This show... Easily in my all time top 5... It's so fresh musically... and topical. Hard to believe that all the members on that field are in or are damned nearly in the 50s now!
There were lots of amazing shows I saw and heard. There were only two shows that made tears stream down my face. '88 Vanguard, and '92 Crossmen. So I was flat-out bawling when Crossmen surpassed Vanguard at Finals this year- and Vanguard turned to face the Crossmen as they played their retreat. Pure class. OMG I need a tissue *snif*
I can't wait to perform parts of this show as part of the Alumni performance on August 9th, 2024. I aged out in 1978 and we didn't play anything like this stuff. It's been a pleasure and challenge to learn. 5/4 time!
I'm 48 and once in a while this performance of The Rainforest just gets stuck in my head in the morning. Such a great show that lives in all our minds forever, the placement doesn't matter. I barely even remember the other shows from '92.
Utterly Brilliant - Hands down the best Crossmen show of all time! 1992 was one of the strongest years for DCI - and this show deserved top 3!!! As a member of a family of Crossmen Alums, hats off to all that were part of this truly amazing show!
The classiest show Bones ever did. Agreed, this was “the” show for any Crossmen that would have loved to march. It’s a Shame it didn’t place higher but that year (92) was loaded. I believe almost any other year it could have placed first. ( I could be jaded)
Still my favorite show! My HS marching band played this show in ‘98 (minus the second number) and it was by far my fav marching season. It was so groovy and the amount of fun I had.
The '90s was really great for the Crossmen and legacy of superb shows. If you're a Crossmen fishinato, you can drop in a CD and pick the year and the show as quickly as you can star snapping your fingers. If they really want one of the coveted top 12 spots, their staff needs a fresh set of eyes to look back to those shows with great charts and NO clutter. And sell all the electronics and trombones too, we could do with one less marching band.
I'm happy that in 2004 I was able to perform Puma because still to this day I enjoyed that chart but man we were nowhere near the greatness that was this show
Always intrigued by the field percussion in this show. Especially with the snare line as I was by far the shortest kid in my line during high school, and got stuck at the end of the line in the drill each year, just like the kid is here.
10000%. It was fine for Blucoats to do it in 2016, but for all of DCI to follow that trend? Yuck. As a Cavalier alum I hate it for everyone that had the badass lids like ours, Xmen, SCV.
It’s hard to describe, but with real uniforms (and hats) you get the feeling that it is one big organism out there…with hatless “costumes” it just feels like a bunch of individuals out there strutting their stuff. For me, uniforms go a long way towards promoting the feeling of “the whole being greater than the sum of the individuals”
@@johns3106 Sort of....not that I disagree with your organism comment--BUT--DCI and MB have changed more into THEATER than "marching". Marching connotates military, and fortunately or unfortunately the movement is away from the military heritage and more towards the theatrical
I saw a clip or two from this show a while back but didn't note who it was or the year or title of it. What's it called? So glad I came across this account!

I aged out in 1990, but we still got it. We're Bones. I guess you'll see this summer! Make sure you come to Semis! #Xmen50
That’d be me

This is one show I think most people agree on they wished they were a part of!!!! What an awesome arrangement!

One of the most head bobbing grooving drumlines to march a DCI field - i recall the other corps all wanted to see this show superb
The heart of this show was unparalleled.

Uh, Velvet Knights?
Damn….the musical cohesion is amazing. This is great ensemble writing.
31 years later this show still gets me teared up. Such emotion missing from drum corps today.
yup me too fond memories of this Drum Corps
Drum Corps today everyone even the drumline has to know ballet. Terrible

Placements never mattered to me but Crossmen always guaranteed they came to entertain!!! ‘92 was my fav!
The phrasing is so good by the brass line!!! And the percussion kicked ass!

This is one of my top 3 favorite DCI shows of all time.
Saw it live twice that summer. Yeah, this show hit hard! 😎❤
Agreed!
Drum line is my top 3 best of all time!
Mark Thurston did one hell of a job arranging the drum book in Puma
They “ brought it” the whole entire show!! That drumline was off the charts good! The best Crossmen show ever and should have placed higher!!
Marine buds Jamie, Nicole and Gene were in this show. Love that wonderful, timeless groove. Nicely done. 😎
How wonderful to hear the music of Bill Douglas on the field! Thank you!

Beautiful show! Masterfully performed! And that drum line 🔥🔥
i’m auditioning tomorrow for crossmen and get to play the closer of this show :)
The show came out of nowhere that year !
Best show ever
Love the different pulses in their feet
Beautiful. Such a grove!!
The BEST
The line that changed the game! Wayyyy ahead of its time!
Groove of the 90’s. 🔥🔥👍🏾👍🏾
MBI had the x-mens version of "Journey" in it's fake book and I absolutely loved playing it
Love the picture quality in this video...thanks!
4:02 You know what I’m talking about!
In the drum feature that damn snare entrance is so damn FONKY and just nasty I probably would have hyped my damn hat off playing that
I'm happy that in 2004 I was able to perform Puma because still to this day I enjoyed that chart but man we were nowhere near the greatness that was this show
The first time I saw this Crossmen I thought it was ok. I was wrong. It's one of those shows that just seems to fly by. So I watch it again and again.

ICONIC
Don't forget the pit marching handheld cymbals in the 2nd tune, The Elements....All 32 counts of drill!
Need to do this show in 2024.
Sadly it would come in 20th.
@@brianjungen4059 what if they added a trombone solo? 18th?
@@actionhero27 16th if the drums do more rim shots starting with sticks over their heads and then lean defiantly to one side……🙄
Scores would be down, sadly. DCi's a different world now. 😄
It was a terrible idea to take away the hats.
I do think the 2022 Crossmen had the best uniforms along with Blue Knights and Troopers. The headgear and uniformity make the difference.

The show is called Songs for Planet Earth
