Just wanted to thank you for an earlier video! Your short story recommendations completely got me out of a reading slump - especially The Six Deaths of a Saint and The English Understand Wool x

Completely know what you mean about some Korean (and also Japanese) books feeling like they're translated. I somdtimes find they cold and distant but when you get one with a good translation there's nothing better!

Hi Cari! Just wanted to drop a note as I continue my "getting back into reading" journey. THANK YOU for doing these kinds of videos!! I'm really looking forward to The Ashfire King in November. I loved The Stardust Thief and I'm looking forward to re-reading that as well. It's been a long 2 years. No more unfinished trilogies for me lol
I'm getting Snowglobe soon, coz I got to read a first page preview, and I like how it was written/translated. I consume Kdrama, Korean webtoons, and even some of the older manwha, but I haven't read translated Korean books yet, except for some parts of Coffee Prince someone fantranslated. I hope I like it~
Cari, i totally agree with your take on A Tempest Of Tea. I was so disappointed as well. I wished for tea house shenanigans, a good heist storyline and a new take on the King Arthur legend. None of it was there!! 😢😢 But i loved one of the two romances as well. It unfortunately fell flat for me overall. ❌
Totally agree with your take on A Fragile Enchantment. I LOVED A Far Wilder Magic, so it was a big disappointment. I'm really looking forward to her new one.
Tempest of Tea was also a let down for me and its caused me to go on a reading slump for a month. Up until now i still havent finished the book, still at 55% 😭 Now im intrigued with You should be Lucky and The Library at Mount Char. *adds to tbr*
Just read Paladins Grace by T. Kingfisher, loved it! Got it on a whim from the library and it’s not my usual type of book but it was so cute. So definitely putting the new release on my radar.
I first heard about June Hur in one of your videos and I must say she is one of my favourite new authors as well. Red Palace was amazing, the romance, OMG, the romance 💕 and then The Crane among Wolves is just beyond words! Chapter 46 destroyed me! And for someone who’s not particularly familiar with Korean history it’s not just an enjoyable read it’s also an amazing look into a new culture ❤
Some of my favorites were Battle Royale by Koushun Takami, The Revenant Games by Margie Fuston, and Atalanta by Jennifer Saint. I also got the Waterstones edition of A Curse for True Love, which is so pretty.
Books I am looking forward to this year: 1. The maid and the crocodile Jordan Ifueko 2. The lotus empire Tasha Suri Everything else on my tbr list for this year has come out already so I’m just waiting on my holds at the library.. 😢
I'm looking forward to reading: A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher, The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst, The Dubliners by James Joyce, Ninth House and Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo, The Midwich Cuckoos by John Wyndham, Autumn by Ali Smith, and finishing the Throne of Glass series. There are many others I'd like to read by the end of the year, but these are the ones that immediately came to mind.
What I want to read before the end of the year, here’s my short list lol 1. The Time I Got Drunk And Saved A Demon - Kimberly Lemming 2. Darling Venom - Parker S Huntington 3. Godkiller - Hannah Kaner 4. The Name Drop - Susan Lee 5. Sing Me To Sleep - Gabi Burton
I recently read The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown and it’s been living in my head rent free ever since. It was such a well executed book. It’s Magical Realism and his debut novel. Definitely recommend and I’m excited to read his future novels.
The book I'm most looking forward to reading this year is "Everyone This Christmas Has a Secret" from Benjamin Stevenson. It'll be the third installment in the Ernest Cuningham series (following Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone and Everyone On This Train Is A Suspect) and both of those books made my favorites' list last year and this year respectively. Really happy to get another one this coming October.
I don’t personally keep up with latest reads much, but Monstrolio finally got published in England. I have read some of it and can’t wait to get to the rest, after finishing the The Shadow of What Was Lost. I just have so many books already!!!!! 😂
Watching this on a rainy morning with a cup of sweet chai is perfection! 💖 My fave books this year were Yami-hara, Emily Wilde 2, Strange Weather in Tokyo, A Magical Girl Retires, When Among Crows, Mermaid scales and the town of sand (manga). Book that made me cry was The Goodbye Cat; book that made me happiest was Milk & Mocha comics collection; fav character is Vera Wong from Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers; and book that surprised me most was The New Seoul Park Jelly Massacre! There are too many books I'm looking forward to, esp the new T.Kingfisher, but even if I don't get to all, I'll be satisfied if I can get more 5 stars before the end of the year!🥰
Editing idea, would you mind letting a small visual of the book you're talking about as you are presenting it ? I tend to not quite retain book names until I've read them, as I have more of a visual memory, so having a reminder of the cover at all times would be a great help since I can just take a peak whenever I want to remind myself (I listen to the vids while doing smtg else). That would be really great, thank you for your great vidéos !!!
19:45 the ending was soooo rushed😭 and confusing?? I want book 2 bcz i need answers for the betrayal at the end bcz we did NOT get enough about that character but idk i think Flick and Jin had a cute story
I went into How to End a Love Story (Kuang) thinking I was getting a rom com to get me out of a reading slum... Ummm definitely not a rom com. I barely got out with my soul in shreds. Goal met - reading slump over!
I bought Snow Globe recently after seeing your review, but I haven't picked it up yet. I really want to read Lady Macbeth by Ava Reid, the next in the Everflame series by Penn Cole, and the next Ashley Herringn Blake book! Everything else I can wait on, but not those three!
ohh that one allison saft book... yeah I had to dnf cause it was soooo bad, it didn't feel like that and a far wilder magic were written by the same person 😬
I’m really looking forward to Death At Morning House by Maureen Johnson! I absolutely love her Truly Devious series, and her new stand-alone that’s coming out in August sounds just as good!
the number one book im waiting for is coco mellors blue sisters which comes out in september..i really enjoyed her debut book cleopatra and Frankenstein
I have been in a reading slump for 2 years after finishing Throne of Glass 😅. But I did start The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo and as far as beautiful book covers go - WHEW. I also have When We Lost Our Heads which sounds like a fun read.
ooooooh, a goose girl retelling?? one of my absolute all time favorites from childhood into adulthood is The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale, so i will definitely keep my eye out for the t. kingfisher one!
I'll be looking to pick up Somewhere Beyond the Sea (sequel to The House in the Cerulean Sea) when it comes out next week and OF COURSE Wind and Truth in December. And then, cheating a little bit, I'm really looking forward to both Adrift in Currents Clean and Clear and Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales at the beginning of next year.
My favorites so far this year: Vol. 2-4 Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion - Beth Brower The Unseen - Roy Jacobsen Just City - Jo Walton Saint Sebastian's Abyss - Mark Haber Doomsday Book - Connie Willis Look at Me - Anita Brookner The Trees - Percival Everett Stranger in Olondria - Sofia Samatar

This took like 5-6 screenshots of space 😂 I love it!
I hope I like it~
I read the arc of A Dark and Drowning Tide and it's soooo good, it was 4.5 stars for me, I hope you enjoy it!
Cari, i totally agree with your take on A Tempest Of Tea.
I was so disappointed as well.
I wished for tea house shenanigans, a good heist storyline and a new take on the King Arthur legend.
None of it was there!! 😢😢
But i loved one of the two romances as well.
Up until now i still havent finished the book, still at 55% 😭
Now im intrigued with You should be Lucky and The Library at Mount Char. *adds to tbr*
I think you’re going to love A Sorceress Comes to Call, I can’t wait for your thoughts! I got the ARC and ate it upppp.

Just read Paladins Grace by T. Kingfisher, loved it! Got it on a whim from the library and it’s not my usual type of book but it was so cute. So definitely putting the new release on my radar.
I must highly recommend Divergent. Read it for the first time in March and loved it.
I also got the Waterstones edition of A Curse for True Love, which is so pretty.
ha I just bought that same copy of Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere at the thrift store a couple days ago!! I also love that cover
its so good!!
Books I am looking forward to this year:
1. The maid and the crocodile Jordan Ifueko
2. The lotus empire Tasha Suri
Everything else on my tbr list for this year has come out already so I’m just waiting on my holds at the library..
What I want to read before the end of the year, here’s my short list lol
1. The Time I Got Drunk And Saved A Demon - Kimberly Lemming
2. Darling Venom - Parker S Huntington
3. Godkiller - Hannah Kaner
4. The Name Drop - Susan Lee
31:21 i recently read up to imagine me in one week and stopped . Im happy they're together that's it i feel like the story ended
I don’t personally keep up with latest reads much, but Monstrolio finally got published in England. I have read some of it and can’t wait to get to the rest, after finishing the The Shadow of What Was Lost. I just have so many books already!!!!! 😂
17:49 i am so shocked and happy to see Arabic names .. i didn't know i had a decent representation
highly recommend we free the stars!!
@@caricanreadlove you🤍Aaa
i love takaan from six crimson cranes!
Watching this on a rainy morning with a cup of sweet chai is perfection! 💖
My fave books this year were Yami-hara, Emily Wilde 2, Strange Weather in Tokyo, A Magical Girl Retires, When Among Crows, Mermaid scales and the town of sand (manga).
I want book 2 bcz i need answers for the betrayal at the end bcz we did NOT get enough about that character but idk i think Flick and Jin had a cute story
exactly 🥲🥲🥲
I went into How to End a Love Story (Kuang) thinking I was getting a rom com to get me out of a reading slum... Ummm definitely not a rom com. I barely got out with my soul in shreds. Goal met - reading slump over!
I bought Snow Globe recently after seeing your review, but I haven't picked it up yet. I really want to read Lady Macbeth by Ava Reid, the next in the Everflame series by Penn Cole, and the next Ashley Herringn Blake book! Everything else I can wait on, but not those three!
Just for the summer was a 5 star read for me! So good!!
that will likely be my first airplane read today hahah
@@caricanread oooo enjoy!
I read The Library of Mount Char and you were right, it was INSANE. The bull in particular…
ohh that one allison saft book... yeah I had to dnf cause it was soooo bad, it didn't feel like that and a far wilder magic were written by the same person 😬
I was so confused 😭😭😭
I’m really looking forward to Death At Morning House by Maureen Johnson! I absolutely love her Truly Devious series, and her new stand-alone that’s coming out in August sounds just as good!
the number one book im waiting for is coco mellors blue sisters which comes out in september..i really enjoyed her debut book cleopatra and Frankenstein
Six crimson cranes Takkan was awesome and I thought he was losing love interest so I was sad for a while :'D
:'''')
I have been in a reading slump for 2 years after finishing Throne of Glass 😅. But I did start The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo and as far as beautiful book covers go - WHEW. I also have When We Lost Our Heads which sounds like a fun read.
ooooooh, a goose girl retelling?? one of my absolute all time favorites from childhood into adulthood is The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale, so i will definitely keep my eye out for the t. kingfisher one!
t kingfisher never steers me wrong so im excited :')
But it’s kind of funny that someone saw a fairy tale by the brothers Grimm and thought “you know what this needs to be? Even darker”
I think I may have to make a "world building, world building, world building" tote or something 😅 thanks for the video! 💛
My favorites so far this year:
Vol. 2-4 Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion - Beth Brower
The Unseen - Roy Jacobsen
Just City - Jo Walton
Saint Sebastian's Abyss - Mark Haber
Doomsday Book - Connie Willis
Look at Me - Anita Brookner
The Trees - Percival Everett
Stranger in Olondria - Sofia Samatar
oh yes i need to read Percival Everett this year!!
@@caricanread The Trees was funny, horrifying, sobering, absurd, and page turning. Can't wait to read more!
