You should hear the ways that we pronounce the French words in English and Spanish dance classes. 💀 "Tawn-doo" "Rawn dih zhawm" "plee-ayye" "Eh-carr- taye" It would make you giggle! What I have always found cool though, is that the pronunciation of dance terms is often better than when Yankees learn French terms in school, because the language is given to us audibly in dance and rarely ever written, like it is in academic settings.
Phrases don’t need to be translated word for word or they lose their nuance. Circle of the leg is not good english. Individual words should be translated as closely as possible
As a French person I was shocked that French word are kept in other languages for ballet 😭

Same! I've heard so many people be extra confident in their prononciation while the were torturing the words 😂
It’s not ron but rond :)
Nope pretty sure it’s ron
@@Certifiedjakesullysimp As a french, I can confirm it's "rond"
@@Certifiedjakesullysimpit’s rond
@@alexozcer6281 thanks for clearing it up! I’m a new French student lol.
Yes rond !
This was one of my competitive dance routines song for ballet!
Retire is to return-
Ron de jambe is circle of the leg-
Tendu is to stretch and point
Everything you just said are synonymous to her definitions
all the years of french and dance of I've done and I never once put 2 and 2 together with pas de chat
No, ecarte is an alignment position. A way of standing depending on your alignment to your front
Not my ballet teacher saying my while my whole class is gymnasts so we should be able to do this and making us do it the first day we met her
Yea and now just try translate the allegro variations there are out there
Frfr 😭
fr😭😂
BEAUTIFUL!!!
Before ballet I had no idea what this song meant. Now understanding everything makes me feel so good lmao
FFS please CLOSE ur first position fully 😭😭
For first position, if you have hyper extended knees, they will hit causing your first position to not be fully closed, and that’s perfectly fine
I have this sound memorized now…
I remember some of these from my color guard days
Why is this so catchy!
That was perfect!!!
No that was not close did u see her first poison and I’m pretty sure she messed up one
pliè is bend in french…
Yeah i now her feet weren’t closed in first there supposed to touch Broski @@Sophia15708
i thought rond de jambe was circle of the leg
It is haha

Circle in french is actually cercle; round the leg actually makes more sense
Beautiful, just make sure to come all the way in, in first place when you're doing the tendu's.😊
Imagine your ballet teacher started using the english version instead of french😂😂😂
Beautiful 👌 👏👏👏
Ron de jambe is circle of the leg…
Oh that's what Madame Giry was telling the ballerinas in Phantom lol
Ew that first position😢😢😢
Quero mais ❤
Et inlassablement, faire et refaire, jusqu'à la perfection👍👏😘
oh dear....I'm sorry 😁🫣

Tendu means stretch!? I thought it meant brush
Okay, but put your heels together please...
Én tornázok meg lovagolok de a tornán szoktunk balettozni is ügyes vagy
I think it’s funny that leg is Jambe here and ham is jambon xD
I love languages
jambon is the leg of the pork bc jambe and jambon r from the fame etymology n essentially mean the same thing
