❗️BLOCK 6 OF 10❗️YES I CHOPPED UP A WEDDING DRESS ❤️❗️☀️ WELCOME‼️ Recently I purchased a wedding dress 👰🏼 at a THRIFT STORE for $24.99! I've seen some lovely wedding dress quilts, and made one for myself from my mom's dress back in 2020. The dress I bought has a LOT of fabric and plenty of BLING as well. 🧵 JOIN ME FOR A QUILT ALONG SAMPLER QUILT 🧵.
Today is Block 6 of 10 blocks. I am making two of each block. I am using the wedding dress as a major component of each block. I am using shades of dark and light gray. When I am finished I will have 20 blocks measuring 12.5" each and will set them in a quilt 4 x 5 with a border. This block is "TRUE BLUE" in Barbara Brackman's encyclopedia, #1656.
☀️NOTES ON WEDDING DRESS: This dress is 100% polyester. When ironing, I use silk setting and a fabric barrier between the iron and the dress fabric. When piecing you may need extra clips and pins because the fabric might slip around a bit and not stay put like cotton on cotton. You could also consider using a stabilizer. Since the wedding dress is cut in all kinds of directions be aware that stretching can happen, and do not expect that everything will be exactly straight! It's going to be lovely☀️no matter what, so forge ahead!
🧵 FOR ONE OF TODAY'S BLOCK YOU WILL NEED:
COLOR 1 (wedding dress)
- one 4.5" x 4.5" square
- two 5" x 5" squares
- four 2.5" x 5" rectangles, or a long 2.5" strip at least 20"
COLOR 2 (dark gray)
- two 5" x 5" squares
- four 2.5" x 5" rectangles, or a long 2.5" strip at least 20"
FOR TWO OF TODAY'S BLOCK YOU WILL NEED:
COLOR 1 (wedding dress)

- eight 2.5" x 5" rectangles, or a long 2.5" strip at least 40"
COLOR 2 (dark gray)
- four 5" x 5" squares

YOU CAN USE SCRAPS! YOU CAN USE ANY COLORS YOU LIKE! MAKE IT FUN! MAKE IT YOUR OWN!

I think the top middle block is turned and the rest of the blocks are in the right way.
Beautiful big block but I would rethink if I wanted to take it apart and change that one piece.

☀️ Bonjour Regine! Une autre abonnée a une courtepointe de bébé ancienne avec ce bloc, et j'espère qu'elle m'enverra une photo ! J'adorerais voir une courtepointe entière avec ce bloc "bizarre" ! Changement climatique! Nous étions juste dans le nord du Minnesota pour un voyage d'observation des oiseaux 🦜 et il n'y avait ZÉRO neige sur les routes. En février! C'est fou! - QUATRE BLOCS DE PLUS !

Wow! Now I know……..I purchased a baby quilt at an antique store (perfect condition & inexpensive) and the pattern is your True Blue. I have looked and wondered about the placement of the 4 patches as well. Anyway, beautiful block! My perfectionist mind would turn the odd block to match the others. 😂❤

There is a tradition among Amish quiltmakers to include one error in their quilts. It was meant to show humility bcause only God can create perfection. Perhaps this block was originally that one error in an Amish sampler quilt.
