    Weakened a strength to get rid of a weakness. Bad move.
    The 400 MK 1 is a very good saw and the Mag piston is a very good thing. Of course it was good for short term sales as me and plenty of others bought up the 400s

    Crazy how they justify this. Less power and less weight. Well obviously it’s just better because they said so

  • @ciphercode2298

    Why change the r00 at all,everyone loves it? Nobody was complaining about its weight or performance. The 362 didnt have a justifiable place in the market anymore,but that doesnt mean you should mess with its successor. Just make up your mind and produce a saw that you're gonna stick with and quit trying to be trendy. I own a ms400c and even with a 25" regular rollomatic es it weighs less than my old ms310 with a 20" rollomatic es and produces alot more power. By changing everything youre just messing up the parts availability for those of us that take care of our saws and keep them long term.

    I’m really liking my 400C here in the US. I have added the WestCoast bark box which squeaks out a little extra power. I know tree service outfits that love them also. Just run a thin bar oil because the American version of this saw does not oil all that great. Thanks guys. PS: runs much better with a hungry full skip chain. It will eat more and not rev as high.

    • @christopherlehman4045
      @christopherlehman4045 10 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Pretty sure they are exactly the same minus the electronic carb vs standard. This is also dumb in my opinion, why 2 model numbers for the same saw? This is why they had the c added to the ms462 ect. Was ms 462 for regular carb and 462c for mtronic. The 363 & 400.1 is confusing if indeed it’s exactly the same saw minus a carb. Unless the 363 is choked down like some of the special vs xp series huskies.

      The model running in the video is a pre production / EB saw so isn't necessarily the finished ticket, the plastics where certainly proto / eb anyway. That could potentially affect it eg, MTRONIC program, the exhaust is also an unknown the outlet under the deflector was certainly small, couldn't disassemble to verify if it had any emissions equipment. They did have a static unit on display that looked to be a production version or at least a more refined engineering batch unit. It sounds a bit 500i esque so possibly has a little much intake duration and some slightly different port timing numbers, compared to the ms400.0 until a few reputable builders get hands on we won't know. The 300g lighter thing sounds impressive but that's compared to the 400.0 which is 5.8kg, compared with the 362 it's only 100 grams lighter. Though produces 0.2nm more torque

    • @olli_brb07
      @olli_brb07 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Maybe it's also because the quy using it in the video is running it like a donut

    Dropping the 362 is fine. Its the same price point as the 400. But why mess with the 400? The saw they need to re-vamp is the 462. Put a magnesium piston in it and utilize some other tech to lighten it up and give it more power. The 400 seems like a great saw. Why fix whats not broken.

      Blowdown and other timing of the ports can definitely affect the torque a saw makes. A smaller cylinder of better design can out perform the larger one. Even loosing. 4cc they can still make the same or better power if cylinder is designed correctly.

    This really seems an odd decision driven by wonks rather than chainsaw operators. They should just drop the 362 if that's their prerogative, but dumbing down the current 400 doesn't seem advisable. I was really hoping for an update to the 462, lighter plus more power, but if this is the way they are thinking, perhaps it's best that they leave it alone!

      Back to aluminum alloy from the magnesium alloy of the current 400c.
      They used the mag alloy to lighten the piston up to reduce stress on the 362 crank when going from 59cc to just under 67cc. Now it’s an all new saw with 63cc aluminum piston on a new crankshaft from what I’ve heard.

    Ive never liked the 400... Seams to be a waste of time saw... 13lbs 4.5hp When you can just get a 462 that is 13.5lbs and has 6.0hp... Yes its more money but if you are buying a PRO saw and you are worried about 100 this way or that way you need to buy a 271 for 349.99 and get the free oil or whatever.. ANY tree guy that is doing this as a job wants the BEST most efficient machine to get work done well and fast. 1200 for a new 400 is FOOLISH to me... when you can buy a 462 for what 1350... YEA if its got a 25 inch light bar it might be 1450.. Worth every cent....

      60cc saws to me have a small market and my 362 is a good saw but it just isnt a 70cc and its weight is 3 lbs more then a 50cc... So its kinda just odd... I LOVE LOVE my 261. It is awesome and Light SUPER LIGHT and screams... but its 50cc... You dont want to buck up 25 inch oak rounds all day with it.. Its just NOT a good BIG wood saw to buck... But smaller trees under 18 inches its AWSOME. clean up saw is also Awesome..

      400 is 1100 up here and the 462 is 1350 or so. I’m sure the new 400 will be in between the 362 and current 400 price point to make it a larger spread yet. As far as your logic of the 400 being worthless because they make a 462 for a little more is a bit unrealistic. They make many saws that are close in price, size and weight so may as well just buy a 500i for a little more money because it’s only a little heavier and few hundred more.

      You’ve got that horsepower number for the 400 backwards. It makes 5.4 hp and the 462 makes 5.9, so over $200 in price difference for less than half a horsepower extra. I’ve ran both, there’s not much seat of the pants difference between the two. In my opinion they should’ve kept the 362, bumped up the horsepower on the 400 a little and dropped the 462 instead.

And if you don't mind 1/2 lb more weight go with the 462 . Don't make sense to me. I have a ms 066 that's 20 years old that weights more than I care to carry all day so I bought a 500 I now that's a weight difference!!! And the 500 so far does the job well. I have a couple of ms362's that I will not be replacing for this new model.
