I consider myself very lucky in that my fiance is from the Quito suburb of Sangolqui. Because of that I've seen all this and more. There's so much to see in Quito that's off the tourist map, so to speak, that it's mind boggling. I've spent a month in Ecuador with her, my fiance, as a guide. She comes from a very large family, so we always ran into someone she/we know. A few people in Ecuador think I'm either Ecuadorian or Spanish because I'm so comfortable there. My fiance got asked quite a lot where I was from in Ecuador. A neighbor thought I was from Spain. Ecuador has some of the most hospitable and friendly people in the world. I consider Ecuador as my second home. I'm glad you both enjoyed your visit. Enjoying just seeing my second home while away. I miss Ecuador terribly. Blessings, Stephen
Wow Stephen thanks for your great comment! You are so right, Ecuador is a beautiful country and we cannot wait to go back one day. Maybe you can fill us in on some of the more local spots 😊
@@itsdrewandalex Some of the things I saw were what you saw but a bit more. The church that has the gold leaf. It actually caught fire at one time and was under restoration while I was there. I got to go up to the catwalk and roof of that church. It sits almost directly in front of the church built over Aztec ruins in the 1600's. No tour guide is going to get you there. Only a local can do that. It's not anything to brag about, just a different perspective. Again my fiance knows a lot of people. Haha. Let's see...I'm thinking...the Presidential Palace (or whatever it's called...it's been a while) in the square gave tours when I was last there. I'm not sure if they still do, nor the cost, but it's interesting. There's a building either in Quito or Sangolqui that is made entirely of coral. I'm thinking it's in Quito near the drug store in the square but that trip was kind of a blur because I got little sleep the night before because I got hurt in a fall at my fiance's home and was in a bit of pain. In the Sangolqui area is the Condor waterfall. There's two ways to get to that. It's up the side of a volcano. We took the trails though the woods. That is all on foot and a good hike. Mindo Ecuador, down the mountain a bit from Quito has the cascades. You have to go by cable car from one mountain to another to get there. Colleges in Quito often have concerts and art exhibitions that are pretty good. Usually they are posted along walkways at the colleges. Others I think (???) are word of mouth. There's usually some festivals or parades happening around there too, depending on when you're there. I usually go in late August/early September so I don't see everything but have been to a couple. What typically happens is that my fiance will just say, "Ven" and we go. I have no idea half the time where until we get there, sometimes flying by the seat of our pants, yet we always run into someone she knows or someone who knows who she knows. There's a park somewhere outside of Quito that has a bunch of trails in the mountains. We got there easily enough but was late getting out. We would have had a very long walk back to Quito. A car drives down and stops. My fiance talked to the driver. The driver doesn't know her but goes to her college. He gave us a ride to the bus stop in Quito... that's what I mean by seat of our pants. Haha. I tell you what. I'll dig out a book I got at a tourist information building in Sangolqui and talk to my fiance when she has time... getting a masters degree currently and report back with different places you may like to check out. As far as eating, I really like the ice cream and bread shops that are everywhere there. I also like Mora and Morocho (blackberry juice drink and a drink made from corn). Be aware that the water in Sangolqui and Quito is fine to drink. Heading towards Mindo and Esmeraldas (on the coast), if you decide to venture there, get your food and water from Tia...a grocery chain that you may not know about. My fiance is fine with the water outside of Sangolqui and Quito. I got really sick though... something in the water I'm not used to. Blessings, Stephen

Great video, you two. My cousin and I are planning on going to Ecuador in a few years. Our grandma is from Ecuador and my uncle says we still have family there. I would definitely love to see the country and experience the culture from that side of the family.
This video was well done. We will be visiting Quito very soon and will definitely check out these places. Thank you Drew & Alex for the informative video :)
Beautiful video guys BUT you dropped with the food so baad! Haha. I honestly think Ecuador has THE MOST diverse incredible and delicious gastronomy in South America !
Quito is so pretty, I really enjoyed visiting ❤️ I visited all of these except the Teleferico, which I had no idea was there. It looked like so much fun. I don’t know if y’all are going to make your way over to Guayaquil, but if you do, I suggest you visit the.. - Parque de las Iguanas - Walk the Malecon - Ride the Perla Ferris wheel (The Tallest ferris wheel in South America) - Walk through Puerto Santa Ana Casa Pilsener - Visit the Sagrado Corazon de Jesus - Santa Ana Hill - El Faro del Cerro Santa Ana - Walk around the Parque Historico de Guayaquil ( Which is a free zoo/park )
Thank you for watching Bonnie! We are glad you enjoyed 😍and wow!! Thank you SO much for these Guayaquil recommendations. We are going next week and will be filming a video there so this helps a lot ❤️
This seems to be a very charming place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!

Hello, I am planning on traveling to Quito in a few weeks. I love this tip guide! Where you able to go from location to location through taxi or what would you recommend? Also, were these top 5 things completed in one day?
Hey. It depends on how much money you would like to spend. I recommend you to use uber or even trole bus/bus (I mean public transportation). I consider taxi service to be expensive. I'd say you can complete the top 5 in one to two days if you well organize yourself. Email me if you need some help with something! I'm from Quito. Hope you can visit Ecuador and enjoy!
