Nah tho, you gotta remember the girls knew that Gyuri wasn't going to renew her contract while they were recording STW and the rest of FOMB. It takes on a whole new meaning when you realize the whole EP is basically a goodbye present for her, and them wanting her to remember all the best parts. Even the title, "From Our Memento Box," hits different in that context.

This was one of the first performances after Gyul left & it’s just heartbreaking to see the obvious sadness in Chaeyoung’s whole being, like you can literally feel it! It was tough for so many flover but must have been even tougher for the girls! They knew of course, because she never signed an extension when they moved to Pledis (the 8 others did) but knowing in advance doesn’t make it easier. I take some satisfaction in knowing that Gyuri seems happy in pursuing her dream to be an actress & I LOVE that she continues to show support for her friends! She said when she left that she would become the best flover she could be & she has!
It's amazing how the emotions of the song came through without you getting the context first. Stay This Way is the last song before Gyuri's separation from the group and a lot, and I mean a lot of emotions were undercurrent from the members to the fans with this song. When they performed this song on shows, there was a lot of tears. I don't know how it hit you like that but I guess music just transcends physical boundaries I guess. Plus with fromis_9 having the most emotional and heartfelt songs of all kpop groups, it may have been just a given that the transferrance of emotion happened that cleanly.
Hayoung was the one who did that super high note in the background in the last chorus of DM! ♡ She also did it live during an encore I think and in the It's Live video for DM!
DM got fromis a lot of new fans and popularity & I especially love the melodies in that song, theyre so creative. The one doing the high notes at the end was Hayoung btw, their main dancer & one of their main vocalists.
These two songs are my favs from fromis. DM and STW are two most refreshing songs of 2022 and these songs made me officially stan them. When I was about to tear up on STW they said the same. STW is special to us flovers. And this is just the cherry on top of their discography. Their bsides are as insanely good as their title tracks. And with their personalities, good luck cuz you'll be baffled by their absolutely crazy energy.
In DM...the whistle notes are done by Hayoung Regarding Stay This Way...for the Flovers, this song has a sad undertone with it. This is the era that Gyuri told her members she had decided to pursue acting as a career and did not sign her contract over to Hybe. SO, Stay This Way, is bitter sweet, they all knew that Gyuri would NOT be staying. When you watch the live performances of this at their comeback showcase for this album, you can see Gyuri crying several times along with several of the other members.
i believe stay this way was gyuri's last song so it also makes me want to cry because it feels like a message there, but its also just such a good, sweet song. DM really is that girl, that song goes crazy and it got me hooked immediately. also, i really love seeing kess' reactions to seeing girls be really really pretty

_Stay This Way is one of my favorite fromis_9 songs. It's a happy song but the lyrics is so emotional and meaningful that makes me want to tear up everytime it is played_
Stay This Way also made me very emotional, I cried the first time I listened to it. The outro sounds so wistful and hopeful for a beautiful moment to never pass 🥺
You should watch their dance practices and it's live performances like yeah fromis' songs are good but it goes to show that they are PERFORMERS. Fromis is incredibly well rounded, Seoyeon is one of the biggest Aces in 4th generation Kpop, and most of the girls pass as main vocals and our main vocal (hayoung) is also main dancer... like fromis is one of the most synchronised kpop girl groups at like 94%(?) syncronisation from memory.. the girls are just incredible and bsides are sooo memorable.. HIGHLY recommend their iconic bside trio of escape room, rewind, attitude to see an alternative side of their music and the girls too.

For me DM is great, but Stay this Way for me is on another level. It is a song that perfectly displays who Fromis_9 is in musical form. Through the song alone, you can hear the easnestsy and closeness of Fromis_9 as a whole. All the songs they sing make you feel good, but this one made me feel something deeper on an emotional level. It also being Gyuri, my ult bias that got me into Kpop's last song really makes this song special to me personally. I cant even hear an Ot8 version of it. I wish it had the same love DM has, but i mean it is what it is. All their Title Tracks are amazing. Cant wait till you see how Elite theit Bsides are. No skip discography.

It's funny that you two liked Stay This Way so much when a lot of the fandom thinks it was a step backwards for their music. Personally I think it's a good song on its own, but as a follow up to DM was a bit disappointing. Either way, fromis_9 is a special group and now you know why.
