You actually need to hear it on the alnum... from "Bye Bye Love" it transitions to "Moving In Stereo" and then to "All Mixed Up", which is one of my favorite Cars songs. That amazing experience of discovery as you unwrap the plastic from an album, carefully remove the disk from the sleeve, gently place it on the turntable, and then sit back to take a first listen -- Track 1 on Side 1 through Track 9 on Side 2 -- while you read the liner notes is one that is totally missed by the youth of today. I can remember spending hours with friends listening to and discussing each track -- air drumming/guitaring/keyboarding all the while. When this album came out, we didn't have video games or smart phones or anything like that... we had music, real music, and it was a blessing. 1978 was an amazing year for music... The Cars (The Cars), Parallel Lines by Blondie, Pieces of Eight by Styx, Who Are You by The Who, Double Vision by Foreigner, Darkness on the Edge of Town by Bruce, Jazz by Queen, Son of a Son of Sailor by Jimmy, Champagne Jame by ARS, Don't Look Back by Boston, Outlandos D'Amour by the Police, and many others... all lifelines that saved us from that "thing" called disco and kept us safe when urban cowboys started taking over the radios... until we were rescued by Pat Benatar, REM, and U2 (I'm actually looking through my cassette tape collection from back then as I write this). You know how you guys do the whole movie thing? Have you ever thought about doing an album thing? I am sure you would get a lot of folks providing lists of albums you need to react to as you listen from start to finish. Just a thought. Keep it up, we are loving your reactions... and we are still waiting for "Nightswimming", "Find the River", and "We All Go Back to Where We Belong" by REM... the latter being their last released single in 2011. And oh, for Female Fridays, we need "Hammer and a Nail" by Indigo Girls. You'll understand when you hear it and listen to the lyrics...

@@seancassidy674 Okay. I based my comment on what Ocasek said one time on Rocklines. That 30's thing stuck with me, as I tried to put together a band when I was in my 20's.
Great album! It was released in mid-1978 but there were so many single hits that they were still being released & played on the radio the following year. My husband & I were newly married in 1979 and he came home with this album. Just What I Needed & especially Moving in Stereo were my favorites. Blessings❤
Easily my favorite Cars song! Benjamin Orr, who was the bassist, sang lead on this and he kills it! Sadly he passed away before they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A banger of a song!
At the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame opening, I hung out with Ben for a while. Super nice guy and funny. My dad was inducted in 1993 so I got a private tour the day before it opened. JF

The whole album kicks ass! I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve heard this entire thing, driving around town on the weekends in high school and then college.
Remember partying at the lake in the summer of 79 listening to this on the car stereo 😂 then putting on the next 8 track of Candy-O to keep the good times rolling...and they were great times ❤
They came out when I was in high school and they just sounded so new at the time and yeah people that got into them quickly also liked the Talking Heads and whatnot, but I have to tell you I went and saw them on their first album tour, and I cannot for the life of me remember who they opened for, but it was kind of a metal act, but somebody that everybody loved, it was like hard rock turning into metal at the time. And I was surprised at the pairing but I was also surprised at how well everybody got along as an overall audience. I had always had a foot in both worlds at that young age. And it was a really great experience.
I really miss the Cars. I normally listen to harder stuff but the Cars was just one of those bands that just about anybody could listen to and enjoy. The Cars is one of those bands you didn't realize how much you enjoyed them until they aren't there to enjoy anymore.

The Cars were all in their 30's by the time they had a hit. They put out four albums in a row that
they had basically been working on since the mid 70's. Every one is a classic. "Heartbeat City", their fifth album is also great.
Yes, I highly recommend a reaction to their performance of Heartbeat City at Live Aid.
not quite, Ric was, Orr almost, the other three were younger - Easton, the youngest, was around 24 when this album came out.
@@seancassidy674 Okay. I based my comment on what Ocasek said one time on Rocklines. That 30's thing stuck with me, as I tried to put together a band when I was in my 20's.
Then it goes right into "Moving In Stereo", another quirky song.
Very unique vocal style. Good basic, straight ahead stuff like the Stones or CCR.
JF
The sound that morph's from this song to the next is excellent. Moving in Stereo.
The Cars had so many hits. I always thought of them in the same way that I thought of Tears for Fears, because of theiir master songwriting, two lead singers, versatility and ability to put out great music on a consistent basis. RIP Benjamin Orr and Ric Ocsasek.
Right when it ended I could hear MOVING IN STEREO starting up in my head. It follows Bye Bye Love on the album.
Thanks for reacting to the Cars again! This was sung by the late, great Benjamin Orr. Ric Ocasek was the other singer of the Cars, but Benjamin Orr was always my favorite. This band is legendary, and their song catalog is amazing!
This album debut in 1978 if I remember right. I was to be a freshman in HS the following year. I will be 60 in May now and I still rock out w/this album while in the car. Its been one of my all-time favorites. It never gets old. Just better and better!
Tracks 7 .. #Bye Bye Love ... Track 8 .. #Moving in Stereo and Track 9 .. #All Mixed Up .. the song melodies flow into one another and should actually be played and listened to as just one continuous song. 🤘😎🤘
This debut changed the pop-rock sound with tight everything. The Knack and countless others followed their lead.
Love this song, it takes me back to the 80’s when my wife and I were dating and going out dancing.
The Cars debut album is one of the best debut albums in history. Every song is fabulous!I'll go a.step further..The first two albums are top notch.
This song sparks memories of Saturday night, me cruising along on the Sunset Strip, my car packed with girlfriends, sunroof open and singing at the top of our lungs, just having a great time. What a fun memory, thank you.
