SELF-ADMINISTERED EMDR BILATERAL MEDIATION

    I have decided to change the name of these videos to meditations, as they work as a self-administered meditation to bring you into the present moment. As you let any bothers or concerns arise, the EMDR therapy helps neutralize whatever stresses arise.
    **This is for personal entertainment purposes only. I as the creator, began making these videos for myself and they worked for just about anything and everything, so I decided to share them**
    EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) is designed to help process thoughts and feelings we may not be able to process during waking or dreaming, leaving unresolved feelings and thoughts to rise to the surface of our conscious awareness during any given moment.
    These sessions are designed to help neutralize, process, heal, and resolve unwanted thoughts or feelings.

I'll be launching schemahypnotherapy shortly to help people in narcissistic relationships. EMDR has its roots in Hypnosis ... but I personally prefer the systemic framework of Schema Therapy and EMDR together. Combining these with a few hypnotic techniques and lives change very quickly.

    This seems like the perfect pace - I use this in between sessions of ART with my therapist and it really seems to work.
    If anyone wants some tips on how to use this, this is what my therapist does:
    You're going to split your viewing into sessions of 30 seconds each. I'm going to be referring to my trauma as an image, but this will work if you only have feelings to work with. Eventually you will likely get some images that come to mind even if they don't seem to make sense to you or have much meaning. All that matters is that the emotion is tied to them.
    1) Think about the upsetting image. Just go over it and talk yourself through it while watching the ball for 30 seconds.
    Stop and verbalize what that image was and what it means to you. You need to verbalize it. This is important.
    2) Start with that image, and decide how you are going to change it. Some people view the ball as erasing it, some imagine how they would change the situation/image. The last one I did, I imagined Jesus picking me up and taking me out of the image before it was erased over with the ball. I created a new image with myself as a child because that felt like what I wanted to do.
    Stop and verbalize that part as well.
    If you need more time, go in for another 30 seconds, but only on the positive ones. Don't feel like you need to rush through. You can come back to the image in a few days and see what remains. You need to be gentle with yourself in order for healing to happen.
    Make sure you are watching on a screen big enough to get your eyes moving back and forth far enough. I find this isn't as good on my phone.
    Keep pressing on, you will be victorious.
    2 Corinthians 4:8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

    this works for me best if I verbally talk through certain memories as if someone else is listening. The plus side of doing this alone, is that I can better focus on the particular subject that's bringing up negative feelings without overexplaining too much unnecessary context (a bad habit for this scenario, but social norm)

As for me, I don't focus on one particular thing to start but after about 5 minutes things start coming up and I focus on those things. Getting through 20 minutes is no problem. It flies by. I believe it is helpiing and am surprised at the buried memories that come up. I'm only about a week into it so will continue daily and see how it goes.

    I had about 5 irl EMDR sessions and it really helped me. The doctor told me to think about what's bothering me and keep that thought in mind while visualizing the moving object. Some other thoughts (that'll first seem not related to the first issue) will pop up, keep thinking about this new topic cuz it may not look like but it is relevant to the main subject, keep doing that (new topic pops up, keep thinking about that topic) until the session is over

    • @Lia.56SN

      And when thinking about your issue first begin with negative affirmations you'd like your brain to rewire: like "I'm not good enough" "I am trapped in this situation" "I can't deal with this situation" "I'm guilty" etc. And notice in what part of your body you most feel the emotion that comes with those thoughts. I can guarantee you it will help.

    I never used EMDR visually but only acoustically. Works the same and is much easier to 'follow' - you just need to use a headset and a video where the sound is really partitioned to left and right. I would recommend closing the eyes while doing it this way. And for the skeptics out there: I did it this way from the beginning while I was in therapy.
    Now I still use it when there is a pesky feeling coming up. Just trust the process. I stop when I feel it is over. My therapist thought it might be dangerous to self administer EMDR - I don't see why. I am glad this approach was discovered in the early 1980s. My therapist helped me through the biggest mess with it and now I am a very good way to total healing. Healing is a process - be patient.

      Read other comments on this YT video, so many useful tips!
      Professional sessions are currently out of my price range.
      PLEASE NOTE I'm not trained, just experiment to see what works for me.
      My hometown had high crime rate, horrific stuff. Hard to pinpoint what to focus on.
      I've had great results falling asleep to this EMDR track playing low on my headphones.
      The first night, I had 2 intense dreams that became lucid. A lot of nasty past stuff came up. Blew my mind.
      On subsequent nights, sensations in my body woke me up, jolts of energy that released stress.
      In dreams, I confronted terrors which previously I ran from. This trend has stuck. Esp this year, hugely noticeable result.
      Perhaps this will encourage you to try. If you do, I'd love to hear how you get on.

Let your mind get rid of the thoughts that are repeating then at the end ask your self- what was the first thought I started with. That accesses a different part of your brain and completes the treatment. You’ll notice that thought doesn’t bother you as much when you say it this time.

    • @aidanchaney-drinard8168
      @aidanchaney-drinard8168 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      So, I'm currently studying at the master's level to become a therapist and I have done EMDR in my own personal therapy, I would say be very very careful with trying to do trauma work alone because a lot can come up that may last well beyond the time that you set aside for it. It can be a pretty turbulent experience to say the least. If you can do the 'heavy lifting' with a therapist and use this meditation for self-soothing I think that would be ideal (With the PsychologyToday find a therapist feature you can filter both by insurance and therapy type). This is NOT advised, but if you are adamant about processing anything alone and you absolutely don't have access to a therapist for whatever reason, please pick something relatively minor (ex. a fight with a coworker) and have a pre-determined support available (a friend you can call, a crisis line etc.) watch the ball while holding what you are currently upset about in your mind and observe some of the thoughts and emotions that come up, even whisper them or say them out loud and allow yourself to begin to monologue. Follow your stream of conscious, and when you are finished take some time to ground yourself. What I find is that the bilateral stimulation of watching the movement allows me to work through things more effectively, and generate more creative solutions than I might otherwise. *Please note that this is peer to peer advice as I am NOT yet a professional nor am I trained in EMDR. I wish you well :)

    Can doing this alone however be in any way "dangerous" forblacknof better words, if your not experienced, a professional or guided by someone who is familiar w the practice? I ask because in articles I have read about the therapy it always seems to make reference to (the therapist pulling the person out) of the session or the "trance" not the right word but you know where I am going...right? Like if things get triggered or memories do actually surface and it is not a pleasant one?

    • @christinealexandra1381
      @christinealexandra1381 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That depends. If bringing up your traumatic memories is dangerous for you, then yes. (It is for some) There is no altered state of mind to "come out of" though so you are safe there.
      I've left a comment with the steps a therapist uses to get the most out of this type of therapy. You have to work on positive reinforcement after therapy work no matter what you're doing or you definitely will be depressed. Who wants to focus on the terrible parts of your life only?

    • @JT-ty9qv
      @JT-ty9qv 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It can be no matter the memory or situation because this therapy takes you back there it is always good to have someone to ground you and just make sure you are safe. I think trance is the wrong word and sounds quite scary and it is not that. I think the easiest way to know whether you can participate in EMDR alone would be to think about how that memory affects you. If any of them take you to a place where you aren't quite in control then with a therapist until some ground work would be the best recommendation even if it has been 7 months. I do hope your journey has taken a positive turn.
