  • I thought I would check this out and wow, I obviously was not disappointed. This performance literally brought the house down. These 3 guys are just absolute icons and will never be forgotten. I still can't believe the sound they make with just three dudes.

    saw live over 15 times!!! :) ♥ also.... When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

    First time I was able to see them live was in 1980 , I was lucky enough to see them live 19 times before they called it a done deal . They were 100% on point every time and never disappointed . out of over a thousand concerts I have been to in my life they have always been at the top of the list

    110 decibels in your face vibrating your insides moving at speeds that you can't even comprehend that's what it was like to go to a rush concert. It's like steering down a jet engine controlled and played melodiously syncopation and patterns that grab your attention and don't let you go for 2 hours. Every Rush concert I ever went to everyone stood up for the whole thing because the energy was so intense.

    Dude, that medley is the WHOLE Rush recipe in 10 minutes. It brought reflections of Zeppelin in ‘Byror’ and ‘In the Mood’ with the heavy drumming and guitar, shades of future thrash(Metallica)on the ‘Grand Finale’ Tool and Yes, even some Floyd dare I say. Rush could DO IT ALL and bring it on EVERY OCCASION like no other band before or since.🤘🖖✌️🎸🥁🎤🎹🥇🇨🇦🎼

    Lee, Rush is absolutely magical live. I had the amazing experience of seeing them play live 5 times. Grace Under Pressure or Exit Stage Left live albums are my favorites. Rush by far Masterpiece albums are Permanent Waves from 1980 and Hemispheres from1978. My favorite Rush album is Power Windows Every song is a poetic gem. Enjoying your journey of reacting to Rush.

    So stoked watching you enjoy the monster band that gave us the “soundtrack of our lives”!! Again… this was an @StickHits re-master! Just great quality! By-Tor was only 1/2 the song off of Fly By Night as was the Grand Finale from 2112! The other stuff was all off their 1st album which Neil didn’t even play on… lol!! Just excellent musicians! I might be old…but I got to see RUSH live more than once! Wish everyone could have! Be well and God bless… from Texas!!

    🤔 Memory isn't so sharp these says, but I think I remember them bringing 2112 back during R30, R40 & The Time Machine Tours! 🤗 We were alsways glad to see Rush back in the Tri-State Area every few years 😁 for decades! 🥰🐰

    @elvwood 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Memory is tricksy. I lost a year of my life when I couldn't make memories due to a combination of pain and high-dosage painkillers, when my children were still growing, and I resent that. My mother had dementia, and when she no longer knew who I was she thought I was her brother, who she loved dearly (I'm named after him). That was some comfort. I am taking active steps to stave off dementia but also taking precautions, like recording a message for my memorial while I know what I want to say; hopefully I'll have changed and grown and rerecorded it many times before that happens, though!
    As for Rush, although I'm more a 70s kid I have a nostalgic feeling around Signals because that was the tour when I first saw them live. Do what works best for you, though!

    Live versions are good, and Rush always played perfect live. But listen to the original studio versions for the best! Bytor is a story about two dogs that used to fight in the studio. One was big and called "Biter" because that's what he did. The other was little and they called him "Snowdog".

    Lee, to see them Live back in the day was a spiritual experience! Blown deep into your seat by the power and the glory, only to erupt in applause and screams at the end of each song!! I saw them first in ‘77 on the Farewell to Kings tour and have ( almost) never missed a tour since until 2015!!

    I have gone through this memory thing before, too. Mind used to be like a steel trap, memory was almost eidetic with the level of detail it recorded, never had to write anything down. But it's a sign of aging; hits some people worse than others. I will say long-term stress worsens it. Stress increases levels of cortisol, and long-term exposure to cortisol actually impairs the hippocampus, which not coincidentally is where Alzheimer's first manifests. But I noticed it starting in my late 20's. For years I kept a journal so I could remember when I did things, like attend concerts or parties or whatever. You will get to the point where you will remember going to a certain New Year's Eve party, but you won't remember which year it was, or who's house it was at, stuff like that. It freaked me out when it started happening, but you adapt, and now I'm 51. And my friends are the same way: walk into a room and you can't remember the reason why you are there, or you get introduced to someone and ten minutes later you have no clue what their name is. I make a lot of lists, that's for sure.

    • @L33Reacts
      @L33Reacts  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for typing this out. Seriously. I needed to hear it. I was kind of freaking out I'm not gonna lie. Thank you for telling me I'm not alone lol. I have NEVER had to write a single thing down. My memory is insane. I can still name every single pokemon from when I was a kid. But my memories of conversations and actually some people are gone. It's fucking terrifying lol

    Signals is great, of course. I love all Rush but I have a special connection with Rush from the 1980's. Those were great years for me. Stuff from the 1984 "Grace Under Pressure" album is also great.

    As other subs have commented on, if you’ve had such a demand for By-Tor you should really do the studio version in its entirety. This concert version you’ve chosen is a medley of 4 songs strung together. All are mostly partials. By-Tor and The Snow Dog is interrupted half way through the song to jump to In The End and so on.

      I am still doing it, I just wanted to get this out to go along with the super long video I posted this morning. I can't leave my classic fans on read while I do a whole album reaction for the modern fans 😁

      @@L33ReactsNo worries. You will see where you left off. By-Tor continues into an epic slow section before it builds up again to a bluesy solo then finale. It’s Rush’s first storyline song which as you know they continues in many other albums. The sequel to this is “The Necromancer” on Caress of Steel. Highly recommend following up with this as your next Rush review.

    Great reaction as usual, Lee. Would still like to see you focus on studio versions before watching live footage but that's just my own bias to help me focus on the performance of the music and not the stage presence. Whatever works for you, bud. Also on an unrelated note, today (10/25) is Jon Anderson's 79th birthday.

    It's hard to overstate the importance of Exit.. Stage Left (record AND video) on Rush's fortunes at the time. Yeah, they'd just released their most popular album, but here was proof that they were also an amazing live band. Plus it gave new fans their first exposure to older music like this. It helped to create an entire legion of hard core fans that stayed with them to the end.
