    That's a great Antenna, left it installed where I used to live. Since I moved, I'm much closer to the towers now and the Clearsteam 2V indoor antenna was enough this time. It's hidden sitting on a window sill behind a curtain.

    Great video, David! Very helpful. I just ordered this antenna from Amazon and you answered my questions in your video! Great tip on getting the RCA app, too!

      Just a little bit of practical advice here. Weather using the RCA tv antenna with a matching transformer or a GE tv antenna with the built in tap in barrel port, before you make your RG 6 connector, you first put your weather boot on the cable. Second, put heat shrink after the weather boot. Third thing, after your connector is made, you want to either put lithium greese or dielectric grees inside whare the connector center conductor is at, then connect your cable up to the tap in port, or matching transformer. Take your heat shrink, and with a flick of the BIC, shrink the heat shrink over the connector. This assures you that moisture will not get into the center conductor of your cable connection and center conductor and keeping your pictures crystal clear forevermore. After that, then put your weather boot over top of everything and using RTV silicone to again seal out the connections from moisture. Last step. Drip loop your cable again to keep any moisture away from the connector and the center conductor of the RG 6 cable. Following these procedures, will assure you of many years of crystal clear pictures on your wide screen television set. Just some friendly advice and advise coming through as experiance putting up both tv antennas and building system head ends for cable tv systems, climbing towers, etc.

    Most of the assembly nuts are 11mm, very important to ground your antenna don't skip that step

      Quite correct. Grounding your tv antenna mast along with the RG 6 cable using a ground block is very essential electrical code safety procedures.

    Question here I accidentally broke 3 of the ears from an old antenna I had I guess the plastic on it got very fragile so I used electrical tape to put it back together, anyways I got most of the major channels like CBS, NBC, but I couldn't get it to get ABC and Fox, no matter how much I played with it, I just wonder if is because of the broken ears.

    • @davidvonwolffersdorff2385
      @davidvonwolffersdorff2385  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it might be that trying to repair it using electrical tape didn't really succeed in reconnecting the broken aluminum. If you know how to solder, I would use solder to reattach the broken pieces. And, be sure to us the RCA app to accurately aim the antenna for your particular location. Good luck!

      @@davidvonwolffersdorff2385 . Actually it was the plastic part of it that broke off, I guess because I had this antenna for 12 years on the previous RV trailer I used to live in, the hot California sun just weakened to the point that any slight pressure would cause it to break, I tried crazy glue but that didn't work, I can see the plastic part on the antenna of your video but I'm pretty sure because is new the plastic is stronger, I'm just going to buy another new antenna I can't be mad at my old antenna it lasted 12 years enduring over 110 degree temperatures summer after summer, not to mention the strong winds, anyways just look at your antenna the plastic part that holds the ears if that was to break you would have the ears separated from the antenna, hopefully a new one as big as the original will get the channels that I'm missing with are just, ABC, Fox, and the other 3 popular Los Angeles California channels.

    One question, where do I hook up the ground wire?

    • @davidvonwolffersdorff2385
      @davidvonwolffersdorff2385  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m sorry but I don’t remember whether there was a dedicated attachment point on the antenna. If not, drill a small hole on the lower part of the antenna and attach the ground wire with an appropriately sized self-tapping screw. The other end would then be attached to a bronze or brass grounding stake driven into the ground. Good luck!

      @@davidvonwolffersdorff2385 I think I can do that. It sure works well with the HD channels. The forward part of the antenna had another set of bolts that looked important but I don’t really know what’s supposed to be there. I did have two nuts left over. 😱

    What about grounding wire?

    • @davidvonwolffersdorff2385
      @davidvonwolffersdorff2385  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Drive a metal grounding rod into the ground and then connect a wire to the antenna and run it down to the grounding rod. Good luck!

    Can you really watch 4k through this antenna?????

      @@brianlopez4791 I would suggest that you google the antenna model and read the technical description. The product description says that it receives all HD and SD in digital formats via UHF and VHF frequencies. It supports broadcast 1080HDTV; and is effective up to a 70 mile radius. If you have further questions I would suggest that you call RCA’s technical support desk.

      @@davidvonwolffersdorff2385 That is the job of he TV station broacasting the video not the antenna. If the station is broadcasting a 720p or 1080p signal there is no way for that station to appear as 4k on your TV unless your TV tuner can upscale the signal. The antenna is just a piece of metal receiving the transmitted radio waves over the air.
