He’s a player that needs confidence just like Havertz and Morata. Unfortunately those type of players can be very frustrating. He would be at his best as a second striker besides a guy that guarantees goals and takes pressure of his shoulders
Bad comparison. Havertz and Morota are false 9s they create space for wingers like Firmino use to for Mo and Mane. They do not have pressure to score many goals on the other hand Nunez does. He has been brought in specifically for that reason to score many goals. I do agree that he seems like a player who needs confidence and a run but the truth is he doesn't suit Liverpool. Remember Origi? Solanke? These solo traditional strikers do not work in this Liverpool system which is made for wingers to score goals. Why do you think Diaz is shining upfront this season in Nunez position because he is a dynamic forward Nunez is not.
@@thisisarmando8393 Origi has done better at Liverpool than he has ever done anywhere else. Solanke simply wasn't good enough at the time and needed to play consistently for several seasons to get to a level where he's OK for a team that's far below us in Spurs, we couldn't give him those minutes because we were competing for things. The fact Nunez is getting high quality chances is proof that the way Slot plays is perfectly fine for a #9. Missing them can not be tactical.
@paulie-g Origi done very well for the minutes he was getting mostly as a sub or when Firmino was injured yet Origi fell far below his expection when first signed. Done very well with crucial goals towards the end of his Liverpool spell but that's about it. It was clear he too was struggling in this Liverpool set up. You are correct that Nunez gets chances but have you noticed he scores when not under pressure? This is because of the set up. Having Mo and Diaz/Gakpo who all want to score puts him under pressure as they all occupy his space. He is a traditional striker he enjoys being a lone striker or with a partner as you can see he likes to run a lot, he needs space. Like I said he does not suit this Liverpool set up, a traditional striker will not work in this Liverpool set up, you need a technical payer who can both provide and score in that position hence why Diaz is thriving also Jota does well.
As a Liverpool fan, I'm rooting so hard for him to be successful, not only for the club but for him as a professional. Since Torres and Suarez, Liverpool hasn't had a clinical striker (And thanks to the unstoppable force of Mane, Firmi and specially Salah, we didn't need one), but since he joined Liverpool I was hopeful he would become someone in the likes of those two. It's a shame is not working out.
As long as Darwin Nunez plays for Liverpool he has my backing and once he leaves he will still have my backing. I just love the man , gives his all for club and country everytime. Darwin Nunez YNWA❤
Exactly! I can't hate him, he's the only player where I cheer just as loud for him when he misses as when he scores. There's a special player in him, we just need to keep backing him, YNWA ❤
I'll always love this guy because he makes football so much fun to watch and he genuinely cares about liverpool. But he clearly isn't a Slot type player and he's not refined enough over the last 3 years
Exactly. Klopp turned Auba, Lewandowski, Reus, Mane, Salah, Jota etc. into goal scoring machines but even he couldn't get Darwin to become a composed and clinical finisher over 2 years.
Im Colombian so its love for Lucho first but I can’t help myself to love Darwin as well, I want them both to succeed since they work so hard for it and represent our South American grit perfectly. They deserve to be where they are
I think one thing i have noticed is that he is that type of player when he's really in his zone, he is such a menace that even without scoring he breaks the opposition apart with his runs and craziness and others score because the defenders are having a hard time with darwin. But then there are times he just goes quiet maybe due to low confidence. Perhaps slot needs to utilise him as a super sub for now where his job is 30-40 mins of complete chaos
As a liverpool fan I love him as he plays with his heart on his sleeve, i just wonder what it is that causes him to mess up so often. There are times you watch him where he can pull a rabit out of a hat and the next he'll miss a sitter. I akways want him to score but unfortunatly you can only get away with that for so long.
Same here, I really love him but it seemed that he wouldn't make it big whilst playing for us. We need an archetypal number 9 who converts chances on a dime; too bad Nunez ain't the one.
Darwin is currently the top scorer in the south american WC qualifiers. I don’t have the technical knowledge but I’m sure comparing the style of play of the national team to the liverpool style could shine some light on the situation
This would be useful if Darwin wasn't getting chances to score with Liverpool. He is, lots of them, he just misses them. Would he get a higher volume of chances if he was the main man and the whole team played for him? Yes, but he's not good enough to do that for at any club aiming to win league and CL. He needs to improve. Liverpool are giving him chances no other top club would, and Liverpool supporters are giving him their full backing as well whereas at other clubs he'd be whistled, waved handkerchiefs at and ostracized. We're all pulling for him, but he needs to improve and start delivering. Another way to look at it: if Liverpool had the sort of playstyle that is geared towards a single #9 shooting and scoring most, Darwin would be gone already. His erratic performances can be borderline tolerated because he's one of 5-6 forwards in a front 3 system.
He has a better g/a record than David Johnson, cost less relatively, & has a better injury record. Now go Google who Johnson was & what he achieved with Liverpool, cos I suspect you will have to lol. There is a LOT more to being an effective forward than just scoring goals; old time managers like Paisley & Clough were well aware of that. Nunez is part of the most successful Liverpool team in decades, how about just letting him keep doing whatever he's doing, eh?
@@JoeyMills-y3v Well, we haven't won much while he's been at the club. We are all pulling for him to succeed, but he needs to improve. Johnson was not signed not to score. His record is roughly 1 in 3, which is very respectable, especially given a lot of those were sub appearances. His record was better than that for the two? seasons he started regularly. And most noteworthy, the player who replaced him was.. Ian Rush. The only thing Darwin has over Jota is availability. Look, we all like him, but this is his third year, we're going to need to make a decision soon on whether to sell or extend. I suggest you look at our wage bill, it's precariously close to UEFA's 70% of revenue limit, do we really want him taking up wage space at this level of performance? He's not going to take a cut on the extension, so Edwards/Hughes + Slot are going to have to make a decision and I don't think their data models include 'likability'. I sincerely hope Darwin can kick on and prove his worth before it's too late.

I think he is a Player that needs Space to properly Function and utilize his Chaotic Style of Play, under Klopp and now under Slot, he doesn't have the Tactical Nous to play on the Left and he doesn't have the Calmness to be Effective as a Number 9. I feel like he needs to totally reinvent himself, especially his understanding of the Game and that means learning to Calm Down and not rely on Overly Emotionally Tense Moments to be Effective. He has the tools to be very Effective as a Striker/Forward, but honestly, its all in his hands, if he badly wants to improve, he would...
I personally feel like Darwin needs to play in a hectic system in order to flourish. Maybe the European style of play doesnt suit him. The more he has to think, the worse he is.
I thought he'd be our old Torres, but he simply ain't consistent enough with the amount of chances we create for him and hasn't got the dribbling like that of a Torres
Collecter of great misses yeah thats our boy darwizy. I am rooting for him to be successful for us. I love his passion, the energy he brings. I really hope we will see the best of darwin soon.
We're going to have to see it soon, because we're getting to the point where we either extend or sell and likability is unlikely to feature in Will Spearman's data models. I just checked and it looks like he got a 6 year deal so in theory he has another season to try, but..
I have a theory- that top goal-scorers are very even keel and not very emotional this is a natural personality trait you just have or you dont and this lack of heightened emotional helps in front if goal
As a Liverpool fan, I love Darwin. There’s something about him that I just love to watch. So much energy and he gives 100% on the pitch when he’s on. Missing some chances is frustrating but there’s something about him that I can’t help but love
On an unrelated note, Nunez Hardwork , commitment and Pute passion for the club is part of the reason Fans still root for him, but fans despise guys hate Marcus Rashford.

He's a great lad and he puts in so much effort, but we can't have him as a starting player. If we can afford to have him on the books whilst being an impact sub and a sometime starter then I'd be happy with that. I mean, he always has that potential to reach another level or 2. He's gone backwards under Slot, but the season is only half over.
That's the problem, we're not seeing progress for the minutes we invest in him and he doesn't make the impact you hope for from a sub a la Origi. We're close to the 70% of revenue UEFA FFP wage limit, he's on 140k pw, and we will soon have to make a decision on either extending or selling. Besides us all liking him and feeling like there's a chance that if we let him go, it'll all click somewhere else and we'll be sorry, are you seeing anything that says a sporting director can responsibly give him a 5 year contract?
I'm a Liverpool supporter and the cold harsh reality is that in his 3rd season, he's actually regressed. He doesn't really cause as much "chaos" anymore or create massive chances for Salah. Maybe it's the new system put in place by Slot that emphasizes control over Klopp's. Take a look at his most recent start vs Southampton. Scores a 1v1 after the defender and keeper both made mistakes. Messed up two counters by not releasing the ball to Gakpo at the right time. Completely ignored wide open Chiesa/Elliott on the right wing to take a low percentage shot from outside the box that was predictably, blocked by a defender's shinpads. He will be an energy sub that causes defenders to panic and can influence games there (like winning the pen vs City), but I doubt he'll ever figure out the decision making and clinical finishing that unlocks his full potential. We all love watching him, but I think he'll be sold next summer.
Guy always gives his 100% out there. I want him to be good so badly, but man.....this is his 3rd season with the club, and he still hasn't gotten it figured out yet. I just dont know if I ever see him doing so at this point. Especially with how good Jota can be when hes not hurt.
it was simply an unusually bad signing by liverpool, buying a STRIKER with such bad finishing at such price was a stupid desperate move, this is all the result of the owner being unwilling to spend enough
I personally am at the point where I really want us and Darwin to go our separate ways, he is extremely likable but he is not consistent enough and misses too many chances to be a top striker for Liverpool. It’s just a signing that doesn’t fit for both the club and the player imo
In all honesty under slot when nunez plays they don't really create for him. He's finishing is bad but I feel he doesn't get enough chances compared to like haaland
He's getting sold in the summer & liverpool are running a PR campaign to discredit him before then, cos they know the fans love him & he's a good player. Pretty scummy behaviour tbh.
He's a completely different player off the ball compared to year one at Liverpool as well. I've never wanted a player to come good more than Darwin - there's a video of him tracking back against Leeds in his first year at Liverpool that I'll never forget, he's just flying past everyone the entire length of the pitch and then dives to try to block the ball at the edge of the box.
The fact he's entertaining in a sense where you don't know if he's gonna score a worldie or make the stupidest decision out there is not what you look for in a Liverpool level striker. Too short in ability and decision making. Time to let it go and accept. A complete striker can be the difference between silverware or not for liverpool this season
You just know in your heart Darwin will somehow find a was to miss when he's clean through on goal, his ability to pick the wrong pass and try to execute the worst finish is pretty tragic. All he can do is run fast because he's got a pea-sized footballing brain, Liverpool would be unstoppable with a real striker like Isak.
I love Darwin but for all the times I was frustrated when he misses I'm now ready to see him leave. I hoped he would be at least our new origi. A cult hero with absolutely crucial goals but unfortunately he didn't reach that and we hadn't had such run since his arrival.
Low IQ and has never trained on finishing, since the day he got critizism that his finishing is terrible. For me, he is Rashford. Not smart, not productive and he cannot be sold for 25% of his value. Noone will pay for it. He should be moved to be make a midfielder. There he can use his technique and speed. Think about it. Attackers are finishers. Compare him with Romario. Romario didnt shoot. Romario finished. Romario was smart. Goals matter, screamers don't.
Man's a flop. Let's not lie. We know he'll never be reliable in front of goal. We just know it. That's why liverpool fans were so relieved when jota was back. As for his attitude. He seems to be a fighter. That's why he's given a bit more latitude than others. But he belongs in a mid table team or benfica
You can’t hate the guy man,,, he tries so hard but when we lose or draw and he misses a bunch of chances it is incredibly frustrating but Darwizzy is a goat 🐐 nonetheless
The fact that he hasn't kicked on is disappointing. At this point I can't see it happening. Liverpool will need someone more clinical, especially with Salah approaching the end of his career.
i honestly as mush as i love him, i’ve lost hope in him. when ever he’s 1v1 i don’t even get exited, i just expect a miss. Or when he’s shooting i know it’s just a lost ball. I love him and i’ll support him, but i want him gone by next season
He's shit that's it. One of the worst strikers I've had the displeasure of watching at Liverpool. And I have seen Lambert, Borini and Balotelli failing to play football at the club as well. He's better than them tbh but marginally 😂

He has the tools to be very Effective as a Striker/Forward, but honestly, its all in his hands, if he badly wants to improve, he would...
I hope Darwin will be remembered as a legend of the club
I'm rooting for him 🙌🏻 YNWA
I personally feel like Darwin needs to play in a hectic system in order to flourish. Maybe the European style of play doesnt suit him. The more he has to think, the worse he is.
Ironically, he'd probably be great somewhere like Iraola's Bournemouth.
@paulie-g actually I think we should sell him to Atletico Madrid, then bring in Johnathan David in on a free
@@chriskohh And Atleti would buy him.. why?
@@paulie-g Griezman is gone after this season, Correa could be as well. Simeone likes South Americans
@@chriskohh atletico has both alvarez and Sorloth, they are not starving for a striker
If memory serves me, Darwin had come in and saved us from defeat to Newcastle. Scored two goals when we really needed it.
I see myself as the YMCA adult co-Ed league Darwin Nuñez for sure 😂
As much as he frustrates me at times I just love him... he's that guy fr... ❤
Plays with everything in his might. 😭❤️🔥🔥🔥
I have a theory- that top goal-scorers are very even keel and not very emotional this is a natural personality trait you just have or you dont and this lack of heightened emotional helps in front if goal
hope he makes it here at liverpool or elsewhere. still one of my favourite players
We will always remember that game against Newcastle.
Its down to the hair style. Hair loose - scores goals.
Ties hair up in that pony tail samurai thing he has , and the goals dry up.
Happy Holidays for you and your family! 💙💙
A very fair assessment. He works hard and never shies away, but it is not equalling goals
It doesn't need to equal goals tho 😂

He has the tools to be very Effective as a Striker/Forward, but honestly, its all in his hands, if he badly wants to improve, he would..i understand the need to be Supportive of Players but Football is the Wild West, a Player needs to go out of their Way to make their own Luck...Even the Greatest Players have gone through tough Spells even Seasons, but they ultimately bounce back and do so in Style...
He’s a good mascot. Maybe not worth 80mil but worth something large
Darwin 3 goals in last 30 games.
Marc Guiu 5 goals in 2 games. 1 hat trick.
So the conclusion is, he’s just a chill guy who loves football. Hmm.
Time to do a video update on sporting. João Pereira fired after 4 weeks of taking over. 100% club 100% finished.
The description is wrong btw, just letting you know
Thank you!
He works his arse off everytime he plays. Maybe one more year to see if he can be consistent.
“No penguins, no animals?!”
Make him a CM or RB and he'll go crazy
Didn´t Dominic Solanke go through a wee bit similar road? He´s quite fine now.
Nunez need to go to The EFL Championship 😂 !
He's an Edinson Cavani regen
Idk how to explain it but to me he's always felt more like a LaLiga player
Darwizzy
Nunez Nunez Nunez ⛳
I think he would suit a CAM? Szoboszlai though
it was simply an unusually bad signing by liverpool, buying a STRIKER with such bad finishing at such price was a stupid desperate move, this is all the result of the owner being unwilling to spend enough
Drives me crazy watching him play each week want him to do well. Be just are luck we sell him and he turns into a 30 goals a season beast

Its just confidence
Nunez, Nunez, Nunez. YNWA.
I am telling you guys; he just needs a good haircut to get a new perspective and confidence.
Expensive Andy Carroll.
Your so great , well done.
Andy Carroll was expensive Andy Carroll...
Love Darwin
Can he play midfield?
He needs to leave LFC and start fresh in La Liga or Serie A it would suit him better in style and culture
Darwin is a pressing striker, not a finisher
Didn't think you were canadian
Perfect striker for Atletico
85 of the queens finest to cause “chaos”. Love the guy but we’re in season 3, enough of this “chaos” nonsense
He's just a chill guy
🎉
Not sure what that says about him but he has never learned English much
The fact he's entertaining in a sense where you don't know if he's gonna score a worldie or make the stupidest decision out there is not what you look for in a Liverpool level striker.
Erh, Isak is good if he can stay healthy throughout the season. I've had enough of quality players resting on the hospital bed.
Bro is average
You can’t hate the guy man,,, he tries so hard but when we lose or draw and he misses a bunch of chances it is incredibly frustrating but Darwizzy is a goat 🐐 nonetheless
The fact that he hasn't kicked on is disappointing. At this point I can't see it happening. Liverpool will need someone more clinical, especially with Salah approaching the end of his career.
Darwin is lucky that he is in a position and part of a good team. He isn't bothered and neither are the real Red fans...
i honestly as mush as i love him, i’ve lost hope in him. when ever he’s 1v1 i don’t even get exited, i just expect a miss. Or when he’s shooting i know it’s just a lost ball. I love him and i’ll support him, but i want him gone by next season
Darwin and LFC are just not meant for eachother thats all
first
Bad, really bad - thats it.
Darwin Nunez will forever remain a flop!
He's shit that's it. One of the worst strikers I've had the displeasure of watching at Liverpool. And I have seen Lambert, Borini and Balotelli failing to play football at the club as well. He's better than them tbh but marginally 😂
