Do you all monitor the system when you take it on the trail? I noticed my Sprinter vans power loss could have been attributed to heat. Slight smell of transmission fluid while I was trying to get myself uphill on a rocky trail. It would ALMOST get into the boost, then then the computer would just cut power. I could tell the powertrain was getting hot and every attempt was less and less productive. I let it sit for an hour and it worked much better, but ended up winching myself up the rest of the way. It never got enough power or momentum to get up the hill on its own.
Loving the content. We pick up our AWD Classic in a few weeks. What kind of highway MPG are you seeing with the upfit mods you have done, with the new 4cycl?
Just did 80mph with a headwind from CO to PA with full gear / water etc and averaged 10mpg. Really depends on tire size and weight. My normal average is about 14mpg
I loved this series! All those sprinters looked dope out on some pretty agressive trails. Like a herd of bull elephants marching on.

I would say not without some damage. There are some points on this route where a long wheelbase would definitely have trouble.

Are you driving a 4x4 or awd?
@@TalonSei 4x4 low, with agile locker. I’m hoping your AWD faired better than others with 4x4 in your group.
Great video. Did the OM642 V-6 that couldn't pull the hill have a Renntech tune? Or is it a stock ECU flash?
Stock ECU. A tune might have helped but in the past 2 videos even the tuned vans struggled above 11,500 when off road.

So cool, how do you think stock STO Stealth tires and wheels would do?
The wheels and tires would be fine but I wouldn’t recommend doing trails like this with stock suspension

Yup the only AWDs we’re my Storyteller and Tim’s as well. If Dave had a cleaner air filter he probably could have made it 😂

100% most people who have experience with both prefer the awd
