  • To many people, Phoina Tosha needs no introduction.
She is arguably one of Kenya's most prominent beauty entrepreneurs with her own hairline and beauty products.
She has done so well for herself but also knows what it means to have the people you trained and hired in your company steal from you to make you want to close down your business.
In this episode of Inspire Global, she takes Lynn Ngugi through her journey, lessons learned, and what legacy she wants to leave behind

I'm salon business myself. I had two employees only when I started, they ganged up and stole from me . I went down ofcourse and closed down, and they jointly opened theirs. They later split and the guy couldn't cope with Nairobi life,he went to the village, dude couldn't cope with town life I once bumped into him and weeee! Amebeat, ni miguka tu amejazakwa mdomo. The lady did well, but she lost millions courtesy of her boyfriend and shylock business. Mimi after closing down I bounced back , this time wiser .

If you dig deep into these people who have succeeded, you'll find out that each of them has a painful story that acted as their setback before bouncing back to success. Thanks Lynn, inspired. Sending love from my channel 💛

Now i understand why Phoina couldn't send me the wig i had paid for via western union direct to her. She had assigned someone to make it for me, but there was a huge delay and i was pissed off with the service. Phoina did refund me my money but now i kinda see what could have happened, her staff didn't bother with my order coz i had paid direct to Phoina. Keep going Phoina and 🧐👀open🙌🏽

My take away note: Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that count.

Very inspiring story. Really enjoyed listening to Foina's journey. It certainly was rocky to start but eventually achieved success through hard work. Her journey was very relatable. My brother's sports bar failed because of unfaithful employees. Unfortunately he had put substantial capital into it. Take away is to pick yourself up by your bootstraps and keep working on your dreams.

This is very inspiring. Many people out here fear putting up businesses because of unfaithful employees but after watching this I hope everyone here is motivated to go on no matter what hardships they face in their business.Keep pushing! Thankyou for this

Each pain makes you more strong, each betrayal more intelligent, every disappointment more skillful & each experience more wise.

Thank you so much for sharing, I am really sorry about your experience, your journey has encouraged me and confirmed to me that being multiskilled is an advantage. I am a graphic designer and recently learnt how to do video editing and motion graphics and so now knowing the importance of it, I have been reassured i am also on the right track. Stay strong, and I wish you nothing but the very best.

I have been a spa/salon receptionist before, The problem is that the salon employers trust the hairdressers and therapist more than the receptionist/manager (and the most underpaid are the receptionist) yet we are the one managing your business. It's a tough business for sure, especially when employees gang up
