I was thinking about this. The issues with the teams was 'an 11th team'. But given the chance if they could swap alpine for Andretti or any other newcomer with racing history, I bet they would say "yeah sure!"
The biggest issue I see is that Renault's bosses are doing the Toyota routine: set unreasonable expectations and timetables, then fire everyone when those expectations aren't met.
yeah Alpine - Renault has all of the warning signs of a dying team, which is weird because Renault has won championships before and has supplied engines to teams that went on to dominate.

@@Kiwing827 4 if you count his leadership when the team was benetton, to be fair though Renault's slide into mediocrity began while Flavio was still there, the exact same kind of corporate meddling that plagues the Enstone team today pushed them into the midfield the moment it started.
imo it sure does seem plausible that the pressure put on the team by the corporate side of the team played directly into the whole spin-gate debacle.

I don't think they care about the performance. They care about getting at least the same amount of money back in as they put in, cause they escape taxes that way.
The performance of the Renault team has been 'very french' from before the Abiteboul era. No one expects that team to go forward. If they could, they would've done so by now.
Otmar getting dumped showed everything we needed to know about Alpine.
Otmar left Aston Martin to join them but he didn't last 2 season and was never given he powers to sign drivers. Laurent played with him that costed him his respect until we found out that Laurent the whole time was lying because he was the CEO not otmar who was just responsible for factory and team.
Seriously, Famin looks and sounds like a total joke... He has -20 charisma and looks like he just wants to go to bed cuz life is hard... 😂

I feel like Famin is so delusional in thinking he can run the team and make it fight for victories. He just doesn’t understand what ik takes to build a winning team and it all starts with a stable management, something which has gone horrible. It’s typical French culture: overestimating yourself and always coming up with solutions that only solve half of the problem
I am not French, but I can name you a lot of French success people, Pierre Wache for starters.

Definitely bad management by Renault. Useless suits put in places where they don't belong.
Renault management made a rookie mistake. They received investment last year, and with added pressure, they decided to make a change for the sake of change to show investors they are trying when they should show patience. They replaced their experienced leader with the backstabbing, scheming Famin, who has no idea how to run an F1 team. Now they are paying the price.
This is a pitfall when you are too focused on immediate results.

Mercedes was nowhere near as mismanaged as Renault is though, and, in the years leading up to the turbo hybrid regulations Mercedes actually progressed up the field.
Alpine continues to slide backwards.
if they actually manage to put a decent car together for 2025 and go into the new regulations with some level of success behind them then yeah, that would be pretty hopeful for the team going forward but based on their current situation that seems incredibly unlikely, especially given how keen the current management staff are whenever there is an opportunity to blame all of their shortcomings on the previous management staff..
