    I paid $190 US for mine, a value price for an integral. The wide handle fits my XL hands nicely with the pommel holding my 4 fingers snuggly. Mine still has the factory edge and is an ok slicer, but struggles a bit on cardboard. Really attractive knife in red w/DLC blade.

    I agree with you. Lionsteel nails the aesthetics almost everytime for me. The blurple TiSpine looks soooooo cool.

    When you pulled out that strider I was just though damn that thing is freaking Bad Ass. Can't wait to see that review the green and stainless looked awesome from the glimpse I saw. The Lion is nice to.

    I always love the look of this one and most of the lionsteel knives... But the width would probably bother me, I doubt I could get my hand into my pocket alongside it very easily. Great video as always!

    Can't believe that knife won , probably because of the one piece handle, if that pivot gets dirty , its a REAL pain in the ass to put the blade back in after you clean the pivot . My vote for blade of the year is the ZT 0920, now thats a great knife.

    I notice some long scratches on your blade is that from sharpening on the work sharp? And is that because of the softer steel. I don't usually see Long scratches like that when you sharpen your other knives.

    • @CedricAda
      @CedricAda  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Troy's Flooring Solutions yeah the high gloss finishes usually do that, and I buff it out before too long with a buffing wheel or high grit wet dry paper

      Cedric & Ada Gear and Outdoors in that case you should do a quick video some time on how you do that I ruined a few of my favorite high shine blades before I got the Lansky system. I 'd love to fix the scratches I caused from trying to learn free hand diamond sharpeners.

    Well tbh 100% I’ve beating on a ganzo 720 I think that’s the one with the axis lock that looks like this amd it’s taken quite a bit more than I should have done . I did lay the edge back . The 440c was really hard for 440 so I’d say their heat treat is good . Spiderco s for sure come hard , it s a noticeable difference when the blade tings. I don’t know if a person can tell a good heat treat bu the sound and feel of steel but it seems to be so a little bit . Crap steel sounds not so compacted amd good stuff tings and rings like a good heat treated brick does

    I like your videos because they provide a good picture of all aspects of the knives you review and your use and sadly slightly abuse to your knives. It gives me chills to see the knife edge chip test on the brick window sill, I do not see the point, but it is your knives to abuse. Keep up the excellent videos. Have a great day. Barry Levitt

    I was going to get this Cedric . How is it today ? It’s like $150 or $160 , red one looks tempting . That doesn’t look like a convex edge. I like the looks , the silver against the black with the crowned blade and convex grind , integral , good steel , price is good comparatively speaking. Haha I see you re did the edge . Cedric was like this isn’t a morakniv and took her to an edge he knows well . 👍👍🥳

    It is a beautifully made knife but knife of the year..not to me. It has innovations but its predecessor the sr1 had most of the same features over a decade ago. I am glad they moved from teflon washers to bearings and added a flipper tab and changed the handle texture but Its a brick in the pocket which i can deal with but the biggest negative for me is the ridiculous thickness behind the edge! Its as thick as some of my fixed blades and i just dont care for that much at all in a folder. I do think the rotolock is kind of neat and it works well while being smooth and easy to operate. the integral design and excellent fit and finish along with a good flipping action on my example are my positives. Im gonna take a note from you and break out the lansky for a 20 dps sharpening before i decide if im gonna sell it off bc right now it wont even cut. Luckily i snagged it on the secondary market in minty condition for $115 US. If i had paid full retail i would have returned it. I also own a lionsteel tre g10 and like it much better. Also a little thick bte but nothing like the absurd sr11 grind and after reprofiling to 17 dps it cuts fine so i will be keeping the tre. Maybe the smaller sr22 would be better with less weight and brick status but is it any thinner bte? Thanks for the review. Should have watched it before buying.

    Hi everyone Hey Pete. I just recently bought a spyderco Resilience and I'm absolutely in love with the Blade size and shape plus the detent and drop shut quality of the knife are amazing I'm wondering if there is another knife from a different maker or even spyderco that matches that size and Grind but is made with a little better materials and a little more attractive. I have considered the spydie Chef are there any others?

    • @CedricAda
      @CedricAda  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Spyderco Police 4 is a similar size and grind (maybe a little bigger?) however is a back lock so a little less fun to play with. Awesome steel on it though. Theres also the Paramilitary 2 if you’ve not considered one. The compression lock is super fun

    • @maddogtroy28
      @maddogtroy28 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually have the police with Ss handles it has a scandi or V grind that's not as smooth and I also have the paramilitary 2 I love the lock and it does have the flat grind its almost as smooth feeling as this resiliance but the blade is a little smaller and its the blade that I'd really like to match. Its like having a portable butcher/boning knife if I can find this blade on an axis lock or compression lock I'd be in love. If I could even just find nicer scale replacements I'd be set. What was the one huge spyderco you showed in one video. I'v been looking for the name of that one.

    I feel like in general every Lionsteel is to thick behind the edge. And that's the only thing I don't like about Lionsteel.. not everyone can just gegrind their edges at home. So just thinning it down behind the edge from the factory would solve that problem.

  • @wilsonline90

  • @EDGEoftheOUTBACK
    @EDGEoftheOUTBACK 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very thick behind the edge looking at the bevel width @ 20dps. Shame

    • @dooshlerd
      @dooshlerd 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      NJMS EDC it's not especially thick behind the edge, what leads you to think it is thick behind the edge is the factory edge angle, Lionsteel puts rather obtuse angles on their knives, leading to a lot of work to put a more appropriate pocket knife edge on.

    • @EDGEoftheOUTBACK
      @EDGEoftheOUTBACK 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Derrik Bruce looking at the width on that edge she's rather thick behind it, the bevel is rather wide for only 20dps. I can see that clearly, if it was 15dps I'd expect that much width. And I'm aware how Lionsteel run their edges.

      I was making fun weird that’s how they say aluminum it does sound what they call wolverines metal bones and claws I guess people from different places sound funny to each other even if they both speak English love your channel it’s a shame u pay double for knives than us in America I guess your far from everywhere that makes knives besides China and your own country.

    If that was my knife I would send it to someone and get it reground into a very high hollow. That would take the rust off as well, and in your case increase the value. Or you can get a ffg going both would be better but I like hollow

  • @MatyasTurk
    @MatyasTurk 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm glad I didn't get this knife. I like the looks, I probably would be able to live with the slipperiness, but that blade would bug me to no end. If the edge is so wide with 20 dps it'd be just ridiculous with the 15 dps I like. And why Sleipner? Why not any stainless steel, that has similar (or way better) edge retention? Who really cares about toughness in an aluminium frame lock knife? (also, with the factory blade geometry You really don't need to worry about toughness at all, M390 could take a beating this thick and chunky)

    • @reinenruud390
      @reinenruud390 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mátyás Türk I have the SR22. Put a 15 dps 30.000 grit edge on it and it totally transforms the knife. Like it very much!

    Good thing I didnt buy it. I almost coughed up €400 for a titanium version of this at one point but I bought a Police 4 instead. Definatley the better deal as an EDC, especiallt to compliment a SAK or Leatherman.

    I know I am a bit late to this review, but I have to comment that this review misses the mark in many ways.
    All your comments about ergonomics are completely valid, however, when talking about the blade steel you evaluate it not on the its advertised purpose but rather some design you wish it to have.
    Your comment about it being an average performing steel was based on edge retention cutting rope. As you pointed out this is advertised as a hard use knife, a much higher edge retention steel like 110v or m390 does not offer the same level of toughness that Sleipner does. It is not advertised as and the blade is not ground to be a perfect slicer. Furthermore, you are criticizing a hard use knife for a thick convex edge is similarly displaced. You should review the knife based on its design, i.e. a hard use folder. Criticizing edge profile and blade steel choices (and hardness choice) on a criteria different from the manufacturer's intent is only valid if the knife is well made for you stated intent, not the knife manufacturers intent.
    As such it is hard to fully respect this review.

      well, each little review maybe forms a complete picture of a knife when taken as a piece of the puzzle.
