It would not be that developed, too! As a Myanmar, I can clearly state that Thibaw Min did not acutally love the country. He was only crowned because of Sin Phyu Ma Shin, mother of his wife Su Paya Lat, with an idea to manipulate him and rule the kingdom all by herself. Honestly, only a few kings and queens of Myanmar actually loved and served the country, and this king and queen did not include in this list. So, sadly, no matter the UK invaded our country or not, the country would not have a high chance to develop. The situations these days are just due to actions of the military junta. Hope Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who truly loves her country, be released soon!

@@georgetware2098 im british indian and few people apologise. i understand as it's their ancestors doing but there isn't much talk from citizens about lobbying the gov't to help improve the commonwealth's economy and education. Many simply don't care personally. the politics doesn't matter but the individual. In my view all people should treat others fairly and not be hypocritical. Some justify colonialisation and say it wasn't that bad. Britain wasn't as bad as the afghans but they still did bad. The government doesn't apologise either. They urge india to cut down their fossil fuel use but don't help money wise. Is it not unfair for the UK to enjoy a high standard of life from fossil fuels and exploitation and deny others. There is only one planet and we need to work asap on the environment but it would be better if western countries helped to develop eastern ones with no strings attached aid. The uk still hasn't repaid iran too. One problem is corruption but still, more could be done.

The british citizens are innocent but some are quite ignorant, part of human nature. i don't let it ruin my day if somebody thinks the empire was perfect, i just assume they have incomplete information and talk about the subject as if I were explaining it to a kid. I think the uk can be a force for good still. We do promote good values and respect for people's freedoms like freedom of speech, help for people with disabilities, the charity work people do. Great....what happened next? Why is the history of Burma so hard to find!!! I’m trying to find out if Muslims were indigenous to the land or just came in and settled like the Christians and the other group (I forgot who they were).
Why are there no in-depth history of Burma TH-cam videos? The only ones are 5-7 minutes long. If that were my homeland, I’d want my homeland’s history to be told!
I might not be able to make a documentary, so I’d just point a damn camera at my face, sit on a chair, and record myself telling the most honest and comprehensive account of Burma/Myanmar’s history. Someone needs to do this! You don’t know how many people across the world would love and appreciate this effort! I’m an American and would love to hear about your beautiful country and the insurmountable struggles you guys faced and overcame to be what you are today!
Much love and respect from the USA.

To those asking about Burmese history. Know that prior to British, many tribes that are a part of tiday's Burma had their own rulers but the British ruled them all as part of British Burma and then handed political power to Burman tribe when they left to to create problèms. Burmanization has been forced on these tribes.
A lot of those who claim to be Burman has other tribal blood in them. As for the Burma, wiki does provide correct info as follows:
A 2014 DNA analysis shows that Burmese people were "typical Southeast Asian" but "also with Northeast Asian and Indian influences" and that the gene pool of the Bamar was far more diverse than other ethnic groups such as the Karen. They are closer to the Yi and Mon people than to the Karen.[3]
Ninth century Chinese sources indicate that Sino-Tibetan-speaking tribes were present near today's Irrawaddy River.[5][6] These tribes were considered ancestors of Bamar people.[7]
    Languages:
Burmese, is spoken by the Bamar but is also widely spoken by ethnic minorities. Its core vocabulary consists of Sino-Tibetan words, but many terms associated with Buddhism, arts, sciences and government have derived from the Indo-European languages of Pali and English.
The Rakhine, although culturally distinct from the Bamar, are ethnically related and speak a dialect of Burmese that includes retention of the /r/ sound, which has coalesced into the /j/ sound in standard Burmese (although it is still present in orthography).
Additional dialects come from coastal areas of Tanintharyi Region including Myeik (Beik) and Dawei (Tavoyan) as well as inland and isolated areas like Yaw.
Other dialects are Taungyoe, Danu and Intha in Shan State.[8]
English was introduced in the 1800s when the Bamar first came into contact with the British as a trading nation and continued to flourish under subsequent colonial rule.
    Culture and society
Bamar culture has been influenced by those of neighboring countries. This is manifested in its language, cuisine, music, dance and theatre.
    Today
    As fir

"Hurr durr being divided tribes is better instead of unified and forced assimilated by the strongest"
This idiotic idea is why you weakling got easily conquered and the if you revert back if will happen yet again.
Only one culture, one people, one race, one empire will rule the world one day and all others but destroyed, it's natural way.
stop being crybabies and seeking sympathy from foreigners, you won't get any.

Not true. King Thibaw at the age ot 19 sat on the throne and within 5 months of taking the throne over 80 of his relatives were savagely beaten to death in a massacre that lasted 3 days. NOT before he took the throne and his mother may have instigated the murders but he was NOT without guilt. It was a known fact BEFORE the British took over that the regime was a savage brutal regime and needed some power to kick out the despot with the god complex. They didn't beat him to death but exiled him to India paying for his living expenses, his house, his servants and more. 👀

    • @aryanraina1076
      @aryanraina1076 ปีที่แล้ว +1

but they gave him a very small plot compared to what he had and they disrespected him by giving him a very small space for his grave. plus he didn't initiate the killings it was his family and he likely had control over this. Also it was quite rude to exile king thibaw out of his own country if he didn't do anything that bad when it was his father. the east india company were quite rude, but not completely horrible, they had some good qualities but overall were bad.
