Don't reissue Firebirds! Keep the old Banjo/ neckthru reissues special and exclusive. Kinda feel the same about the Modernes... Price shock will help keep existing ones value.
@@musicmaniivv Studio does not have thru neck. Custom doesn't either. This is the construction issue that is my point. Played a used flawless '82 Moderne a couple years ago, and found it light, small and Tele-like, and listing for under $1700. $10k is a helluva leap. Epiphone had the Futuras 20 years ago, and they were convincing, but had that diminutive body. I imagine those will now jump too. Keep Firebirds real!
The SG Supreme Longboard Burst @5:28 reminds me of some of the SGs John Diggins at Jaydee guitars would make for Tony Iommi, expect they were actual laminates of hardwood; usually walnut and maple with the mahogany wings getting finish applied over them. The necks were similar. You can see some online Tony used on and off in the 80s and 90s. One was black with a Washburn Wonderbar and one was finished in red with crosses as the string anchors.
I remember going to guitar lessons in the 80's and seeing a reissue Modern up on the wall. Must have been there for years...I don't think they ever sold it, but if they did they probably sold it for a discount. It was pretty cool to my young eyes but the headstock always baffled me with those super sharp string break angles. Wonder if it holds tuning well...seems like a problem!
If Gibson gave those reissues some metal paint jobs I could see them selling better than the korina versions maybe? While I’m at it can someone please explain why we can’t get a standard production korina V and explorer? I’d rather throw down on us production models than the epi’s and I will never be able to justify the crazy custom shop money.
The UK Demo shop had 25% off on Friday, which rose to 30% on Saturday..... needless to say, the store didnt have much listed before the sale started, but there were a few guitars that I managed to talk myself out of buying lol!
My main bass, by Scott Hembry, has a Moderne body and a buzzard headstock. There’s a TH-cam short by Stands for Nothing called “Oops time” where that bass is the thumbnail. The body shape works for me, but I don’t see how anyone can justify dropping $10k on a guitar.
Not a fan of the Moderne or the Futura though I do like the split headstock on the Futura , the ' Gumby ' headstock is hilarious , it also looks like a hoof , not sure how I feel about the Abalone finish LP , it's interesting at least ...Thanks Trog !
The Epiphone futura prophecy and ghost horse explorer (based in the futura prophecy) did good. I would love to try a modern to see if it plays well in the classical position.
@@miserychannel69 originals also came with split fork head too. Gumby is solid, at least. For all the caterwauling about straight string pull, it does make you 🤔 wonder, dunnit?
i wish gibson would produce again natural mahogany finish explorers. screw korina the want car prices for those. just a regular mahogany natural finish explorer
I think look SUPER cool, I really like the Furura. The Modern's headstock looks bad with those string catchers, thats for sure. But I get its not a model that would appeal massively.
the futura is the way cooler older brother of the explorer. i have a copy of one and you can actually sit down and play it. The new headstock logo is wild!
I think the “Futura” is the one to get of these too. The new logo makes it different from all the other releases. Will have to see what kind of cases and Candy these have
YO MODERNE! I was just saying how they need to bring it back, Other than Zakks short lived “moderne of doom” and Kirk Hammets, they haven’t done anything with the shape
Thanks for the heads up on the Gibson 339 case, big score $100 bucks no tax no shipping. Wow
The longboard SG have 2 sets of stringers, the main support for old surfboards, that looks pretty cool!
Those prices are INSANE!
All this instead of making a production standard/modern/studio Firebird.

Gibson Custom is a completely different factory than Gibson USA, where they would make any Studio models.

These two and the Theodore aren't my bag. Stoked for the dozen or so people who are into these though.
Frick it. I'll buy a moderne
Oh wait I just saw the price

Have to say that I love the Moderne. Looks like half a Flying V with something else.
Super ugly + premium pricing. Stay classy Gibson.
Thanks Will Farrell! 😝🥃
That white wash looked like it was in a dairy explosion.
Thanks for the recap! I immediately grabbed that ES339 case! Great buy and badly needed for my 339!
That SG Supreme longboard is the cats meow!!!! 😸
Damnit
I’ve already bought 5 guitars this year.
Damnit
Me too! 😂
what we want Gibson is the gold modern V goddamn I would out money on a credit card for that I love those especially the gold! Please Gibson!!

@7:06 to @7:30 Must've been bring your airbrush to work day.
Space Turtle and Abalone Shoals is really nice...
I like the blue sparkle explorer minus the pickguard.

Missed the boat on those first two. Stick a top hat and coiled snake decal on them, and they could have charged $20K.
love that moderne

2:53 the nightmare of those who want straight string pull!😂

What about the new Session Studios?
Goddamn a shape only a luthier could love 😂
The Epiphone futura prophecy and ghost horse explorer (based in the futura prophecy) did good.

And my ghost horse in the outro 🎉
Ghosthorse is an Extura.
Modern with an explorer headstock.
That Gumby is cool, but the stringing is silly.
Perhaps with some Steinberger gearless tuners to solve the issue.
@@miserychannel69 originals also came with split fork head too.

For all the caterwauling about straight string pull, it does make you 🤔
wonder, dunnit?
I saw the same stuff on the Gibson website.
Now Dean can sue Gibson for the headstock...🤣🤣🤣
Have you looked at "Eddie's Guitar s" lately? There's some sweet instruments on there right now!
Moderne with an Explorer headstock.
That skull is going to look really cool once it ambers over and has finish checking.💀
If you turn the future sideways it looks like a shark, and the big boat paddle headstock is to help you get away!
They need to bring back the RD and do it right this time... 25.5" scale length, maple fretboard optional.
Not something I am interested in getting but cool release
I want a 349 remade.
Gibson
" Giving the ppl what they don't want ..." 😘👍
Cool now re-issue the MAP GUITAR
Remind me of aquatic-dynamics ala hammerhead.
now they just need to bring back the reverse flying v!
If it was Korina and limited to 100 at 10k - I'd happily buy one of those haha
I'd love a moderne, but I can't afford that. Oh well.
Billy Gibbons has an original moderne
Turtles, all the way down.
We got a Korina Moderne before GTA6.
Sorry wrong channel, I'll see myself out.
$10K?!? Gibson execs are laughing all of the way to the bank.
Diamond is related to the Illuminati. 10k is a great deal compared to the Trogly in Person guitar tour. 🐔
ya cant be that suprised.... Re issues is all Gibson does FFS
Oh Noooooo !!!!!! R.O.L.O.L...

It’s just a plank of wood.

I like the access Les Paul with the skull.... because it's so tacky it's beautiful 😍
I don’t wonder why these never took off! To me they’re pretty ugly!
Ugly in the best way lol

@@papasmamas1i don’t care for the futura but i love the moderne
99.99% of all guitars look 95% the same. LP, SG, Strat, Tele or some bland version of same. I'm totally ready for something different.
Somebody needs to tell Gibson that hair metal is dead.
There are reasons the futura and moderne never made it to production 😂
um no troggy sorry
A Moderne with a regular Gibson headstock would be sweet! The Gumby headstock is ugly and not the best for tuning.
the futura is the way cooler older brother of the explorer. i have a copy of one and you can actually sit down and play it. The new headstock logo is wild!
In future news, Gibson is in a financial crisis, launches Slash models of Futura, Moderne to turn tides.
10k? Gibson has lost its mind.
Moderne good!! Do it!! .... "Futura" .... JUST DON'T!!! .... Just don't do it , please Gibson. Put the "V" style headstock on the "Moderne"!!
They are gone now the case that is
Somebody needs to tell Gibson that hair metal is dead.
Daddy like
$10,000?
They look like they got melted 😂
Sounds like Gibson; bring back the rejects…i mean….what’s next? I know! How about bring back the breaking headstocks! 🎸🙄
I adore the Moderne, but have yet to buy one of any sort.
Horrific.
Trogly quick question Epi Lifeson Custom Ruby or Epi DG335?
Nothing special here if it was free guitars I would not want one in my collection.
don't mind the Futura but the Moderne 🤮

That Korina Moderne is just butt ugly.
Both are too fugly!!!!! Right when I thought Gibson had their head on straight.
Z is for late

Boo. This is fodder for eager collectors. I doubt any player would buy one of these at half the price. Keep it Gibson.

Junk
Ugly and expensive, what a great idea 😅
Authentic.
I also remember seeing Kirk Hammett using a black Moderne with floyd rose and a Explorer's headstock. Looks really cool!
Those are some UGLY guitars!
Yooooooooooooooooo
Yahoo
embarrassing looking.... would love to own one though....
