BMW would still win, they’re naturally just faster. Luxury wise, Mercedes takes it, but at this point I’d stop racing it and enjoy it for what it is.

The fastest X7 is actually the XB7. It has 108 hp more than the X7 M60i.
And it's ALPINA so any can say fastest GLS is Manhart GLS 900 with 900HP. You see where it leads??? Here we have stock fabricated cars

Very nice match-up. One thing with BMW vehicles either if it's cars or SUVs, they have top end power. In this video, no exception. The X7 just pulls away. After certain RPMs, that's when the true power comes in.
These two beasts going 4.0 and 4.2 is simple mind boggling. Admittedly, I expected the Benz to be totally smoked but it was much closer. I actually like how these two cars are positioned. They aren't exact competitors, per se as the BMW is more performance oriented as it's a sub-M model and the Benz is not an sub-AMG model so it leans towards luxury. So they give buyers the option of sport vs. luxury. Personally, I'd take the Benz..

Put an ECU Rentech tune on my GLS580 which they say gets it up to the AMG 63 horsepower. It definitely woke it up and allowed more boost. I bet with that tune in this race the 580 has the legs. Just saying that you can get that version with AMG power for a couple grand more and do not have to worry about the BMW anymore. Both rocket buses for families.

It's a matter of taste which model you choose, I took the X7, it is and simply looks sportier.

Well yes, technically this is the closest matchup you can arrange. But in reality it should be BMW's problem that that's their highest performance offering for the class.
It should have really been the highest performance vs highest performance on both brands offerings. That's what's most fair imo.

@@reynaldocordero4247 good call, although it’s an xb7. The trim level on an xb7 would be higher and likely not be so track oriented as a hypothetical x7m. Alpina is the more luxury oriented division of BMW.

What you are saying is that the M340i should race the C63AMG
The X7M60i used an S68 engine - the real M cars use the S63 which is better built and more BHP etc. The GLS63 AMG uses a hand built AMG engine which makes sense to race an X7M which unfortunately doesn’t exist. The closest would be the Alpina X7.
The brakes on the GLS are some of the worst that I’ve ever had on a vehicle! It is intentional because MB’s brakes are proprietary and every 10k full brake job all the way around incl. rotors!! Care to guess the cost!?
Better terminology would be it’s not the XB7 Alpina Vs. GLS 63 AMG even though the Benz would get spanked.

Bmw are more conservative when it comes output quotes Merc are bit closer to the actual....in the race the transmission plays also an important role

What does matter is reliability, your so called “w223” s class has been a garbage built S class, as my mechanics hated this like shit because it needs to repaired every single day, the 7 series meanwhile beats the S class out of the park with its luxury, I would not be swapping my w221 and w222 for the shitty ass w223

Nothing you just said was true. GLS is bigger, heavier, not an AMG, and it has a 4.0. The X7 has the S68 motor, which is an M engine

Don't agree with video or race. Should have race with a AMG for better comparison. The M Competition is above the M. So a AMG could not even compete with that. This is a real M to be clear not some badging on a regular X7. Regular X7 have a V6 not V8.

The X7 M60i doesn’t have the real M Engine. Otherwise it would have been called X7M - like the M340i that has M badges everywhere but similar engine to the M3.
