David Morse in “John Adams” gives him a run for his money. Nonetheless, Kahn did a solid job.

I like how they finally portrayed Washington as he was during the Revolutionary War, a 40 something year old man and not the guy we typically see as President on the dollar bill.

@@DMNssms I loved the John Adams series, and I have always liked Morse (though I also always forget his name, just like people tend to do with really good character actors). Personally, I still enjoyed this portrayal (and TURN generally) even more.

Ian Kahn, portrays the the part of General George Washington BRILLIANTLY! With his cunning sound and tonality of his voice, I would cast him for the voice of a dragon.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. Ian Kahn channeled the quiet but dominant presence and thoughtful reserve that Washington was legendary for. Just by being in the room, he commanded everyone there, and merely by looking at him, everyone knew he was the man in charge. And on those few occasions when he let his temper show, few if any dared to question or interrupt him. To me, George Washington remains one of the finest historical examples of how a true leader acts, thinks, and operates.

He played him so craftily, show just what a calculating man Washington was and even if he knew about treachery he understood the eyes of the world were on them and to pick and choose when to act on information. Just also shows he was human after all, with his quick temper and crippling self-doubt. Ian Kahn’s portrayal is just so utterly human. He rose to the challenge despite his own self-doubts about portraying one of the USA’s greatest heros.

I cannot image a better portrayal of George Washington. I was worried about how they would portray Washington when I began watching Turn. I thought that there was no way someone could do him justice, but Ian Kahn was pitch perfect! Absolutely amazing work!

I was an extra in several scenes including the one when Washington came riding into New York after defeating the British. On the way back to the wardrobe tents after the scene was shot, I had the chance to chat with Ian and he was a real nice guy. But the Yorktown scene, when the British commander in chief sent his adjutant to surrender his sword and Ian/Washington made a gesture indicating that HIS second in command was to take the sword…it was awesome.

@Ian Kahn if you are reading this, thank you for uploading this compilation. Thanks to you and Alexander Rose and the producers of Turn, you gave a whole generation of fans as well as portraying a younger GW reminding our nation how blessed we were to have him has our first CIC. You gave him youth, and brought to life all the virtues anyone who studies him sees firsthand, and I know it must have been hard portraying such a prolific real life person and showing him in all his humanity. Just know that this portrayal brought him to life and inspired many to get to know him. Thank you!!

Washington was not an Intellectual or military savant but he had a first-class temperament and set an exemplary example for personal conduct. He, like Abraham Lincoln after him, was the right man at the right time in the right place.

I love your portrayal of General Washington. The scene in Valley Forge was golden. This show is my favorite show ever (tied with the Clone Wars) and your performance as General Washington contributed mightily to making this my favorite show. Beautiful! None of us had the privilege of knowing General Washington, but this is exactly how I imagine his demeanor.

You missed the scene with him at valley forge, confronting the ghost of his brother (confronting his demons and struggles) its brilliant and excellent storytelling because it portrays a famous art done of Washington praying in the snow. THe show tells a version of this story by showing how it was an intense moment of reflection and prayer, as he drew in the pain of what he perceived to be weakness, and discovering strength in the end

The best thing about Washington wasnt his tactical acumen. He wasn’t a great general. But he was a excellent commander in chief. He was an excellent spokesman, he was able to rally his men back from any despair. But what he was the best at. Was knowing who was best suited for what task. Often held back by who congress forced upon him.
