 2 pickup model's. Could be a 1 off that im not aware of (excuse my ignorance if thats the case - not trying to hate) But its just tough to hear that its "all original" being the the history of the SG Specials. Was there a time or could this be a special order sort of case? I love this stuff and its super cool to see and want to educate myself ! Thanks a lot, Cheers.
Nice guitars, but can you play ANYTHING with clean tone? Every guitar you pick up and play all sounds the same- distorted noise! Play clean! Make guitars sound great again! Clean tone and let those notes ring! Thank God for Greg Martin!

@@gordonhuskin7337 meets the criteria of vintage 🤷 (I personally consider anything up to 1989 vintage but I know some consider later items vintage as well)
Common consensus online is anything 20-99 years old is considered vintage with items 100+ years old being considered antiques. Time truly flies, I can't bring myself to consider something from the 90's or early 2000's as vintage even though it technically is lol
@aflashfloodofgear IMO 80s gibsons are borderline junk and shouldn't be priced astronomically like 60s and early 70s vintage guitars. I guess technically they fall under the definition of over 30 years old, but they're still not worth the price gouge of say 1960s vintage guitars

I thought my ears were jacked up this morning listening to this. Guess not. Please mic the amp if you want an accurate sound.
That "The V" is amazing!
The SG Junior sounded amazing! Stunning clean sound. Liked the video format, would like to hear some acoustics, depending on what stock you have.
Very cool haul! I love the playing examples, too. :)

Super fresh find🎉!
The best thing about those vibrola SGs is , you can run all the strings like a wrap tail except the B string. The make great B bender guitars.

Is there a site to find all the guitar show dates and locals?
If you Google "guitar show calendar" there are a couple sites with dates and such! The main one isn't around anymore, but plenty filling the void.
