  • @thedungeondelver
    @thedungeondelver 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Couple things...one, John looks like a 70's/80's rock star of the Album Rock variety and I mean that in a very complimentary way. Two, when you guys are cutting donuts, you are displaying a fantastic example of 3d-vectors in play. Here's a bit of trivia that blew my mind when I first heard it. When you're rolling a wheel on a surface, at the contact point between the wheel and the surface, the wheel is at a dead stop. There, it has transferred all of its torque, all of its energy, into the surface. When you guys are spinning on the ice, the energy is attempting to move you forward, but you're altering the vector by shifting your weight and direction and changing its angle, this causes angular velocity, although still at the contact point, the wheel is at a dead stop.

    You're on to something with the stability of the bigger ATCs. The parents always threw the smaller and more inexperienced kids on the smaller bikes. The big kids would ride circles around us while we were getting tossed off and flipping all over the place. This looked like noobs at work and probably caused a lot of injuries, but it was mostly just the heavy, tippy and underpowered machines.

That 90 locked up 3 times I believe from lack of oil. And after adding oil and letting her cool down she pulled hard for the first few pulls and Back to running like a champ. There alot of fun. LOLYiur video brought back alot of great memories...Also the 90 I had also floated . The rim and tire was molded into one. And as long as you didnt get on it it would float right across the water. Out ran a few cops back in the day going across the creeks and river...LMAO...

    I have a huge scar on my arm where my Honda 200S tried to kill me when I was 16. The problem as you said is driving beyond limits. Unfortunately a 3 wheeler does not give you a lot of warning when you've passed its limit until too late and its nimbleness inspires false confidence. I had ridden multiple times a week for about a year. One day a gravel corner I normally slide around in 4th for some reason I went 5th without realizing. By the time I realized I had too much speed I was committed to the corner bit it was trying to top. I tried to pull wide but couldn't do it and ended up hitting the fence beside the road. Flew off and bounced off the fence. Ripped up my shirt on barbed wire, and I bounced off. Landed on my feet. Shredded upper arm, and a splinter in my nose from the fencepost (extremely close call), but otherwise fine. I was very lucky.

      I believe smoke from the head gasket is acting as an extra exhaust to help increase flow through the engine, also good for power

    In '82 when I was 12 I had a '82 Honda ATC 200. I LOVED that bike and I never had any problems riding it. Also my early '90's mullet is jealous of John's...lol

    I’ve had numerous Honda ATCs. Starting with a 90. Then a 110 and 200S and 200 m. Great machines they run forever.

    One of my best memories growing up when a winter in the early 80s. We got a 'snow day' in rural Louisiana because all the roads were iced over, not because of actual snow. A neighbor had a 3 wheeler and we spent most of that day spinning in circles on the road and blasting around the pipeline cuts near our houses. It was a Honda, I think a 180 r 200. So much fun
    Good times.

    I have to agree with you Kevin, Ryan over at FortNine should get one of the larger ATC's and do a reevaluation. Growing up and riding in the 90's and 2000's, nearly everybody we camped with and went riding with in the desert here in Socal had a 3 wheeler. My dad had an old Honda 350X that I rode on numerous occasions, with a little common sense and know how it was a perfectly safe machine. My uncle's Honda 110 on the other hand, regardless of how safe you rode would tip and throw you off every chance it got. In the end it pretty much got reserved for only riding across camp back to your cooler to grab another beer.

    Always liked the 110 more than any of the 125's.... Just put in the 114 rocky kit and clutch and they run forever.
