Next we're gonna have an "MCE Is A Bad Game - Ultra Condensed Version", "Monopoly Cheaters Edition: The Least Playtested Game Of All Time - 30 Second Version", and "The Monopoly Cheaters Edition Iceberg: Hyper Extended Edition".
Monopoly Cheaters Edition: The Least Playtested Game Of All Time - 30 Second Version: Monopoly Cheaters Edition, or MCE, is bad and here's why. MCE removes fun mechanics for no apparent reason other than to speed up the game, there are no rules about accidental cheating or if you need to leave for a period of time, the plastic handcuffs are frustrating, the cheats' rewards are overpowered, and legalized cheating is not as fun as real cheating. Comparison to the original Monopoly is valid as MCE is marketed as a spinoff.
After watching Angela at Smosh play it, I realized that the bank cheat just allows anyone to win instantly. She (in two different games) took all the 500s from the bank and instantly won because no one could even get near her amount of money. It's fun to watch other people play it in a condensed and edited fashion, but I would hate to play it myself
the best way to play monopoly cheaters edition is with your friends that cheat, but then you suddenly have to leave half way through, leaving them alone with this torture
The best way to play Monopoly Cheaters Edition is to sit out and watch your friends who cheat play, then sneakily mess up their game. The fallout of your friends accusing each other of having cheated when they haven't is a wonderful thing to watch.

After three separate videos on this, I'm almost wondering about your opinions on other Monopoly versions. I vote Longest Game Ever edition for next Monopoly video
This is actually a great video to make, because it's concise and efficient and helps get your points out easier. The full videos are great fun but any time you exaggerate how mad you are (which makes for a good video), it gives people who like the game an out to say "oh well he's just upset and screaming, he's not even being logical, he just wants a reason to be mad". A video like this is just hard facts and analysis with no use of that out. I am convinced the people who defend this game only like it because they're the kind of people who are more concerned with finding an easy out than they are learning how to win a game. They're so focused on looking for loopholes and "clever solutions" that they often struggle to actually learn rules, and thus when they can't use some sort of cheat or easy win, they struggle and flounder. Like bro, in the time it took you to learn your based fucking 100% can't lose cheat for Cheater's Edition, you could have learned _real Monopoly_ and been able to win _any_ Monopoly variant, not just this one.
One of the few reasons this video was made actually! You're correct! From my experience reading the TH-cam comments on my videos, it seems like most of the people who enjoy the game are either not experienced enough with boardgames to understand MCE's flaws, or simply choose to play the game in an intoxicated state. Obviously this doesn't apply to everyone but it's a trend I've noticed. XD
The choice to remove mechanics to make the game faster actually makes sense if they intended it to be a hyper stressful game requiring constant vigilance. I don’t think that’s a thing they should have wanted, but I can at least see where they’re coming from with that decision. A little.
I think one good thing can be said about MCE. It has what I like to call the Bad Game's Charm™. It's when a game is so broken that you may see stuff in it that don't even pass through your mind when playing the regular version, and is super fun to watch or remember afterwards (but definitely not to play through by yourself). Stuff like this is why people like watching video game glitches compilations, for example. In the context of MCE, these include players winning the game on turn 1, making a crazy comeback through cheat spam or just staring at eachother menacingly for 3-4 hours straight. Not sure if this even counts as a compliment...😅
We need proper sequels talking about other bad versions of monopoly. Hearing you rant about cheaters edition for ages in the original video was ironically a comforting experience.
@@MassacresMansion Given that you've said you genuinely like Monopoly, I would love to hear about some of your favorite and least favorite variants on the game!
Watching this reminded me of how confused I was during the Purple to brown property rant from the original video. I own a version of monopoly from 2006 and the the first property set is brown. I sometimes wish it was purple after learning about it.
I think it's very possible for a game to not be designed around optimal play - This is a game intended to be played by kids and grandmas who are not invested enough to understand the intricacies of game design or be capable of utilizing things fully,. And I think it can be inferred that you would play this in a group board game night or something similar which would be rather casual in approach. I think there would be a lot of sub-optimal play in most Monopoly variants, as such, somewhat innately. But like... That concession is still not a defense. I just think the real response to that is that a casual play experience still has to be good and functional in it's own right. Conflicting rules, poorly-sized handcuffs, confusion over the entire point of cheating... This can harm casual and sub-optimal play even more than optimal play. While an exploit can theoretically create a meta-game in an optimal play environment to be worked around, to a casual audience it's much more likely to just be a confusing defect which gets in the way of casual fun. So, this game strikes me as poorly thought out even within the context of a sub-optimal, casual environment
"My willingness to die on this hill is immense" I would expect no less from the person who spent one and a half hour flaming this game, good luck with the crappy counterpoints!
I mentioned on a different video, but here’s 2 ways to make a better cheater addition. 1) Monopoly coup, where each of the players have 2-3 roles in the game whereas you can cheat based on the roles. If your caught doing something outside your roles, you lose one, but if your role is honest then your opponent loses a rule. The game ends when your the last player standing wins (last player not bankrupt or with their roles wins). 2) Monopoly lairs dice. Every player rolls 5 dice each turn or round. A player must move the amount on the dice (all 5 together) or be called a lair. If caught as a lair you lose a dice or your opponent (when your roll is honest) loses a dice. You can add a rule where you pay a dice instead of 50 bucks to leave jail or give up a dice to move any number of spaces you want.
Imagine. The year is 20XX, you have just seen the birth of your great grandson the other day, leading a long, happy life thanks to the success of Chemicards. Your grandkids are gathered in your home, looking through your old, classy collection of board games... You can't hear well, but you hear one of them say "...Monopoly cheater's edition..." Years of anger and hate built up and passed down through generations kick your heart into overdrive. Your eyes comically pop out of your sockets and steam blows out of your ears. You kick the bucket after an 11 hour straight rant on how bad it is. Finally completing your life goal of tearing apart the game. And yet, you aren't even satisfied.
You made an MCE Trilogy, before releasing Chemicards/ UNO Amalgam. That’s not shocking but the fact that each MCE Vid was made in a short few months after another is shocking.

I may have already watched two long videos ranting on this game. But what’s another thirteen minutes, any hate on this game is time well spent. Though getting a 24 hour video essay on every single bad change would be welcome too
I've said this before and I'll say it again. You 100% NEED to do a "how I would design a Monopoly 2" vid. I feel that you would do a great job at it and it would be a REALLY good video idea (imo)
Never heard of MCE before your videos but from what I can surmise, not only does it ruin friendship, it actively sets up the tragic backstory for having actual enemies. 'Why I became a villain? Well you see, I had this 'friend' who forced me to play MCE'
I just found out that there’s a game called ms monopoly where the game works basically the same as cheaters edition but instead of the main mechanic being cheating it’s that women get 1900 money at the start and men only get 1500 ._.
I have one and only one remark to make about MCE after watching both of your rants and this condensed version of your thoughts. I should make it a point to let anyone reading this know that, as opposed to being a solid stance from someone who played the game in question, the following is only an uncertain observation made from a perspective of someone who never had the opportunity (or misfortune, as you'd most likely see it) to play that game, but instead only got to gain their perspective and opinions from other people talking about what they liked, disliked and outright hated about the game. Since the game puts great attention to the idea of cheating in the game and therefore, as you already pointed it out, most players will be laser focused on catching anyone who'd try to cheat, the rewards gained from the act of having cheated alone don't sound nearly as appealing since to successfully pull it off, you'd have to be seriously subtle about it, like take two bank notes and make it look like you only took one, or move only one space more or fewer than what you rolled on the dice. Obviously, done right, this would help the player but it honestly doesn't feel like enough reward for the risk you're taking - you're basically under constant surveillance. Faulty surveillance, absolutely, but constant all the same. Which is why the idea of an additional reward for successfully having cheated despite the rest of the table watching you like a bunch of hawks *sounds* (I repeat, SOUNDS) like a good idea to encourage the intended game spirit. But I will agree without a second thought that the rewards the game designers decided to go with are so inflated it's beyond silly and outright ridiculous (I mean, seriously, getting to take a player's title deed for weaseling out of paying them relevant rent?! Who thought this was a good idea, I want what they were smoking at the time).
I totally agree. This is why this game suffers in both casual and competitive play. The more casual you are, the more people get away with cheats and the more cheats get used on you. The more competitive you are, the more stressful the game becomes and the more useless the cheat mechanics become.
Condensed... and here I thought the trilogy would finally be complete. /J of course. Happy to have a condensed version of why this game is bad. It's perfect for explaining the horrors to my local tabletop clubs!
@@MassacresMansion For your sake, and for the sake of the universe, I sure hope not. That implies Hasbro makes another, worse version of Cheaters Edition.
Well, that was fun. But now I'm curious about that new edition of this game. Having that "box glasses" over your head does sound less painful than the stupid handcuff, at least in theeory. Did they steal that idea from the "Patrick The Game" episode of Spongebob, or did such a thing exist in other board games in the past? I wonder if any mechanics were changed for the better on that edition. Probably not. But I wanna see gour breakdown on it.
The other thing is just like the dexterity cards in old MTG, it encourages you to make a really weird board to counter act your stuff being messed with.
@@MassacresMansion That being the taking your stuff when leaving the table lol, you can easily do weird scuffed things like stacking all of your money to keep a better eye on it or even weirder that I can’t think of
4:15 this can also happen in normal monopoly, imagine if there are 2 players who own 1 monopoly each, and are the clear favorites. 2 other players have no monopolies and are low on cash. If 1 of the favorites to win lands on the other players monopoly, they will likely sell off most of their houses and now have a very small chance of winning. With only 1 out of the players having a chance of winning, I’d say the room has a “net negative energy.” 6:43 Also 200$ is not that much money, it’s the difference between being bankrupt and having a 0%chance of winning, also other players could just count the spaces you moved, especially if you’re the next player in turn order
Honestly, it feels like they made the game so exploitable on purpose because “ha ha dishonest people love exploiting things” but if you WANT to have exploitability to be a feature and not a bug, you have to be a looooooot smarter about it than this.
I dunno, mate, kinda tough to tell what your thoughts about Monopoly Cheaters Edition. Maybe an hour long review of the game is in order? Edit Joking aside, what if MCE was just base Monopoly with "cheat cards" deck that you draw five and it changes the rules. e.g. Real Estate Collapse: Pay the property value to mortgage a property. Get paid the mortgage value when freeing a property from mortgage. Replace this card when a player ends a turn in which they mortgaged or unmortgaged a property. Subsidized Construction: Put four houses on this card when it is drawn. Players may purchase these houses without having a monopoly. Purchasing houses follow all normal rules otherwise. Discard this card once all houses on it have been purchased. Framed: When a player goes to jail instead they pick someone else to go to jail instead. Remove this card when someone passes Go.
The best way to play MCE: -Buy Monopoly. Or any -opoly equivalent that works on the original rules. -Print out the cheat cards to keep the punishments memorized. Scrap the rewards for pulling off cheats. You notice a cheat, you can call them out for it, but otherwise, you keep quiet how you did it. -Force cheats to only be when everyone is at the table. Add a "pause" rule, and make a punishment for cheating during pause doubled... as well as some extra compensation for the player they cheated against from the cheater's wallet, if nonexistent in the punishment. That's just plain rude. -Replace each instance of "Handcuff" with "Jail". Getting out of the handcuff is sneakily pushing your piece into "Just Visiting". Congrats, you made the game way better.
@MassacresMansion well the difference is you mention parts of it(aka the additions and rules) but you mention each one or twice This us the 4th time you mentioned MCE specifically
Just have a deck of cards in the middle that has a bunch of punishments. If someone gets caught cheating, they have to endure one of the punishments. The handcuffs could even be one of the punishments as movement is now much more obvious.
@@MassacresMansion I suppose it depends if the cheat system is less or more annoying than being constantly interrupted by a goofy rat to get punished with garbage like losing an amount of terns equal to your age, so yeah.

The more competitive you are, the more stressful the game becomes and the more useless the cheat mechanics become.
now we need him to make MCE REDONE where he makes his version of the game. (this is a joke. i played this game sadly at a freinds house it was bad)
I actually have a “fixing MCE” video on my list of video ideas 😂
We got a 3rd part less go
Indeed 😂
We got MCE and then stopped playing it after 5 minutes
Very wise!
i was hoping for an extended edition directors cut
I’d consider the second rant video to be the extended cut 😂
YIPPEE, i watched the longer videos yesterday but now i get to watch both again without wasting the same amount of time
:D
@@MassacresMansionI cant wait to hear this rant evolve once you decide to massacre the sequel
can’t wait for the april fools video where you say you like MCE
That’s such an amazing idea. 😂
Is this for the preparation of the Second Monopoly Cheater’s Edition
That video will definitely happen once MCE 2 is available in the US. 😂
Condensed... and here I thought the trilogy would finally be complete.
/J of course. Happy to have a condensed version of why this game is bad. It's perfect for explaining the horrors to my local tabletop clubs!
Precisely why this video is made! And who knows, maybe someday there will be enough content for a real part 3 😂
@@MassacresMansion For your sake, and for the sake of the universe, I sure hope not.
That implies Hasbro makes another, worse version of Cheaters Edition.
Yep and by way, i am not go to request Themed Stock Board Game. Because is would just regular version with a brand.
Ok 😂
This video is so fast, it should've been Monopoly Cheater's Edition Summary: Cheater's Edition
😂
Sounds like a blast!
The absolute best word I can use to describe it is “unique.” 😂
Glad you watched the video. 😎👌
I will make a video on MCE 2 once it releases in the US!
the sheer capacity for hate is astonishing
I will never stop hating this game 😂
Another MCE banger Video! :D
In Discord timeout, but gonna boost the server.
Thanks for doing that!
Still hoping for a part 3
If there’s ever enough content maybe there will be a part 3 😂
At this point, MCE doesn't even feel like a game anymore... 😅😂
It certainly doesn’t feel like it deserves that title 😂
@@MassacresMansion 😂😂😂
The other thing is just like the dexterity cards in old MTG, it encourages you to make a really weird board to counter act your stuff being messed with.
What other thing? XD
@@MassacresMansion That being the taking your stuff when leaving the table lol, you can easily do weird scuffed things like stacking all of your money to keep a better eye on it or even weirder that I can’t think of
giving the punished player an item to easily flip the board just by raising their hand seems like a poorly thought out decision
I agree 😂
you know its serious when theres no video game music
True tbh
I had to make my point clear. 😎👌
This thing will hurt to add to a potential monopoly amalgam
Agreed 😔
4:15 this can also happen in normal monopoly, imagine if there are 2 players who own 1 monopoly each, and are the clear favorites. 2 other players have no monopolies and are low on cash. If 1 of the favorites to win lands on the other players monopoly, they will likely sell off most of their houses and now have a very small chance of winning. With only 1 out of the players having a chance of winning, I’d say the room has a “net negative energy.”
6:43 Also 200$ is not that much money, it’s the difference between being bankrupt and having a 0%chance of winning, also other players could just count the spaces you moved, especially if you’re the next player in turn order
I recommend forming alliances!
Honestly, it feels like they made the game so exploitable on purpose because “ha ha dishonest people love exploiting things” but if you WANT to have exploitability to be a feature and not a bug, you have to be a looooooot smarter about it than this.
They certainly tried something, and they sure didn't bother testing if it would work. XD
I dunno, mate, kinda tough to tell what your thoughts about Monopoly Cheaters Edition. Maybe an hour long review of the game is in order?
Edit
Joking aside, what if MCE was just base Monopoly with "cheat cards" deck that you draw five and it changes the rules.
What a great idea 😂
The best way to play MCE:
-Buy Monopoly.
I completely agree 😂
@@MassacresMansion Thank you for this blessing. I hope that you hate Monopoly Cheater's Edition 2 so I can continue watching this go on.
you should cover the version with the jail glasses and see if it's any better
I will as soon as it releases in the US!
Wow, I would've thought that a condensation video would be at least 35 minutes long
It definitely deserves to be!
Can we get an extended video where you rattle off combos between cheats and chance/community chest cards?
Maybe someday 😂
I'm worried that this is an unhealthy obsession at this point
The entire series is a word of true warning. The message is simple. Do not play it. 😂
As far as i know, for something you hate its technically the thing you mentioned the most
Clearly you haven’t seen my Uno series 😂
You think MCE is the thing he's mentioned most?
Oh, my sweet, summer child. He *HAS* Uno. And Massacards, only the thing the channel is named after.
@MassacresMansion well the difference is you mention parts of it(aka the additions and rules) but you mention each one or twice
This us the 4th time you mentioned MCE specifically
How about Massacards? I’ve made over 200 videos on it. 😂
Can i have the 10 hour version for a sleep aid now?
Maybe someday 😂
I’m curious, have you watched any of the Smosh Games videos where they play MCE?
I haven’t watched all of them, and not all the way through. I do know at one point they use one of the many infinite money exploits.
idk why but listening to you rant about this felt like playing portal with glados listing off side-effects at you XD
Accurate. I love that energy 😂
Excellent... I look forward to a MCE Pi edition where it never ends 😅😆
Imagine XD
Part three baby let’s go
There isn’t much new stuff, but this is the video you show to your friends when they ask if MCE is good. 😂
Oh, I thought you were talking about Monopoly Cheaters Edition 2.0 update with those jail bars glasses
I will be once that version releases in the US!
the saga continues...
Indeed 😂
*If only I had a nickel for every time he said "Cheat"...*
You’d have one or two-ish dollars 😂
Just have a deck of cards in the middle that has a bunch of punishments. If someone gets caught cheating, they have to endure one of the punishments. The handcuffs could even be one of the punishments as movement is now much more obvious.
Probably a better system assuming you nerf most of the punishments. I personally would never include the handcuff though lol.
how many TL;DR comments did you get on previous videos to encourage you to make this one? can't wait for the uno amalgam part 2 :3
“4. Maybe even 5.” -Jake the Dog
Monopoly Cheater's Edition 3: Return of the Dave.
🤯
Finally, a new part of the Monopoly cheaters' edition videomatic universe
Indeed. B)
man i sure do wonder if this guy dislikes monopoly cheaters edition
One can only wonder 😂
Question, will MCE beat the Rap Rat in Kam Sandwich's Worst Board Game Bracket 2?
It would be a tough matchup. 😂 I really don’t know.
@@MassacresMansion I suppose it depends if the cheat system is less or more annoying than being constantly interrupted by a goofy rat to get punished with garbage like losing an amount of terns equal to your age, so yeah.
Why does it say you earn commission on MCE sales?
TH-cam funny 😂
The holy trinity is complete.
Indeed 😂
I alway ready say it, but do the rest of monopoly version. And spin off from dig to free parket.
And maybe do other Hasbro games
Perhaps I will in the future!
imagine if we got a monopoly amalgam?
👀
