In the 70s, no labels wanted to pick up STYX. But everybody kept calling the radio stations in Chicago, requesting this song Lady.
Finally, the labels could ignore them no longer.
Styx is a great band! One of my favorites is "Too Much Time On My Hands". They have so many great songs! Great reaction!
Too much time is my favorite
I did so many laps in roller rinks to that song😂
Great rock band from the 70's-80's. They had so many great songs such as "Lorelei", "Suite Madame Blue", "Come Sail Away", "Renegade", "Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)", "Babe", "The Best of Times", "Mr. Roboto", "Too Much Time On My Hands", "Show Me The Way", "Don't Let It End", "Why Me", "Borrowed Time", "Rockin' The Paradise" etc.
Good list! Babe was one of my fave songs when I was in High School. You know you're a fan when you can hear them all in your head!
I can do without Renegade.
Well wasn’t that fun? Love your reactions Shon! I laughed out loud during this one, because of your sheer joy! You are so open and natural, it’s a joy to watch your reactions to our favorite songs. Really loved this one.
Went to high school with JC, an original member of Styx. In the evenings they would practice in an empty storefront. It was a joy to watch them. Also, it was the first time I ever tasted liquor….a vodka gimlet, and I loved it.
Just went through my yearbooks and found JC’s (John Curulewski) funny notes. He was a sweetheart.
Awesome, thank you for sharing that memory!
Thanks for sharing that Susan. Makes watching Reaction videos even more fun ,when someone like you adds a personal story. Nice memories 🎵❗
Susan - when and where was this ?
@@garyny4073 I would guess it would either be 1965, 66, or 67. I would have to check the year on the yearbooks. Although, I think he wrote in all my yearbooks. And the store front, as I recall, was in Blue Island, Illinois.
We saw each other a few years later, and we admitted we had a huge crush on each other, but we were both way too shy. We would just sit on the school’s stairs, after school, and laugh and talk, then catch our respective buses and go home.
Ah…youth! He was just such a very, very sweet person.
@@susanwoodcarver 👍🚬☕🥃, u knew a guy that was in a major rock band and played on this great classic . So cool ☕👍
We used to see them every Sunday night for $5 at the Sherwood Club in Schererville, Indiana. They also played at my high school. Styx is another classic Chicago band that loses nothing over the years. Fun review 💕😎
Lucky you ❗ Thanks for sharing a great memory.🎵🎵🎵
No group ever mixed melodic classical overtones with the anticipation of a thunderous drop into a pounding riff like Styx.
Hi, Shon! Styx was IT when I was a teenager ( I'm 59). Glad to see you young ppl liking our old tunes.
This is one of the first power ballads, with the slow build-up into a rocker.
It's so heartwarming. Dennis DeYoung married his high school sweetheart Suzanne and wrote a couple love songs for her. They happened to be some of Styx's biggest hits. I believe they are still together which is rare to see a couple together for over 50 years.
His voice is so clean
Love, love, love Styx. They have so many great songs to listen to. ❤❤
“Suite Madame Blue” by Styx rocks ! Enjoy !
Styx-Fooling Yourself,Lorelei,The Grand Illusion, Rockin’ The Paradise, The Best of times and many more !
Deep rabbit hole with styx. N joy
You're from Chicago and never heard of Styx? They're from Chicago! I'm from Chicago too and they were one of my go to bands. Grand Illusion is my favorite of theirs. LOVED them. Thanks!
This song brings me back to high school! Smoking a doobie in my friends van before class blasting that awesome “70’s” music! We really did have the best damn music back then, please keep doing bands and solo artists from the 1970’s! Your musical knowledge will expand a great deal! You make me feel positive even when I don’t want to be!!! I’ll send some songs and artists your way from the 1960’s and 1970’s so we can enjoy them together!! ❤❤
I grew up listening to Styx and their music is so special to me. Be sure and check out some of their biographical info and also some of their live performances. I love Tommy Shaw and the singer Dennis DeYoung, and all of them!! LOL..
How did I miss this one? I've seen Styx in concert twice. Also recommended "Renegade", "Come Sail Away", and "Babe."
You just played the first ever rock power ballad. First one might be the best one. Thank you for playing this.
Styx is one of the all time greats! Some of their greatest hits are must reactions! Renegade, Blue Collar Man, Come Sail Away, Crystal Ball, Babe, and so many more!❤❤❤❤
Never realized these songs wiuld have some meaning to me know!❤
I had the same teaction when I first heard it in 1973. Thanks for taking me back there.
I was 17at this concert the piano came up out of the stage at the beginning of the song great concert.
Hello from Cody Wyoming 😊 all are welcome to the rabbithole of STYX... you're awesome keep it up
My favorite Styx song. I believe lead singer, Dennis DeLong, wrote this song for his wife and what she means to him.
Dennis DeYoung
@@cathymccaffrey7725 My mistake. Thanks.
Styx is classic American AOR (album oriented rock) the fm radio stations always played.
Back then, the drummer and bassist were brothers. To me, they fit in the genre of Kansas, Boston, Aerosmith, ELO, and British band Queen
Bro, do much more Styx! Lorelei, Fooling Yourself...on and on. Saw them in 81...one of the best shows ever for me!!
My favorite band of all time
u'll love their tune Renegade.....give it a try
#Renegade and #Come Sail Away should be your next two STYX songs .. The "build ups is SO FIIIRRE BRO!!" 😊
Dennis De Young's voice is absolutely amazing. My favourite song by them is "Babe" ❤🎼❤🎼❤
Renegade is a must
Lovely song from 1973. Amazing to say the least.
You’ll hear more great music from this group. Enjoy
Styx has a big musical catalogue. Enjoy. They are the best.
There's a deep rabbit hole for you to go down for this group!
LOL Your so funny Shon, Thanks for putting a smile on my face.
Renegade will show you yet another side of these guys.
Seen them 3 times in Billings Montana
This is their first release which became their first hit
When Gary Coleman presented them their Grammy, he called them “st-eye-ks”not “sticks”
Hey Shon, I thought I'd leave another suggestion for another song by Styx, if interested. This is a live performance of Tommy Shaw the lead singer and frontman to the band Styx singing a solo tune with the Cleveland-based Contemporary Youth Orchestra where they breathe new life into one of their older classic songs.
Hey Shon, I really love the way you address all of the aspects of the music you encounter. If you like the band Stix, you should look into "Man in the Wilderness", from the album "The Grand Illusion", released in 1977. Tommy Shaw wrote and, with his amazing voice, sang this masterpiece.
I can't wait to see your reaction to this musical art.
The name is from the river Styx In Greek mythology. It was The border between this world and the next. I believe.
Great band renegade and blue collar man are great songs by them
Suite Madame Blue is another great by Styx 🔥
What a great band. If you liked this vibe from them, then definately check out "Come Sail Away." You're gonna love it.
Do some more!! Love ya!
Dennis is the lead singer of this band, back then, however I'm a huge Tommy Shaw fan.
Damn dude. I’m 61 white. I can introduce u to so much music. Much respect
You have a lot of charisma young man! Love your laugh and your enthusiasm. Thanks for All of your reaction videos!!❤❤
I just discovered this Reactor last week & immediately subscribed ❗🎵 He's a hoot ❗ Great energy. Guys like this make Music Reaction Videos on TH-cam hours of fun. Got me through the Pandemic for sure.
You want a Styx banger...do Renegade
I love how you are embracing gen z's music. We had some of the best music. Thanks for listening.
You mean gen x.... this came out in 73', but he is smiling and enjoying a bit of all eras and I like that too....♥
Other songs by Styx:
Babe, Come Sail Away, Mr Roboto, Don't Let It End, Too Much Time On My Hands, The Best Of Times, Renegade.
When music had musicians.
DEEP AND WIDE RABBIT HOLE HERE
GO FOR IT YOU'LL LOVE IT PICK ABOUT ANY SONG OF THERE'S
I did see Styx in 1975 before Shaw joined the band and thanks for the music!
I kereoke'd this song to my wife at the reception
Thanks Shon!! These guys were my first concert in 1981. People dissed Styx because of their theatrical and show leanings, but they rock. Definitely not normal "headbanging" rock, like AC/DC or Def Leopard.
Patrick...me too!! Saw them in Sacramento in 81!! Wasn't it incredible??!!!!
Tommy Shaw enough said.
Just beautiful, my favourite Styx song ever! My hubby's song to me😉
Please react to SEAL, Kiss from a rose.( From a Batman movie, early 90s). Official video please. An amazing British singer/songwriter
My wife danced to this at the strip club the first time we met as adults. 20 years later we still together.
You need to listen to Renegade by Styx!!
The 70s brought a lot of metal and hard rock but it also gave us bands to chill to. Add a litte bud and it sets the scene "jus right"!
Was one of my favorite songs when I was 20 something. ❤
Meatloaf, "For Crying Out Load"
Mr Roboto, Boat on the river
I half heartedly agree. Boat on the River is fire. Dennis DeYoung can play anything with keys.
Never a fan of Mr Roboto.
Mr. Roboto is the reason Tommy Shaw left the band.
I watched them play that in North Carolina in 1978 I was 16 had a blast ! Mothers Finest opened for Styx ! You need to check the band mother‘s finest out there are funky and good !
If you haven't already you must react to RENEGADE by this same group. Promise you'll love it!
You need to try To Much Time on My Hands by Styx
I think you would like PinkFloyd. Wish you were here and Aerosmith Jaded. I’d appreciate it. Enjoy your show.
Young blood welcome to the music of my time.
you did it again try David Cassidy Remember me or Last kiss
You'd like "Renegade" by Styx a lot better, but they're a great band !
Loreili and Fooling yourself!!

Try the song Last kiss ,,,,,,,,,,,, by ,,,,,,,,,,,,,J. Frank Wilson - The Last Kiss
Bro, please do much Karen Carpenter!!
Garth brooks ain’t going down til the sun comes up it’s country bur rock also
Next up for Styx has to be "Renegade". If you thought Lady was fire, Renegade is white hot!
I loved watching you anticipate what was coming and get your big payoff!
FIRST COMMENT!
Listen to renegade. You won't be sorry.
Styx has a few good bangers. Better than this one.
😅😅, it looks like youre in the middle of entertaining a wonderful white woman while doing this reaction 😅😅🥃👍☕🚬🚬
I broke the 666 likes!! YEah! Let's get it up to 777. Sophia / Babalon is The Lady of the Morning!
Styx had a knack for doing that... STarting off the song with common human things, ending them with the supernatural and spectacular! Come Sail Away for instance starts off reflecting on life and attributing it to the ocean, but ends up with Angels speaking to him who turn out to be aliens.
