Been working my way through this list for the past two weeks, wow what a masterclass on all fronts. Your writing was so funny and thoughtful and insightful throughout, had no idea which games you hadn’t played, and your music and editing were always on point. Can’t imagine the amount work this project must of taken, and very excited to see what’s up your sleeve next! The world needs more people being unabashedly themselves, ideally uploading it as 4.5 hour TH-cam videos
It’s gonna take me about a dozen poop breaks to get through this so I want to congratulate you on finishing this before I go into blinding rage from game placement
I havent played a LOT of these games, but the games ive deeply enjoyed have made this list, and for that I thank you. for this list being your own opinion, im very satisfied by the placement and mention of these games. I'm personally perplexed by the complete lack of RTS games (or _any_ strategy games) or sim / management games. This is an incredible video! Please keep shouting it out in your other videos as I’m kinda pissed I needed to find out via you rather than my algorithm. This shit is right up my alley
Great video, thx for the huge amount of effort u put into this for us! (I am concentrating every ounce of my body to not cry about the actual top 100 ranking)
I honestly would love a followup examining the data from this. Who is the most common publisher? Which decade had the most games? What genre had the most games? It would be really interesting to watch
Your ability to write a script that flows so well game to game is honest chef's kiss. Awesome work here, would love to see a video of your top 100 if you haven't already made one
Even if there are some personal favorites not hear (Notably Ori and the Will of the Wisps) and some games I didn't personally like on there, considering the goal of this list I think this was the most respectable list that could have possibly come out the other end.
2:32 Fudj has truly become the absurd man. He does what he does not for its permanence but for the saje of recognizing the absurd. He seeks a quantity of experiences which bring quality to his life and not the other way around. Video essay TH-cam is his boulder: one must imagine Fudj happy. Albert Camus would be proud. Me personally, I can't wait to keep watching
This video was such a great blend of humor and genuine opinion pieces, which is a quality of your stuff I've always adored :) probably one of your best works to date (and I don't say that just because number 1 is in like my top 3 favorite games of all time, although I love you platonically for it Brad)
Call of Duty combined with Halo may be too powerful of a game for the world to handle. It could sink cities and destroy relationships. It could doom us all. Best not to listen to that kid...
Okay, I know I made my memey philosophy-ish comment when I was just starting the video, but I do wanna appreciate the video in its entirety. Besides, it probably boosts engagement, so, a win's a win? Usually a top 100 list would seem uninteresting to me but the start of his video absolutely hooked me. It's my favorite part of the video. Specifically the "You're wrong and I'm wrong" moment was really engaging. I find myself appreciating this video a lot (even if for example I think Persona 3 Reload is just slightly better than Persona 5). I like that the list isn't supposed to be definitive, and that even if not definitive it's still *worth making*. I just think it's neat! And props to Fudj for the Herculean effort. I did want to also comment on the number 1 placement. I find the argument that "Resident Evil 4 is close to perfection" argument to be fascinating. For the record, I haven't played the game - but if I tried to apply that standard to decide my number 1, it'd probably be Hollow Knight. Although there's a fundamental difference in how we approach this. I agree that not giving anything a 10/10 because "it's not perfect" is counter-productive, but I don't think a "near perfect game" is necessarily what I personally prefer for a 10/10. For me, a game is a 10/10 if it compensates for its imperfections, if after playing, you can remember the imperfections but everything else still makes you want to give the game a 10 regardless. For me, this is Hollow Knight. I will forever hate Radiant Markoth, but I beat it all the same, and the rest of the game entirely makes up for design flaws like his fight. So, it's really curious to me how we can approach "perfection" and "10/10s" differently. Also, even if I haven't played Resident Evil 4, I prefer the remake because, as someone who is from Spain, I was really annoyed when I found out that the VAs in the original aren't even from Spain. I'm very glad they fixed it in the Remake, it sounds soooo much better for a setting in Spain. I feel a lot more "represented" (weird context to say it in, I know). Felt worth mentioning given that you point out the setting as unique. Overall, great video! In the end, my more memy philosophy-ish comment wasn't entirely ironic - this really fits the archetype of the absurd man in the best ways, cheers
Amazing video enjoyed every bit of it; easily couldve watched it all in one sitting if i didnt actively stop myself and watch in 4 sessions or so. Here's to more swapping palettes!!
Good list. We have the same number 1. It's hard to rank 100 games, so here's my personal top 50 video games of all time: 1. Resident Evil 4 (2005) 2. Super Metroid 3. Super Mario Bros 3 4. Breath of the Wild 5. Ninja Gaiden Black 6. Metal Gear Solid 3 7. Chrono Trigger 8. Metroid Prime 9. Devil May Cry 3 10. Street Fighter 2 (Arcade) 11. A Link to the Past 12. Mario Galaxy 2 13. Rondo of Blood 14. Resident Evil 1 Remake 15. Final Fantasy VI 16. Half Life 2 17. Deus Ex 18. Doom (1993) 19. Skyrim 20. Tekken Tag Tournament 21. Final Fantasy X 22. Resident Evil 2 (1998) 23. Silent Hill 2 24. GTA Vice City 25. Arkham Asylum 26. Ocarina of Time 27. Super Mario World 28. Donkey Kong Country 2 29. Yoshi's Island 30. Super Mario 64 31. Bayonetta 32. God Hand 33. Devil May Cry 1 34. The Wonderful 101 35. Mega Man X 36. Super Castlevania IV 37. Metal Gear Solid 38. Final Fantasy VII (1997) 39. Kingdom Hearts 40. Halo CE 41. Dark Souls 42. Red Dead Redemption 43. Yakuza 0 44. Xenogears 45. Shadow of the Colossus 46. The Witcher 3 47. Call of Duty 4 48. Battle Garegga 49. Time Crisis 2 (Arcade) 50. Shenmue
Oh shit I think you're right hahaha, it was originally MvC3 on the list and then I changed it at the last minute bc everyone told me ppl preferred MvC2! -Fudj
You talked about this big thing that scared you for so long I was just thinking "please dear god don't be a puppet, I do not want to witness Fudj's puppeteer arc" so glad it was this instead
I was surprised at how engaged I was with this 4.5 hour list. I can understand a lot of these choices even if I haven't played half of the games listed
Now that I have finished this video I have some closing thoughts before I teleport to your location. This was really well done man. Seriously this video was a delight to sit through. This may very well be the most acceptable top 100 list of games ever made. Your commentary (and the commentary from the rest of the team) was great throughout the whole video. Bravo. Anyway, Terraria isn't on this list and you know the consequences. (Edit: Did youtube delete my original comment? Gosh you can't even joke about threats anymore)
I personally prefer the Touhou project, but I get it- Kirby was my bread and butter for a few years between Planet Robobot and Forgotten Land's release.
Brilliant list, thanks for making it. I'll be trying to check off as many of these as possible, even though I'm appalled at every game that was and was not on the list.
"#1........... Resident Evil 4" I may not quite agree, but I respect the hell out of that pick. Playing it for the first time on GC was an unforgettable experience. And yeah, the regenerators added so much to change up the late game dynamics. There are very few times I've ever had as much fun playing, well, anything.
The Super Mario Bros 3 brought back some nostalgia. I must’ve been about 10yrs old and my dad took me to see The Wizard at Star Theaters. I’m not sure if it’s true, but it’s the way I remember it, this is where they announced SMB3 as a major reveal in the movie. I recently showed the movie to my boys and it still holds up. It’s a great movie to show how important Nintendo felt back then.
Chrono Trigger didn't make #1 so your list is wrong. Sorry not sorry. Jokes aside nearly all of my personal fav games made the list and I can't wait to be listening to this in the background and adding games I have never played from this list to my backlog. Quality content 👍
The clown taking over the world joke sent me 😂😂 that was so subtly laid in there that I had to rewind it and cracked up over and over again. This video has been incredible!
there is no way I will ever agree to ranking 3 and 1. After this game I started to hate quick time events. But like for all game the argumentation was pretty good. god job on that
Umineko no Naku Koro Ni, as a visual novel with (essentially) no choices, may or may not count as a game, but almost anyone who's read it will agree that it makes the all time top 100 of whatever category you put it in.
its crazy you made this one video because we both know that making this 10 videos would've been so much better for the videos to sleep to crowd (thats me)
Top 10 predictions (in no particular order): Mario 64, Sonic Adventure 2, FFVII, Ocarina of Time, Breath of the Wild, Mega Man X, Minecraft, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Space Invaders and... hmm I'm gonna throw in a pick *I* want to see and say Pizza Tower. Edit: Well I got some but I definitely see my own type of bias in comparison now lol. Also you are a coward for not putting Pizza Tower in the list
It's interesting you say New Vegas has the best dialogue writing in a video game. I used to think that, but Planescape Torment has taken that spot for me. You can feel the rush to make dialogue in New Vegas half as thorough and entertaining and complex as Planescape's. And while I put New Vegas in my top 5 favorite games ever above Planescape Torment, it really is an incredibly written game that every rpg enjoyer should experience.
You know I actually really appreciate that someone finally had the guts to say that Super Mario Galaxy 2 is better than Odyssey. Galaxy 1 & 2 will always be my favorite games of all time. 1 because I grew up with it and 2 because I think it perfected platforming Edit: also mad respect to you for making this list I don't think I'd have it in me to do this
Haven't watched it all yet, but if slay the spire is not here it will be wack. That game was so good that a large part of the indie space has been deck builder rouge likes for years. edit: wack.

An incredible top 100. I loved it. Fudj has such a unique take and style. Thanks for the premium content.
Wii Sports Resort but not OG Wii Sports is an unfathomably based pick. Too low tho, deserves the #1 spot if we're being objective
"No Metroid Fusion."
HOW DARE YOU?!
"2 per franchise rule."
Understandable, have a nice day.
2 Franchises rule is kind of nonsense tbh. Sometimes a game series just has that many hits. They had 4 Fromsoft games and 3 Zelda games anyway lol

Ms. Pacman f'd up by not being called Pac Ma'am.
Would’ve been very cool if you had included some bullet hell shmups like DoDonPachi, Ketsui, Ikaruga, Radiant Silvergun, Mushihimesama and ZeroRanger. These games have some of the tallest skill ceilings I have ever seen. Highly recommend the channel The Electric Underground if you want to learn more about shmups and arcade game design.
I'm personally perplexed by the complete lack of RTS games (or _any_ strategy games) or sim / management games. Heck, _Minecraft_ is the closest the list comes to MMOs (aside from a brief mention of _FFXIV)._ Aside from _Tetris,_ I think all the games were first-person? Is that right? Was that intentional?
Yeah, I was honestly a bit shocked not to see a single Bullet Hell Shmup on the list.

I'm trying to think of a single way you could even compare those two

This was really well done man. Seriously this video was a delight to sit through. This may very well be the most acceptable top 100 list of games ever made. Your commentary (and the commentary from the rest of the team) was great throughout the whole video. Bravo.
Anyway, Terraria isn't on this list and you know the consequences.
(Edit: Did youtube delete my original comment? Gosh you can't even joke about threats anymore)
Personally…
Kirby, best games, best franchise, best lore, best memes, best characters, best wholesome and best everything else.
I personally prefer the Touhou project, but I get it- Kirby was my bread and butter for a few years between Planet Robobot and Forgotten Land's release.
Absolutely perfect Top 5. Loved listening to your thoughts on them as well.
Brilliant list, thanks for making it. I'll be trying to check off as many of these as possible, even though I'm appalled at every game that was and was not on the list.
Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.
it's the legend himself
"#1........... Resident Evil 4"
I may not quite agree, but I respect the hell out of that pick.
Playing it for the first time on GC was an unforgettable experience. And yeah, the regenerators added so much to change up the late game dynamics. There are very few times I've ever had as much fun playing, well, anything.
Re4 original
great script- underrated channel!
This dude born funny I swear
🤣🤣 Kevin is one of my best friends and his sections are the best!
Pretend this is a vile death threat I cant bring myself to say one to you my love
I have played very few games, but now that i know Ive played (and finished) number one, I can finally call myself an epic gamer.
Chrono Trigger didn't make #1 so your list is wrong. Sorry not sorry. Jokes aside nearly all of my personal fav games made the list and I can't wait to be listening to this in the background and adding games I have never played from this list to my backlog. Quality content 👍
Another Essex boy!
Seriously brilliant video. Will give it many more hours of my life in the future.
The clown taking over the world joke sent me 😂😂 that was so subtly laid in there that I had to rewind it and cracked up over and over again. This video has been incredible!
Deserves a million views. Great vid
My Top 2 were the top 2 here, so in my unbiased opinion, a 10/10 video
there is no way I will ever agree to ranking 3 and 1. After this game I started to hate quick time events. But like for all game the argumentation was pretty good. god job on that
Just started the video, as long as outer wilds is on it I will not send death threats
The biggest reveal of this video is that Brad has a fucking sick murkrow tattoo wtf.
Also murkrow is in my top 3, I know, shocking.
Seeing my personal favourite game ever at number 3 on this list makes me very happy and brought forth a lot of satisfaction in me!
Slowly working through this one and it's really damn good
Where do I find the written list or do I have to do it myself 😩
I love how the vague nature of the soulsborne series let 4 of them be in the list. Definitely seems fair, though.
Please add timestamps for all games listed
Umineko no Naku Koro Ni, as a visual novel with (essentially) no choices, may or may not count as a game, but almost anyone who's read it will agree that it makes the all time top 100 of whatever category you put it in.
its crazy you made this one video because we both know that making this 10 videos would've been so much better for the videos to sleep to crowd (thats me)
yelled "LET"S GOOO" so loudly when SMB2 was included in the top 100 tysm
Top 10 predictions (in no particular order): Mario 64, Sonic Adventure 2, FFVII, Ocarina of Time, Breath of the Wild, Mega Man X, Minecraft, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Space Invaders and... hmm I'm gonna throw in a pick *I* want to see and say Pizza Tower.
Edit: Well I got some but I definitely see my own type of bias in comparison now lol. Also you are a coward for not putting Pizza Tower in the list
I'm at 83 and the fact I didn't see pathologic on the games that won't appear list I'm still holding out hope for it to show up.
a little disappointed it wasn't here tbh but I hope mr fudj plays pathologic 2
great video btw
I'm addicted to top 100 game videos, see how many I've got or should get 👍
My biggest surprise was seeing my favorite rollercoaster at the very end of this video
"See what the world has for you - and what you have for the world."
Damn.
Wondefully enjoyed this multihour dissection of video game history. Possibly Fudjs best
As someone who tried to play outer wilds and felt too stupid for it that entry really spoke to me
It's interesting you say New Vegas has the best dialogue writing in a video game.
1 because I grew up with it and 2 because I think it perfected platforming
Edit: also mad respect to you for making this list I don't think I'd have it in me to do this
Skip to 1:43:00 for a treat
Spider Man 2 in the top 100?
What????
At the halfway point. Video's great! No i cannot tell which games youve axtually played for sure
Glad Angry Birds x Rio managed its way into the top 10, was really gunning for that one.
intros wayyyyy too long
video is way too long
I was born on the same day that Banjo Kazooie released in North America.
Honestly a pretty solid list
No Mario Kart (8 Deluxe) is crazy tho
It's essentially THE game you can play with everyone
Yokai Watch mention would've been hype too ngl
Monkey Ball 2 knew the assignment
If there is no Etrian Odyssey in here I will eat a shoe. Edit: 12 MINUTE INTRO...nah bro
Fudj you're a great youtuber, and I hope the youtube bots find this video and show it to everyone
Haven't watched it all yet, but if slay the spire is not here it will be wack. That game was so good that a large part of the indie space has been deck builder rouge likes for years.
edit: wack.
This video is big. How big? Well, I couldn't-
