Such documentaries are what will make the people of Kenya not be taken for a ride by politicians. Keep doing this Sikolia. I'm waiting for a documentary on "the Handshake"
Honestly, we were made to believe Kikuyu are thankless and untrustworthy and even the Equity loans were politicized. I remember Raila said Kibaki took the government money and put in Equity to help his community. We were blinded by propaganda and we were politically immature.
It was the worst thing ever and ended up creating this handshake culture that we have today where every politician wants to join the government instead of holding it accountable.
We are very dishonest to each other as a country, no wonder we are in trouble all the time. Kibaki was a good president. But, very regretfully, he rigged the election. There would have been no violence had he accepted defeat. It would have strengthened our electoral democracy. But guess what, we ended up with Uhuru and Ruto. Uhuru was interested in growing family business, while Ruto stole whatever he could lay his hands on. And we are stuck with the same Ruto, with Mt Kenya under his imprisonment, and our freedom and liberty now threatened by the impending violent kleptocracy that Ruto promises. Ask yourself why the people who denied Rao the presidency now want him to lead. I wish we had a country where we do not give much priority to political thugs. Such a system will happen when we wrest control of our economy from the government/politicians, back to households. Let me give an example, if we had famine, what stops the private sector from importing maize and selling it at market prices? Instead, we allow the government to import maize at exorbitant prices, and the next day you hear a minister looted from that project. Can we have truly free markets? Can we confine the government to doing what it was initially established to do, under the social contract, and hence reduce the influence of ignorant and greedy politicians on our economy?
Precedence of rigging and violence was set by Kibaki ( though it happened in Moi era but not to this scale) . UK did it in 2017 and Ruto will do it in 2027
No one was innocent apart from the children. We all participated in this tribal contest and there was only going to be one outcome if the 1 defeated the 41.
Kenyans should never lift a finger against their neighbours because of politicians They sit at home as billionaires as people languish trying to earn a living
Kibaki was a good man bar the Mt.Kenya Mafia who surrounded him and sacrificed 1,300 souls so that he retains Power in 2007. Majority of those Mafia are now long dead. Life is indeed fickle. GOD BLESS & PROTECT KENYA
Kibaki promised to deliver a new constitution within 100 days because the Bomas Draft Constitution was ready. Everyone was expecting it to come through. All it needed was parliamentary approval. Where did they hide this document ? Bomas draft had recieved such wide acceptance because it had been designed by delegates from all over Kenya in a calm and calculated environment. If Kenya wants to prosper as a nation and maintain peace after it's elections, we need to overcome the winner takes all mentality. True devolution must take place to raise the status of all kenyans in an equitable way. The Bomas sitting should be revived and the draft revised to fit our experiences in these two decades. God bless Kenya
The bomas draft advocated for the position of a powerful prime ministerial position that raila was to occupy in the next election (07) based on the MOU they had signed during the formation of the Narc coalition.
He's dead and he's being held to account for his tribalism, stealing of the elections and the aftermath of it. His tribe can't save him wherever he is.
