You made me willing to re-install Sacred 2 again, but I strongly recommend the last Community Patch (in Dark Matters site), which fix tons of bugs, and also adds the best improvements the community have been adding along these years. Also if you try Sacred 1, you should try it also with the ReBornHD mod, which adds the same quality of life and improvements like worthy enemies, more experience to level alone (which is needed in a game designed to level in groups online), etc.
Glad you're getting back to the game. I did play with the community patch, just no mods other than that. I agree that the patch completely fixes the game and makes it so much more enjoyable. I've heard great things about sacred 1 with reborn so I'm looking forward to that for sure.

Sacred Citadel and Sacred 3 are completely different games made by Ken, which had experience on mobile games, they never understood the "Diablo style". I doubt they want to compete against modern ARPGs like Path of Exile, Grim Dawn, Lost Ark, Last Epoch, No Rest for the Wicked, and many others. Even Diablo IV can't reach the popularity of many of these new ARPGs, seems old talent abandoned Blizzard too. :(
I'm playing through the original Sacred right now on a vampiress. It's a pretty quirky game. As an aside, I recently found by accident a pristine copy of Champions of Norrath: Return to Arms for my PS2 at the local retro games store. My Snowblind collection is almost complete.

This was my first big game, and I'm glad of it, it leaved the standards so high that now I can only play huge good games, and especially if they have a big modder community. For simple changes like re-name a character, or respec, there are external tools, usually used to cheat. Also, since Sacred 1 and 2 was tought to be played online, generally leeching XP in big groups like in Path of Exile or Diablo 2, today there is the ReBorn HD mod, which is a total overhaul to be playable in single player, with the XP, drop, and damage fixed to pass the entire game alone.

Another banger video! Damn I'm a die hard champions of norrath fan but I've never really played other games in the same genre besides Diablo. I have to say this one seems really cool to me though. I might pick it up on steam. Seems like such a hidden gem with the ng+ and the open world aspect. @@WoddahMaloneGaming i tired all the patches and it didn't work. but damn is this game beautiful on the main pc. it woks in UHD it works in UWS it works in surround all without effoert the physx is gorgeous. also it worked just like that on my touchscreen, fully playable. and i had to play it gf980 in mere 1920. worse than that i was lazy to re-arrange my screens from side pc so i in-steam streamed it from side pc to main pc screens with some arterfacting despite there being less than a metre of cable. if only someone to fix that it would be looking better than most modern games. physx was one of the best things ever made until nvidia killed it with greed
Man, i love your passionate and well-structured reviews. It's good to know that there are people out there who love the Sacred and Champions titles as much i do. I wonder what your opinion about "Grim Dawn" would be. It's one of the best Diablo clones / Hack & Slays / Action RPGs out there imho. It's from the developer team behind "Titan Quest" back in the day and shares the same engine + many mechanics with it, but is vastly improved in a lot of aspects. It's like a mix of Titan Quest mechanics + Diablo 2 + Warhammer Fantasy + H.P. Lovecraft cosmic horror. The only true spiritual successor to Diablo 2 in my book. So, it comes with attributes, a dual class system + a third, class-indipendent, overarching skill tree (devotions) for passive proc effects (one can combine with regular skills) and sooooo much loot, some of it coming with additional skills on it aswell. The amount of possibilities when it comes to build-variety is simply astonishing. It even allows for a MMO-like "holy trinity" when playing in co-op. So, you can have a tank, taking all the aggro, a supporter, raising stats, armor, elemental defenses etc. and probably healing a whole bunch and damage dealers / glass cannons doing the big hurt. It has a big crafting system (you find blueprints, especially dropped by bosses. When you play for long enough you can even craft whole legendary sets if you have the ressources for it etc..). It has 2 awesome Add-Ons aswell, bringing even more quality of life stuff, items, new enemy types etc. (The first Add-On brings transmog for example. So, skins of everything you find will get saved at your skin-npc automatically. And you can add said skins for a little fee on that npc as often as you have the currecy for it to make your character look the way you want. And yes, you can play men and women (!)) But be warned. When the game "clicks" for you, it will probably eat your lifetime like no other Hack&Slay game before.. :D
I live meeting new people that live these types of games as well. Grim dawn is actually on my list of games to play/review! I've got a couple others before it but im super looking forward to playing and streaming it!
Great review, great game. Just wanted to chime in that by using the Community Patch and the Enhanced Edition mods I was able to get the game to run perfectly on windows 11 at fullscreen 2560x1440. Not a bad feat considering it's age.
I will for sure get back to more ff list but unfortunately my ff videos don't get really any traction so will do more once I'm partnered. Hopefully in a few weeks!

why would you need to start over if you outlevel the world on silver before you get to the gate and you have a ton of runes just to level another skill
If you don't understand hoe the runes work you can drastically increase your cooldowns to where some skills are unusable. Some it doesn't matter but especially when you get into the higher difficulties you can't have a bricked character.
@@WoddahMaloneGaming you can pivot there's no hard level cap or extremely bad parabolic scaling like in other games maybe it won't be a minmax character but still there's more chance to survive than diablo 2

No Grim Dawn mention? It's my personal favorite ARPG. Lots of build variety a requires an eye for detail in making a build work. I have a nearly maxed out char where I am still using a lv 30 weapon that makes mobs explode because it is so perfectly dialed in to my build. Get into it and it will blow your mind. I also loved Sacred 2, but Sacred 3 was modled after Sacred Citadel instead of advancing 2's formula. Citadel was a decent Beat'em Up Brawler RPG, but Sacred 3 should have carried the series to new heights and instead was a steamy pile of dog shitaco.
I have problem with Sacred 2. First is that of course i don't know how to create a good build xd and second i like too much the first one- first one is for me a legend that made my childhood and playing in sacred 2 is just weird. I have exacly the same filing the worst best game i played i love it but the shadow of orginal is always up on me.
This is a type of game that we call Eurojank, which are low budget games made by small european studios that have a lot of creative ideas and ambitions but not the budget, or skill, to make them into polished experiences. Eurojank games are either love or hate experiences, they either really click with you because the unique and creative ideas are so good that the lack of polish doesn't matter, or you'll just despise them because they're too janky to be bearable. Some of the most notorious examples are the Gothic games, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, the first Witcher, Mount & Blade, Risen, Two Worlds, the Divinity franchise until Original Sin.
@@MrDoggson as I said in my definition, these are the types of games that you're either really feeling or despise. I don't like Two World but some people are actually feeling it.
i love most of those games :) add populous the beginning, knights and merchants and the cultures series to that list of amazing but a bit janky games made by european studios
I don't know if you've ever played Grim Dawn but if you haven't I highly recommend it. There are 8 classes to choose from and with the dual class system there are 56 different combinations you can play as or you can choose to play a pure class giving you 64 different ways to play the game which makes for a ton of replay value. I also love the way they let you respec because you don't have to spend a massive amount to completely respec if you only want to make minor changes. Instead you can remove individual points from certain skills and move them to another skill for a minimal amount of gold. The only thing is that you can't change your secondary class after you choose one. There are also no mounts like in Sacred 2 but there are builds that will make your movement speed so fast that you won't need a mount. It's not a perfect game but I've really enjoyed it over other PC games like Diablo and Torchlight.
I havent yet played it but I do have it in my steam library. I've been recommended it quite a but and am looking forward to playing it. Will possibly stream it in the near future.

Haha, it's only on hard-core mode. Normal mode you can die as much as you want and there's no real penalty.

Put in a 100+ hours on PS3 for this game. First apartment with my wife and we didn't have internet. This is what we played, great couch co-op.
It's an all time fave and still holds up

I think mine was about 2 hours on average. Pretty good but annoying if it didn't save progress sometimes.
