  • Okay - maybe it is not the coolest electric bass guitar ever... let me know what you think? Gold never goes out of style, apparently. This video series will document trying to put this bass together, for a friend, with the parts that he has left me to work with. There are going to be some issues, so be prepared to discover them with me over the next few videos. Thanks again for watching!

Some bushings in the tuner holes could be a temporary measure until better ones are found but I think the holes were drilled for the vintage style tuners with the four screws and there may not be enough room for the mounting plate.

Pick ups sound decent. Nice job on assembly! The bass is visually reminiscent of something retro that Verdine White from Earth, Wind & Fire would have played back in the day (did I just show my age? ha). Definitely some funkadelic blingy stuff. If I see the model hanging at Guitar Center soon, I can say I knew where it originated! Congrats on build.

Sounds good with them dimarzios 😁
I might have missed a comment from the first show but is this an old Samick bass?

Looks like strings aren't aligned. Is that the nut or just the camera angle making them look off?

the nut is terrible which definitely adds to throwing your eye off.

Definitely that the pickups had to go up to align the strings… or the bridge should be moved down or a combination of both. I don’t think that moving the nut will close the gap that’s too far away you’ll have to move it quite a bit.
