same issue on my 2004 MDX. I followed this video, and I did it my own without spending a penny. I just left the old resistor there without removing it, it works again after I connected a tiny cable on the both ends. That's done. Now it is working perfectly, high / low fan, a/c / heat. Everything works well. 15 to 20 minutes job. Thank you Shawn.
You're welcome! Glad it helped! Maybe your method can help even more people....good job! I never ordered the part and just have been using the jumperXD Not sure if it's the best method, but it still works:)
This saved me! Thank you!! 2005 MDX. The crazy thing is that once I put it my climate control fan stayed on because the Navi hasn't been working. All is controlled thru the navi. Now to replace the navi screen...or dvd box from under the passenger seat. Lets see...
Thank you for the great Video... Just ordered 4 of these, I plan to fix mine when they arrive and have a few extra on-hand. I paid almost $200 about 3 or 4 years ago for this same repair when the rear heater cut out in the winter, now with the Hot Weather coming, I need to have this rear A/C fixed very Soon... (4pcs +shipping=$11.00) [2002 MDX]
Your video was really helpful. thanks to you I save a couple hundred. This was like the easiest & fastest job I've ever done. Really man thanks I'm sure we all appreciate you.
dude... you the MAN bro!!! loving this video! i have the same issue... hopefully i can do this also with my 2001 mdx. ---side note: would anything crazy happen if i just left the jumper on there and dont get the "thermal cut-off" at all? not planning to keep the back on all the time... just only when i have passengers in the back. what do you think?
Glad you like it & hope it helps. I actually never ordered the cutoff and just have been using the jumper....no problems so far! Not sure if it's the best method but it's still going.
i have the same problem you had, am not sure if am gonna be doing that, but might be whorty to try it i guess, hope it work, what don't you do iy for me bro!
The place to buy the resistor is: digikey.com, under their search do a search for: part # P10920-ND (thermal cutoff 114C 2A/250VAC) Is not a resistor, is not a transistor, is a Thermal Cutoff. Works like a fuse If your filter is clogged the motor draws more electricity, then to prevent damage the Thermal Cutoff cuts the flow of electricity and needs to be replaced Cost is about $ 5 including freight
thanks for the video really saved me a lot of money but had a question about the bypass when I hooked up the jumper wire for the temp fix the resister heat sink got pretty hot in about 5 minutes is that normal ?
i just used this method and replugged it and it became really hot. this is my first time working with this piece so im not sure if its supposed to be hot at all. kept it there, hope im lucky and ther'll be no fire in the future. any updates with you, did you find out if its supposed to be hot or not?
I ordered it from Digi key and actually bought three. It stays even when the front AC is off. I might have to spend a good amount of money to get the original part after all.
I did the same procedure on honda pilot with the new thermal cutoff. Now my ac will not turn off when I switch the AC off. Did you have the same problem?
To be honest, I never got around to getting the thermal cutoff....the jumper wire was working fine so I didn't bother. I'm actually ordering one now. I have read that people have had issues when using the incorrect cutoff...are you sure the one you bought is the EXACT one needed for your vehicle?

Maybe the cutoff for the MDX is different for the Pilot? You might want to just try a jumper and see if it works...
Does the resistor work both heat and AC?
I did the same procedure on honda pilot with the new thermal cutoff. Now my ac will not turn off when I switch the AC off. Did you have the same problem?

Shawn E Oops...I never got around to getting the cutoff...jumper still works fine:)
Hey buddy so I try your way and it work but the next day it stop working again do you know what might be wrong by any chance.
nelson nunez I'd check the connection to make sure your solder points are still intact...have you done that yet?
ok good luck homie!
I appreciate your help and video, but come-on the noise of the "music" wrecked the video sound. Too hard to hear your voice
Alguien me puede decir que tipo de cable le puso ???
I tried everything on the net but still the rear blower jsut keeps blowing even when AC is off.
+Chris Ng even if you press the RR AC MANUAL button or turn off the rear ac knob manually?
