The part of the song where Suga rapped “pathetic fvcks putting on a talent show, not gonna lie what a shit show” was referring to S!mon C0weLL launching a boyband search last year in which he sad ~that he will produce the biggest boyband in the world and saying while Kpop is ruling over the world, its time for UK-POP.~ 😂

I'm pretty sure this is not true.. bcz I have watched so many historical shows and documentaries.. not many characters had scar but some characters had scar.. For example, there is 수양대군 in movie "관상The Face Reader".. He had impressive scar on his face and it didn't matter in the movie. Also I looked up for such information but there was none about this.. 🤔

Yet again Yoongi has left me speechless and managed to show me why he is my all time favourite and number 1 rapper in the entire music industry to date
For those who don't know:
*Min Yoongi is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, and record producer that goes by Agust D on his solowork.*
Yoongi is also one of the 3 rappers in the South Korean group BTS + one of their producers and songwrighters and goes by Suga with BTS etc.
Min Yoongi was a undergroud rapper before joining the company/agency Big Hit Entertainment to be a producer but then became part of the group BTS along with 6 other people (2 other rappers & 4 vocalists) when BTS was formed and they make music in all sorts of genres.
The 7 BTS members are all different multitalants and the group members all can sing or rap or both and dance and wrights music. But BTS members have a mix of talents like some are well educated dancers in different genras and/or songwrighters and/or producers and/or singers and/or rappers and/or can play different instruments etc etc.
*Min Yoongi still does solowork outside of BTS as both a songwrighter and producer for other artists and sometimes collabs as a rapper then usually under the name Suga and he does his own solo music too like this as Agust D.*
The building you see in the MV is a palace and you see him dressed as a king.
Daechwita (literally `great blowing and hitting`) is a genre of Korean traditional music consisting of military music played by the army with wind and percussion instruments, generally performed while marching. It is a traditional Korean music style played by the army while marching to war and played while the king is in a procession. Yoongi himself said it's a song played while the king is in a procession.

I think he talks about the music industry (the prince or king in the video) and the big 3 (see the three dangling heads in the MV). There are historical backgrounds in the video that a non-Korean can hardly explain. What I also know is that in Korea someone with scars cannot become a king ... (the king there has a scar on his face and he also says he is the king) ... so I think we have to wait for the explanaition video👍
Lisa T I'm not Korean, but I know about the scar :) But there is a "Roman" gesture of the king, which the Koreans probably don't know what it means. In the Roman Empire, during gladiatorial battles, the emperor determined whether a defeated gladiator lived or died. Thumbs up - live, thumbs down - die!
대취다 (Daechwita) its a traditional korean music for when the king leaved the palace. They played the music to announce that the king was going in a walk, and everyone had to bow to him.
This song is not only hard in the energy and beat, he used a lot of curses with out censoring it, and thats rare in korea, rly going against the society, also in korean history, if the king had any scar in his face he was automatically banned of the throne.
I heard a korean said, if you wanna be a king you cant have scars , so he has scars just show how powerful he is 😄
In the lyrics Yoongi makes reference to Gwanghae. He was 15th king in the Joseon Dynasty (mv is set in Joseon times). He was deposed in a coup and exiled to Jeju island. Although Gwanghaegun is one of only two deposed kings who were not restored and given the temple name (the other one being Yeonsangun), many people consider him a victim of feuds between political factions.
I read into this MV as Street Yoongi is deposing the big 3 (blonde king Yoongi) who tried to hold BTS/Bighit down and destroy them by using their influencial power as entertainment royalty. Yoongi holds a coup to show he's now bigger than the king and subsequently proves it by killing them instead.
Just a guess but many others share this theory too :)

This rap started hard and went harder and harder. Suga leaves no doubt who is the KING! We are NOT WORTHY. My eyes widen at the part in the video where he his carrying the box with the severed head and the severed head hanging off of the porch. He is rappin' Daechwita!! Play it loud, which to me; the King is entering, play his music loud! My other favorite part is when he rappin' the part about: others excuse for poppin' pills and Suga basically says. cry me a river. And then he does this amazing Sword Dance. It was so authentic and Yoongi pulled it off as the pro he is. I love how he uses their history, their lineage, their ancestry to paint the viewer a story. With this beautiful backdrop to film to satisfy the pickiest of film critics. Off With Your Head!

He didn’t just break stereotypes by being a king with a scar, he is also portraying himself as a king with blond hair, which could be perceived as scandalous for very conservative Korean people. I also interpret the fact that both his personas in this video have the scar, his “king-self” and his “old-self”, as if he is saying that he has always been a king, always been on top, no matter other people’s perceptions at the time, he was and still is himself. God, so much swagger being displayed by someone who at the end of the day is really quite humble.
I think maybe the King (I'm not sure if he's AgustD or Suga, so bear with me) represents him who has accomplished mostly all of the goals he set for himself. He has fame, money and climbed up so much higher than expected.
And the blackhaired Yoongi/Suga represents a new person with new goals and new ways to perform his arts. But to start something new, he has to end the old.
That would explain the contrasts from traditional/old (palace, clothing and sword) to modern/new (car, again clothes and a gun).
Also he mentions Bang PD. I think Augst D is flying in the face of past crooked music dynasty
I think he said "tic tok" because in the previous line he was talking about time (his time was worth more), nothing to do with the app :)

I can’t pick a fave yet rn.i have to give it a second listen at least but I will say that the production is sooooo gooodddd. I thought the last track (“dear my friend”) was perfect to wrap up the mixtape and the penultimate song (set me free) was a perfect match to it.

that "tiktok got a stick up your ass" line is most probably thrown at this new trend by a lot of rappers and musicians in general who are trying to make hits via corny tiktok trends going viral. for example in korea too there was a recent case where a rapper's song became big thanks to the song being used in a tiktok trend by famous korean celebs. but obviously it's not just korean musicians who that line can be applied to, plenty western artists (even really big ones) been looking real funny by trying to force a tiktok viral hit song just to see it go somewhere in charts too. i see that line as a double shade, first interpreting it as those ppl caring so much about tiktok now as a musicians, and then "stick up your ass" as in their success being propped up by forced tiktok trends.

@@MUNFUProffitt i don't even know...zico and rm used to rap together back in the day...i feeeel like yoongi's come for him before as well but i could be mistaken...i don't even know if it's super personal or if it's just his attitude towards korean artists thinking that they're bigger than bts cos they had a tiktok hit lol...assuming it is about that but there's sort of nothing else for it to be about lol
cos zico had this song that got huge in korea cos it became a tiktok trend with loads of other korean artists getting involved, and i think it outcharted bts at one point in time, like quite a while after their release or something, i can't remember the specifics
