Portable Hotspot Device, connected via portable hotspot device. 3. Vehicle WiFi, connected via vehicle wifi. I didn't know vehicles had their own wifi...? And for 1 and 2, you have to purchase a separate device? And then pay for cell service, to said device?? Thanks.
Hi there, no worries. #3: Yes, some modern cars do have their own wifi connection, though it is still rare. #2: Yes, you can connect the Thinkware to a hotspot from your phone which just uses your phone data, but given you have to be in the vehicle for that connection, it's not the most useful. #1: Many cell-service providers also offer mobile hotspots that stay in the vehicle, and provide internet in the vehicle. Since this functions similar to your home wifi, you are normally paying monthly for this, but it all depends on your cell service provider. Dash Cams normally don't use very cell service, and 2-3gbs of data a month is often plenty.
My Q1000 was hardwired by Geek Squad. It does not enter parking when car shuts off and am unable to access remote live review when car is off. What would you think the issue is?

Hi, the connected features are great - HOWEVER - am I right in thinking that Thinkware haven’t installed LTE capability and a sim slot? If so, if I’m out and about, with my mobile phone with me, then the dash cam will have no signal. So I can’t do a live view or get notifications anyway. Seems flawed to me. Or, have I totally misunderstood.?? I thought it’d be like the blackvue LTE. Thanks, al in Liverpool UK
Yeah you're correct. You would need to have a dedicated wifi hotspot on in your vehicle while parked to get the cloud notifications etc. But, what else sucks (on tip of that), you can't even use the cloud or do remote live view while using their new Connected. It's like one or the other: Cloud services or the extended parking modes
Hey there. Yes, you are correct, Thinkware units do not currently have LTE or a SIM slot, you'd be using an outside wifi connection, this is an advantage of BlackVue, and addressed directly in the Q & A at the end of the video. As for the other comment here, to clarify, using the extra energy-efficient paring mode with the built-in radar sensor will disable the cloud, as it is unable to be that energy efficient, while staying connected to the internet. All other standard parking modes will work fine with the cloud.
Thank you for your effort, it is very informative, I have observed the following: At 4:57 in the video, you missed showing the process of “Setting the region for your dash cam.” This brings up some questions for me: 1. The region settings do not include all countries, for example, the Middle East. Does this mean that the Thinkware U3000 is not as international/global as the Thinkware U1000 or Blackvue DR970X? Will it not work in countries not included in the Region List? 2. Or is the Thinkware U3000 limited to only those countries listed in the Region List? This information is crucial for customers to know, and I suggest that Thinkware should publish such information on their website to avoid any confusion."
Hi there, thank you for the feedback. Yes, you are correct on the very first connection, there is a region setting option. I believe this is mainly for GPS and location data, but it's possible this is related to the cloud itself. Choosing another country with the same time-zone as your location should prove sufficient. Still, as we are North America only suppliers, this is not something we can directly test, I recommend reaching out to Thinkware support directly. I can say that BlackVue cloud cameras are essentially region-locked for their cloud service, specifically their built-in LTE as LTE systems and regulations differ greatly depending on your Region. Given that Thinkware cameras do not support built-in LTE, leads me to the likelihood that this is not the case.
I just had my Q1000 Dash Cam hardwired into my car. The garage at my dealership did it. I downloaded the Connected App and I’ve gotten to the point of registering but I keep getting an error message. I’ve tried scanning the bar code several times. Is there a trick to this that I’m missing … or is there a way I can input the code manually?
Yes, you need to use the Dash Cam Link app first, and connect the camera to the internet before that QR code is scannable. Check out our guide on that app here: th-cam.com/video/JczwkEqpNtE/w-d-xo.html
My Dashcam is connected and I can see it in the Thinkware Connected app. But i am not able to see any route information on the thinkware connected app. Also, as my dashcam goes in the power saving mode, I cannot use the live features. Anything I am missing in the set up??

Hi Joseph, had asked this same question on one of your earlier reviews on the U3000 camera. Question is regarding the U3000 Thinkware LIVE remote view option...Basically, my intention is to view my car, LIVE from any remote location, even when the car is "SWITCHED OFF" (that's the key word). So my question is, if I connect the U3000 camera (front and rear) with a hardwire kit or if I use an external battery, like the ivolt Xtra or Powercell8, which will actually require me in both of the above cases to connect to the fuse box and this will eventually give the U3000 camera a constant power source alongwith having an internet connection inserted in the usb port of the battery, will I be able to see my car LIVE remotely from any location even when the car is "SWITCHED OFF"? Please let me know - thanks, Terence
Hi there Terence. Yes, through the cloud service of the Thinkware U3000, you can remotely view the camera live. This will require a separate wifi source, connect to the battery pack as you've described, and do keep in mind you'll have to stick to one of the basic parking modes, rather than using the radar feature, which disables advanced features like this to be more energy efficient.

The 300 minutes of remote live-view is monthly. That's 10 minutes a day. It's not possible to use your own SIM card with this unit, as it does not have a SIM slot. You'll be relying on a wifi connection outside of the camera for Thinkware Connected. Using your own SD card is normally fine.

I can confirm that you can use your vehicle's wifi for a remote connection with the Thinkware U3000! Still, this will only work when that wifi connection is on, so if your vehicle wifi turns on and off with the vehicle, the remote connection will not work while parked.

Hey there, sorry to hear you are having issues. Sometimes using the hotspot of the same phone you are trying to complete setup with can be difficult. I recommend having another phone for the hotspot will you register with the other phone.
Once completed, rest assured you can easily add both hotspots to the connections list. Let us know if you have further issues!
@@blackboxmycar I have one more question, I already install my dash cam. Is it available take off the only camera and put camera again? My model is U3000
I cannot get the U3000 to connect to remote live view when using the THINKWARE connected app. I have the camera powered by the OBD module in my car. I am using a separate phone In the car as the hotspot for the camera. I am not receiving any notifications at all in the TW connected app. The app always say low energy and parking mode above the picture of the car on the app. When I click on live view it says use of this service is restricted in ultra power mode. How do I fix this issue.
Hi there. Sounds like your camera is set to a low-power parking mode, which consequently disables cloud features. Please ensure your parking mode is set to motion and impact or time-lapse, instead of energy saving mode 2.0.

@@blackboxmycar thanks for response. I later learned this model don’t have wifi for phone app.
Been using it for a month its like 6 or 7 the sos feature is great still needs in improvement i can see why blackvue is the best when it comes to cloud business. It's such a shame they drop the ball on having the u3000 with built in lte or a item like the cm100 cause 3rd party hot spot doesn't have unlimited battery i know you can charge it but that's more hassle
Thanks for the feedback Captain! Built-in or add-on LTE are very difficult features to provide, but it would definitely be very cool if the U3000 was able to do so.
@@blackboxmycar T700 model does have it.
I bought the 200, and someone hacked my dash cam and even turned off.
Which one is the one hard to hack
Wow, that's crazy, sorry to hear that. Consider changing the password on the camera away from the default.
The Vodafone sim card for the thinkware t700 lte will stop working in August 2024uk now trying to find another v sim provider, not happy, 😡😡😡
Thanks dude
I have a Thinkware T700 with LTE functionality. It is the most frustrating dashcam to set up! I can't get it to work! Shame on you Thinkware! I will never buy a Thinkware dashcam again 😞
