Sooo I ordered this shock because of this video and put it on my Stumpjumper. It added weight and was very eager to go through the travel when climbing. I could have possibly gone with a 600lb spring. But then I tackled my least favorite techy climbs and found that I was clearing sections I couldn’t previously. Medium rebound = major grip. My downhill chatter and rock gardens are fun now instead of death grip sessions. I’ll take the weight penalty for the performance 10/10 times. In short, it punches above its price point and I’m starting to see these on Uber expensive bikes on my local trails.
Marzocchi were always my first choice when I was a kid! Z1 BAM, Dirt Jumpers, junior T they were so cool back then and I wouldn’t hesitate to run them now
The real question is: how much PSI do I need to add to get that explosion effect?..... but seriously, great overview Mike! I'm thinking I need to finally trail a coil. PS - I think you're saying the brand name wrong - it's marZOOOOOOchi - you're welcome 😉
Nope, airshocks are better in adjustability, plus don't have to buy several springs to find out which spring rate I need. Been throwing away springs through the years.
The price seems good, but tbh I‘m still a bit coil skeptical. There’s also great air shock options from SR Suntour and Manitou if you can spend just a little more money
I learned more about shock setup watching this video than I have over the past year watching dedicated videos on the subject. This shock seems simple enough for me. I'll definitely be getting one!! Thanks!
I have been running one of these for the past year in Vermont, couldn’t be happier with the way it handles the rocky technical terrain of the northeast. Paired with a bomber Z2 in the front I couldn’t ask for a better setup for the price.
I have been using one of these for a year now that I bought from Lost Co after watching this video. I have no regrets, I love this shock. Recently combined it with a Sprindex adjustable coil and it has made it even better. Thanks Mike!
Pretty much. Also less tuning for idiots like me. Cause I don’t know what to do with most of the knobs. And some of us love the m logo cause we used to ride z1’s back in the day
Awesome to see people give lower end products a good shake out and honest review. Subbed to your channel because of this review. Good energy and great filming!!!
Really!?! I have a 2018 Altitude and was wondering if there was a coil that fits. What size is it, what do you run up front? I'm not really happy with the Grip damper on the 36 as well.
@@BushmanCanuck the cool thing about this shock is they make it to fit old school style bikes its what is on my 2002 kona stab primo matches my monster t forks perfect
I'd love to see a large blind test study between this and all the other current coil and air shocks. Have 10-15 test riders all with similar travel bikes. Then have an independent hidden party install the shocks on each bike, followed by wrapping each in a cloth "jacket" of some kind, and zip tie it tight on the bike. Have the riders shred a test circuit that has a climb followed by a descent that has both fast flow, and rocky / blocky stuff. Then have the same independent party swap the shocks between each bike and re-hide the shocks with the test jacket / zip tie thing. Repeat the test until each rider has done a lap on each shock. From here, design a standardized questionnaire that allows for subjective measures to be transferred into objective data. I would be VERY curious to know if these "cheap" shocks hold a flame to top-tier products like the 11.6, in terms of statistical significance for rider feedback scores. This test could be re-run several times, with several groups of testers to increase statistical significance. From there, you could also structure into the questionnaire some sort of metric that looks at rider biases based on perceived value based on shock brand. With that data, you could sort out what statistical significance perceived value has on perceived shock performance. The models could also be isolated for analysis on coil vs. air on perceived rider shock descending performance, as well as for climbing performance. You could take this even a step further by creating yet another test study that does the same test, except this time allow each rider to know which shock they are riding. Run each shock on multiple test rider's bikes and run a statistical model that isolates "knowledge of shock brand, and its correlation to shock performance". After running both studies, my hunch is that the high-end / expensive shocks would probably out-perform the cheaper products in terms of blind rider feedback, as well as non-blind rider feedback. However, I also think that perceived value would have a statistically significant impact on a rider's perceived shock performance. In other words, perceived value very likely has a significant impact on how someone "feels" that a shock is performing. Its possible that even if a more expensive shock feels worse than a cheaper shock, that the perceived value factor potentially offsets that difference. I think a killer example of this is hubs. As of 2020, its really damn hard to find a garbage sealed bearing hub on the market. I'm willing to bet that cheap vs. expensive hubs are damn difficult to distinguish on the ride, particularly if you can't see them / distinguish the hub brand because of some test design. I am kind of sick of the bike industry constantly convincing all of us that we NEED to upgrade to the newest shit because it supposedly waaaay out-performs the previous product. Now, all of this crap being typed, I love the 11.6 and I9 hubs! LOL
I’m a novice on these things. Are coil shocks more reliable than air?. I have a San Quentin 2 that came with a RockShox RL air fork when that one breaks I think I’m going your route but only if it’s more reliable. Still this shock cost almost like the whole bike ha.
Andrea Squeo I apologize I thought you were referring to the Z1 front fork. Yeah it does. I like more hard tails because I don’t jump from cliffs. Full suspension is coming soon. Also I have a Gravel and thinking about a road bike. I have been riding like 8 months and doing better than people with $3,000 bikes. What I know is that when things breaks I hate it. That’s why I’m looking at this fork. Your comment got my attention because it seems that this fork is worth it
Andrea Squeo Yes. I think is also worth it. They look like tanks. Thanks a lot that will be my upgrade when the Rockshox breaks. Biking is awesome and money well spent.
I had the bomber cr with a fox sls 700# spring because I am fat on my e bike. Kept the shock and bought a 550-670 progressive spring! It’s the best it’s ever felt
Hey Mike, love the suggestion of using this shock for the bike park and saving the high dollar air for the trail! PS : glad to see no phones were harmed in the making of this video ;-)
Can you please review the SR Suntour TriAir? It can be had for under 300$ and according to VITAL MTB its outright the best "budget" rear shocks that they have ever tested. Competes with the RockShox Deluxe, FOX DPX2 and DVO Topaz - thats what I would call crazy good value for money.
I am of the opinion that more adjustments aren’t going to make you a better rider or make riding much easier, if you are a casual rider you’re conditions and riding style are probably going to change slightly from day to day and so will your preferred feel. Save the money, keep it simple and get riding! Great video
Always used coil and oil rear shocks. When I started riding the air shocks were specifically for XC riders and Downhill/Freeride riders ALWAYS used coil and oil due to their stronger construction and improved performance.

hi, i have a mondraker crafty 2021 with a fox dpx2 that is air, would it work better with the Marzocchi cr spring bomber to do enduro? or wouldn't you notice much difference?
Hey there! We're big fans of SRAM's new Super Deluxe Coil shock that they replaced the Vivid coil with. It's our current favorite coil shock on the market!! -Tor
Omg this is what I need. I’m a heavy weight and I never really felt good on air shocks. They just don’t feel like a coil. My first intro to dual sus was a specialized FSR elite. It had coil and boy was that bike fun to ride. I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since. I’m saving my spare change for this thing hopefully it won’t disappoint.
Ive always had issues with marzocchi’s back in the day , they were always sticky and leaked oil but i’ve been impressed with their new stuff . I have my eye on a z1 coil for my hardtail .
Hi Mike! I’d like to get one of these and put it on my Commencal Meta TR29 and at the same time add a bit of travel (fits 210x55). The thing is that the rear eyelet is horizontal, so rotated 90 degrees as oppose to the front eyelet. Is this an easy thing to do? Can I adjust that out of the box or is going to be tricky
should I buy the bomber cr on my troy too? because I wnat to try a coil shock at that price but I want adjustability should I just go dhx2 or bomber cr
Bro will you please do a review soon on those WeAreOne wheels your running?! I'm guessing those are Unions. I'm thinking about buying a set and would love to hear your thoughts on them.
We'll have one sometime soon! But here's a quick review: They're an awesome company making awesome products. The wheels are freaking bomb proof and we recommend them to all of our customers!
Sometimes more simple and "basic" is better. Same goes with forks. If fork has settings you don't even understand, probably you have wrong settings. Seems like great value. Comparison between 300$ air shock could be cool, though it would just end air vs. coil pretty quickly.
Pienimusta that is why I like the super deluxe as an air shock over the fox stuff , not saying it’s better , but I do know I can get it dialed in and running sweet with ease .
Back in the day I put a marzocchi bomber fork on my trek 8000 and that fork was amazing. It was budget friendly and once I had it adjusted I was way faster on my trails I ride
Got a base Nomad and always hearing how much better the vpp is with a coil shock. I'm wanting a lockout for climbing though so I'm not sure this will be for me. Price definitely though.
Just grabbed one of these to run, as a replacement or possibly backup to a DHX2. DHX2 lasted about 12mo of relatively hard trail riding, no park. Seems like shaft seal went and it spilled its guts out the other day. Here in Canada Fox is charging $240ish for a rebuild. New bomber cr rung in $440 all in shipped. I'm really curious if I'll be able to tell the shocks apart.
Hi I have Troy 29er as well, does this coil shock make the bike any less progressive? And do coil shocks offer and equivalent to bottom out tokens and do you need them with coil shocks. Thanks
Simon Kubacki no you don’t need tokens with coils you use bottom out bumpers instead and coil springs aren’t as progressive as air springs but it’s not really a problem as you don’t want a progression coil shock unless your doing rampage or something.
There isnt enough progression in coil, so thought putting a mrp progressive spring on, but no one makes a 650 pound spring, neither does crane creek. Do you know if push or someone does? I like the idea of that shock, but if I can't get spring I want might have to go with fox for the high/low settings and rubber bumpers on end.
This is a shock id be really interested to try in the future, but is there any way to run it as a 62.5 shock as that's what my bike is and I don't want to lose out on any travel
I have a 2021 Vitus Mythique VRS with Fusion air shock 200mm x 56mm. I am a heavy rider about 255 lbs and am always have to put air in rear shock. Is this compatible? Thanks
I ordered that shock yesterday and I don't know what to do for the spring. The TFT spring calculator gives me 527 for a plush/33% sag for my type of riding.... that is right in the middle of a 500 and 550 shock... what is the advice in this case? Go a tad firmer (550#) or a tad softer (#500)...? Speaking of the TFT spring calculator... I assume Rear WHEEL travel is the same thing as my FRAME rear travel?
Hey Fred! It's hard to say because there are a lot of variables that go into choosing spring weight. Most importantly is how aggressive of a rider you are. For anyone who's priority is a comfortable and safe ride, then the softer spring is a great option. If you're someone pushing the limits and looking for some adrenaline, then going up to the 550 is a good idea. Another option is the sprindex (which I use on my bike), which lets you get more specific with your spring weight. And yes your rear wheel travel is the same as your frame travel as long as you haven't changed stroke length or installed something like a cascade link! -Tor
I am looking for a new shock (216x63) for my bike but have been told because of my weight (115kg) 254 lbs with full kit there is no coil that will take my weight? I like to have a lot of support & no bobbing on the climbs with my shock. I have been told I will have to have an air shock & it's about £500 to £700 uk. $682 to $955 US What do you think ? Would this shock be any good for me? Do they have a spring that would take my weight?
What about reliability? I'm just a average 160 pound, 62 year old dude who is historically, pretty easy on bike parts. I have blown this shock three times in the last 6 months. The first blow, I waited 3 + weeks for a warranty ... that stunk! Now it's in for a second time at dirtlabs in Longmont CO. So three fails total. I'm over it and need to replace it with a shock that is reliable. Is anyone else dealing with multiple fails? What a pain in the ars!
The calculator you use says 340ish lbs, and the Marzoochi site says 380 lbs. In Capra forums for my bike people are using 500-550 lbs, but for FOX DHX2. Does brand matter? I wonder why the large differences?
I like to buy this coil shock but David from transition bike says that the Marzocchi Bomber Cr will not work on the transition patrol carbon 2019!! And not sure why that is...?? (I did not ask!) maybe clearance issues or because of different shock tune ie: MM,LL,ML tuning issues 🤔 However he says that I could go with something like Fox,RS,Mrp or Ext !
I run a Cane Creek Coil and a Ohlins ttx coil on my dh bike. But I really would like to have a much simpler shock. 90% of riders don't even change the settings on their dhx2's and Cane creeks. SImplicity=reliability
It's so crazy how a coil shock is the expensive option, and it's even more crazy how the rebooted Z1 was an air fork, when the original was famous for being an open bath coil setup. "But an air fork is lighter..." Yeah, but why are bikes not getting noticeably lighter? My '96 Heckler is 14kg, a modern day equivalent probably doesn't weigh a great deal less, even with all the air springs and carbon and better aluminium alloys.
I’m looking at buying one for my trek remedy 8 XT I’ve been told the 230x60 will fit but they don’t come with a spring? How do I know what length I need? I’ve worked out I need a 400 but don’t now length Any help would be appreciated
I would start by watching our video "How to Find the Right Coil Spring for your MTB Coil Shock." We go into detail on how exactly you find the stroke for your bike. Further, than that, please give us a call, shoot us an email, or reach out on our live chat on our website @ thelostco.com (360) 306-8827 // sales@thelostco.com
I have the X2 paired with a Fox Factory 36... I legitimately think That I will never be able to set all of those knobs right. Maybe going Marzocchi is the way, plus I like the Red better!
Unfortunately none of us here at The Lost Co have gotten a chance to ride the DVO Jade, but it looks incredibly similar to the Bomber CR! Both shocks have low speed compression and rebound adjustments, and the most important part of the shock is that it's coil sprung and not air sprung. Considering that the Bomber CR is $100 cheaper for a very similar shock, I would definitely get the Marzocchi! That gives you some cash for a couple springs to make sure that your sag is perfect and getting the exact ride quality you're looking for! -Tor 😎

sooo what i am hearing is to neglect my rear shock for 2 years, save the service money and when it blows up buy this shock, got it 👍😋
Well. The service cost at fox for my crappy out of warranty dpx2 is $200 dollars and fox suggests having the full service done every 150 hours..lol.
Perfect plan. That's pretty much how all my parts work.

Your videos crack me up....love the info. Thanks brother!
Running a Fox DPS in the rear would this be an upgrade for bigger hits/rock gardens?
I’m sold. This and the bomber z1 is going to be my combo!
Back in the day I put a marzocchi bomber fork on my trek 8000 and that fork was amazing. It was budget friendly and once I had it adjusted I was way faster on my trails I ride
I‘m interessted on a coil shock - bought a Push 11.6 😂
How could you buy such a cheap hunk of junk?! 😆
@@keirfarnum6811 I can‘t afford a more expensive one 🤷♂️ 🙈🙈🙈😂😂😂
Got a base Nomad and always hearing how much better the vpp is with a coil shock. I'm wanting a lockout for climbing though so I'm not sure this will be for me. Price definitely though.
Hey guys, will a Rockshox coil fit this shock? asking because they have Marzocchi Bomber CR but dont have right FOX coil right now.
couldn't expect anything less from marzocchi
Just grabbed one of these to run, as a replacement or possibly backup to a DHX2. DHX2 lasted about 12mo of relatively hard trail riding, no park. Seems like shaft seal went and it spilled its guts out the other day. Here in Canada Fox is charging $240ish for a rebuild. New bomber cr rung in $440 all in shipped. I'm really curious if I'll be able to tell the shocks apart.
How did it turn out? Did you like it?
What about the Öhlins TTX22? Love this thing...
Will the fox sls shock fit ? Or do you need adapters for it ?
yes.no
Hi I have Troy 29er as well, does this coil shock make the bike any less progressive?
Hi Guys - Will an MRP progressive spring fit this Marzocchi shock?
$682 to $955 US
What do you think ?
Would this shock be any good for me?
Do they have a spring that would take my weight?
What about reliability? I'm just a average 160 pound, 62 year old dude who is historically, pretty easy on bike parts. I have blown this shock three times in the last 6 months. The first blow, I waited 3 + weeks for a warranty ... that stunk! Now it's in for a second time at dirtlabs in Longmont CO. So three fails total. I'm over it and need to replace it with a shock that is reliable. Is anyone else dealing with multiple fails? What a pain in the ars!
Sounds great. Gonna have to make the drive over from Pullman to check out your shop
I think i will buy the bomber 58 at the front and the bomber cr at the back, for the downhill rides with my enduro bike.👍
I'm considering one of these, only because it seems like my only option at 190mm/51mm (7.5"x2.0")
Hello sir
Can this fit Marin Rift Zone 1?
It came with XFusion O2 210mmx50mm
The calculator you use says 340ish lbs, and the Marzoochi site says 380 lbs. In Capra forums for my bike people are using 500-550 lbs, but for FOX DHX2. Does brand matter? I wonder why the large differences?
I like to buy this coil shock but David from transition bike says that the Marzocchi Bomber Cr will not work on the transition patrol carbon 2019!!
And not sure why that is...??
(I did not ask!) maybe clearance issues or because of different shock tune ie: MM,LL,ML tuning issues 🤔
However he says that I could go with something like Fox,RS,Mrp or Ext !
I run a Cane Creek Coil and a Ohlins ttx coil on my dh bike. But I really would like to have a much simpler shock. 90% of riders don't even change the settings on their dhx2's and Cane creeks. SImplicity=reliability
Just ordered my looking forward to it.
How is the shock so cheap in your country? In Germany we pay 400€ plus the spring.
How much travel is that? Because I'm kinda disorriented by seeing the exact same shock on trail and dh bikes
Dnm rcp2s How does it compare?
I’m looking at buying one for my trek remedy 8 XT
I’ve been told the 230x60 will fit but they don’t come with a spring? How do I know what length I need? I’ve worked out I need a 400 but don’t now length
Any help would be appreciated

Great video 👍
Blew up mi rockshox buying this one rn
I love the part where the fire comes out of the shock. lolololol
Thinking of getting this with the crane creek progressive spring
Affordable shock? Yes please. But is it compatible with my Ripmo?
Yep of course!!
If you have a ripmo AF, yes but not the normal ripmo
"Old shock with a questionable future" Me: *looks at his Float X2*
i want one but i just bought a rock shock air shock less 50 hours on it. I think ill pick one up for bike park applications YAH!!!!
I wakt to buy this bit im confused about mounting, do i need to buy more than just the shock and the spring (commencal clash 2019)
Email us at sales@thelostco.com and we'll walk you through everything!

I have the X2 paired with a Fox Factory 36... I legitimately think That I will never be able to set all of those knobs right. Maybe going Marzocchi is the way, plus I like the Red better!
Marzocchi Bomber for the people!!
Better than the DVO Jade?
I want to see whats inside of it! Looks a whole lot like an older DHX model from the outside.
What's the difference between this ans à DVO Jade ? Who has the best performance ?
Unfortunately none of us here at The Lost Co have gotten a chance to ride the DVO Jade, but it looks incredibly similar to the Bomber CR! Both shocks have low speed compression and rebound adjustments, and the most important part of the shock is that it's coil sprung and not air sprung. Considering that the Bomber CR is $100 cheaper for a very similar shock, I would definitely get the Marzocchi! That gives you some cash for a couple springs to make sure that your sag is perfect and getting the exact ride quality you're looking for!

What bike is that?
