I really really like this format and style.
Maybe theres a video that already has this but I'd love a basics video that focuses on those "these stone are dead but I let them live" situations. At least showing the simple situations where it's super easy to ensure that those stones do not live while still keeping to basic fundamentals.

I am so guilty of responding too aggressive or passively to their early sector line reductions. I really needed this. Thanks so much.

Great video! A potential idea: Maybe it would be good to restate the major points you made throughout the video at the end, summarizing your lecture.

    Great lecture!
One point: I think you realized yourself when the 6d knowledge kicked in: the invasion point of that humongous moyo in game 3. I'm 1d-2d and wouldn't come up with that, at least not with the same confidence. So playing WITH influence probably allows for more basic moves and ideas than playing against it.

As a DDK, seeing that third game invasion point and being told "That lives." with such confidence changed my world view. Well, my invasion world view.

I have approached influence in a completely different way ever since learning about AlphaGo and especially after witnessing the AlphaGo games versus Sedol and Ke Jie. For me, "influence in the game of Go" is no longer a word that describes a vague, long-term effect that may or may not amount to anything later on. What it really is, is describing huge, vast numbers of calculations of future moves pertaining to a group of stones on the board. It is merely a really large-scale version of local fighting, where reading is important. Well, ALL of Go is nothing but reading. "Influence" is simply taking localised, small-scale reading and enlarging it to include pretty much the entire board, which is something humans can't really do very well compared to A.I. (we couldn't do it well before A.I. either, but human-versus-human made it okay).
That being said, I am not advocating immediately dropping a stone next to a large wall every chance you get and hoping your human opponent will make a mistake and NOT effectively attack it for infinite points and/or kill it outright.

I did a count of points for both sides in the first game (at the point just before you cut to the next game). That is a REALLY close game I am seeing. Black has about 50 points, while White also has about 50 points plus Komi. So White is only winning by Komi at this point. Black can ignore White E-8 completely.
