There's a bunch of comments that I never realize got posted and yours is one of them. Sorry for the late reply. Thanks though! I'm actually pretty self conscious about this video in particular because the narration was SO BAD. I had a wicked cold and I couldn't articulate my thoughts at all. BUT, it was a learning experience for me and ever since this video I've been much more deliberate in what I'm trying to get across verbally. Comments like this, to a small creator like myself, mean a whole lot which is why I hate that I'm not responding to it until now. Thanks again! I have some exciting things coming in the next month that I reckon will be interesting to a lot of folks so stick around!
Not on the section that I paddled. There was an excellent rope swing though! Plus the lake that's on the island in the middle of a river...I think that was pretty unique. A lot of good swimming spots on the section I paddled.
Thanks man, that’s awesome to hear! This stretch of the Allegheny was great and should be runnable throughout the summer. Definitely check out Mead island...it was one of my favorite parts of this trip! Thanks for watching!
Not sure why I'm just seeing this now...I try to respond to every comment soon after they're posted. So, I apologize for the late comment. I don't live in PA anymore, which is why I started posting more stuff from NC. Between buying a house and this virus I didn't get out at all this year. Have a sweet new toy on the way for adventures. Super pumped about it and I think a lot of folks will be interested in the build process. Thanks for subbing and I hope you stick around even though you won't be seeing much stuff from PA...maybe one video a year.
Thank you so much! It *might* be Crulls Island but I’m not entirely sure. I gave that book to my old man when I moved to NC. I might say if in the video though. Thanks for watching and commenting!
i miss canoe camping this summer, we also go to Allegheny outfitters they are great and cheap compared to NJ, takes 6 hrs to get there but it's all worth it, nice video
Great video man! Subscribed! I talked with Sue at AO and set up a similar trip leaving from Kinzua Dam ending at Wildwood, going in a week or 2! Was it easy to find the islands to camp and the end point? I don't have that nifty guide book.
Thanks Mark! Finding camping spots was not difficult at all. The thing of it is: some of the islands are privately owned and you can’t legally camp on those without permission. That book is for sale at AO, but if you want you can just google “Allegheny Wilderness Islands” and then take a gander at Google maps. It’s legal to camp on the Wilderness Islands. I suggest the book though...there’s a lot of interesting info in it. Finding the take-out was not an issue. I just asked what I should be looking for and Sue was very descriptive. Have fun on your trip my dude, and thanks again for watching!
Nice videos! Watched all three on your channel and subscribed! Definitely getting into kayak camping next year, planning on doing a 3 day run from Warren to Oil City where my girlfriend's camp is at. Considering doing the length of the Clarion River from Bendigo to Foxsburg as well if I can get a few extra days off of work.
Hey Lee! Thanks for watching and subscribing, man! There’s a book called ‘Paddling Pennsylvania’ by Jeff Mitchell that you might be interested in. It has been a great resource for me for years when planning these kinds of trips.
Brandon, thanks for watching! The book is called 'Allegheny River Paddling Guide'. It's a great little waterproof resource with maps, estimated paddling times, and general info about the paddling trip. Link: www.alleghenyoutfitters.com/ao-products/allegheny-river-paddling-guide
Whats up man? Watched 3 of your videos. I appreciate the talking throughout. One of the things i really look at in a channel is for the creator to tell me what they like or dislike at the time, how the food tastes, recommendations etc. personally i just cant get into the music only kayaking vids unless it is almost non stop action. Have you checked out the River Kings channel. Its definitely up your alley! Take it easy, look forward to the next vid.
Hey man! Thanks for watching! I also prefer narrated videos. I only learned of River Kings recently after TH-cam directed me to their Rock-A-Dock video. I really like Trip Smith. I also dig Joe Robinet even though bushcraft isn’t really my flavor of camping.
Lovin' your vids dude! I plan to start doing some solo yak trips myself this summer unless I can find someone to yak with?? I'm only a couple hours away from this spot and it looks perfect to start out on a one nighter trip. Too bad you lost that Patagonia hat on the Pine Creek trip. I was going to Bike Pine Creek and get a look at the water before I ever paddled it but your vid gave me a better idea what to expect. I think I'll still bike it first though. Happy paddling, maybe see you out there sometime. I'll have my drone with me too!
Thanks dude! That Pine Creek video was during abnormally high water. There’s only one real rapid, Owassee, and it can avoided on river left or portaged around. PA has some great paddling, for sure. I just moved to NC on 2/28...heading out in a few days for another adventure. Video should be up early next week! Thanks for watching! If you decide to publish any footage let me know!
Subscriber #64... I've watched 4 of your videos and I like the content but brother please invest in a public speaking course there not that expensive and anything will help at this point lol... no hard feelings... good video and I'll keep watching
Glad you enjoy the content my man. I appreciate the criticism...getting used to narrating to a camera had a bit of a learning curve for me and I think it was especially noticeable in this video because I was really under the weather. It’s something I will continue to work on though. Thanks for watching! I should be heading out again soon!
As a Pittsburgher living in Shanghai, I love watching your videos. please keep them coming.
Thanks David! I really appreciate that!
Dude I’m a Beaver County Boy so I appreciate this because I’ve been in South Florida for 35 years. God Bless you!
That was some great content!

Awesome, I'm headed to the area soon, any cliff jumps/bridges?

Good stuff man. More local stuff would be fantastic. Grew up out there. Subbed.

If you do the Allegheny again I would love to join you!
I no longer live in PA. I am thinking of doing a group paddle of Pine Creek Gorge sometime in late April/early May if you'd be interested.
what was the name of the island with the lake??? holy crap that was cool

Mead Island

Thanks! It was a nice paddle for sure. A little slower than I like but a day on the water is a day on the water. Thanks for watching!
