    IMO, Michael and Oz are right up there with the all time great metal guitar duos. They're very overlooked and underrated. I still have my Stryper stickered Bible that I caught back during the Soldiers tour. Been a fan since the beginning (despite being an Atheist).

      Same. My parents tried to sway me vehemently against Black Sabbath Ozzy all that. They used to take me to nights at church where they;d show all this (in my opinion) awesome footage of metal bands trying to show how evil they were. And i'm like, 13-15 going...it's literally all show. It's vaudeville, and or life reflects art. I understood it already and an Atheist even then. They are no different than Slayer. And friking love Slayer and have since the mid 80's. One of the greatest metal band of all time. Top Tier. But anyway. I wasn't allowed to even go see eve Ratt, let alone Motley Crue lol. So really my first concert was Stryper at a church banquet hall or something. And they actually really kicked ass. I just wanted to see thoe Jackson guitars. And Oz Fox did a killer solo coming off the side of the stage just ripping. Then i saw them like the next year at Magic Mountain, just randomly. Had no idea they were there. They did a dual set. Once in the mid day and once at night. Watched them both. I mean i was clearly starved to see metal bands. But they were actually awesome musically performance wise and sounded awesome.

    • @mattstickle2725
      @mattstickle2725 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HeavyLiveRiffs I know what you mean by lumping in against the law as an '80s album. Very '80s hair rock. Although I think it was released in 91 maybe? I could be wrong. I guess what I liked most about it was that it backed off of the choir boy chorus thing to an extent. Talented guys for sure but also tormented that they didn't get the love they thought they deserved. I opened for them in Puerto Rico San Juan Roberto Clemente stadium, and I remember them trying to throw everyone out, all 20 crew people so they could run their sound check with their backing vocals without anyone being the wiser. Now look at what happens these days. Bands have their whole set on tape including instruments.yikes!

      I agree, but their new album is pretty good. Hard to believe they are making their best music 30+ yrs later. It truly unheard of. I always liked Stryper for Oz's guitar playing, but now Micheal can play and he's finally learned to not sing like a girl and the band is having great success. I wish they would bring back Tim Gaines though. They would be all original 40+ years later, and still having success, that would be unheard of in the music industry. Having Tim back would help their success and popularity amongst hardcore fans I think.

      Not sure if you're a keyboard warrior internet troll or if you actually believe your statement. If you do believe your statement, perhaps you need to study your Bible just a bit. The word of God specifically says to praise God with "loud cymbals". Also, if you look at Stryper"s lyrics, you can't deny the message and the word of God also says "a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand" meaning you can't be spreading the gospel thru your music while actually believing and doing the opposite. You're either a soldier for Christ or a soldier for the devil. Finally, I can tell you that I personally led two individuals to Christ thru the music of Stryper. Both of the went off to Bible college and became pastors. One of those pastors is Joe Amaral, who is one of Stryper"s closest friends, spiritual mentor and confidant.

      @@HeavyLiveRiffs It's not a good opener for me because I don't think it's a good song. It's basically just fast and heavy but has no depth and no hook. The scream is cool and the solo is decent but other than that it really does nothing for me. They are capable of so much better. Rise to the Call for example is an infinitely better song and would make a great opener for the tour.

    • @HeavyLiveRiffs
      @HeavyLiveRiffs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I must ask how they are ramming God down your throat? If you believe that then every song in the world by any band in the world would be "ramming" whatever topic their song was about. Anyone who's listened to Stryper for the last 40 years (that includes me) knows full well that they are not ashamed of their faith and do share it thru their music but are never judgemental to anyone who rejects it.
      On the flipside, there are many world renowned atheists that ram their beliefs to whomever will listen including Richard Dawkins.
      Finally I can prove creation to you in 30 seconds, compared to Darwin's "Theory" of Evolution which to this day still remains an unproven theory.
      If you look at any building, no matter how old, you know that there was a builder (no building just magically builds itself). If you look at any painting, you know that there was a painter (no painting just magically paints itself). Same thing goes for the universe. When you look at the marvel of the entire universe, with the sun, moon, stars, fish, all the kinds and species of animals, the fact that there are 8 Billion people in the world and not of of them shares the same fingerprint. The fact that the sun in 93 million miles from earth and if it was any closer we'd all die, if it was any farther away, we would all freeze to death. The world is absolute proof of an intelligent creator. Atheists are actually saying that "nothing" created "everything" which is an absolute impossibility.
      I think if you're honest with yourself, you can admit that instead of an atheist, you are far more likely to be agnostic which is just a simple admission that you don't know how we got here.

      What are all their songs about ???? DUH. I dont want to upset you by telling you that your beleifs are BS.. If you want to believe in a God that is your belief. I dont want to get in a pointless debate with some one I am never going to meet.

      What I'm saying is that secular music glorifies sin (promiscuous sexuality, idolatry, self righteousness, etc) so all music is spreading a message that comes from the heart of the writer/performer.
      But I bring on Friendly debate. There is undisputed evidence that Jesus Christ lived on this earth approx 2000 years ago proclaiming to be the Son of God, who also died a torturous death for his claims but conquered death and rose again 3 days later. There are many religions in the world but only one RISEN CHRIST! I challenge you to put some thought into this. Once again, it is ludicrous to believe that nothing created everything.

      @Jim Weir Religion is a human concept that was used to explain why we are here before science developed. Religion is man made. It arrogantly assumes that the universe is here for man’s purpose. Religious fascists can not accept other peoples belief because they would have to admit that their faith is wrong. People should lead a good and productive life without expecting a reward in the next.Religion has caused more wars than anything else in history You are being judgemental. You can believe in what ever you want. I don’t really want to get into this kind of debate as its up to the individual to believe in what ever they want. What makes you think you are right?

      Fuck off - lets see you get up there and sing multiple times a week. Then do that for over 40 years and see if you don't have an off night every once in a while.

      Asshol*. Its called vocal fatigue - multiple shows a week with traveling - leaves little to no time to recover physically and vocally. Lets see you do 90min of singing with that much of power and range 3-4 times a week - while traveling.

      That has always been Robert Sweet's signature position on stage. As an audience member, you get to witness one of the world's hardest pounding drummers out there. He's been doing that his whole 40 year career.
