We in india do not have Roxor, the nearest being Thar, and yes mahindra Thar is built to last for decades easily. I've seen few M Jeeps from late 90s still running around particularly in the hilly regions.
You do realize that they don't change it by choice right? They have to meet cafe fuel economy standards otherwise Chrysler will pay a hefty fine for every wrangler manufactured, the wranglers also have to meet federal and state highway safety regulations not only in the USA but Canada, Europe , Australia, and etc. Things like airbags, crumple zones, roll overs. Basically so you can almost walk away from a crash.

Simple Jeep is best Jeep, I do like the Roxor ... Mahindra tried to come into the US a few years back with a truck and 4 door SUV. They even set up a dealer network but there engines could not emissions.
You can fix a lot of the turning issue by re-adjusting the turning stops. They're pretty conservative from the factory (probably to help keep people from rolling it).

Since this a war bred machine, aesthetically it will always look same to preserve the essence of rugged family lines, also it's boxy shape and ultilitarian nature leave no scope for styling enhancements beyond a certain point. Just for your knowledge and clarification and I know you "know the history of the vehicle" - a knockoff means when you copy a thing, but do you know that Willys overland helped set up the initial Mahindra factory lines to produce CJ2-A, CJ-3B after WW2, and those lines albeit modernized still run to these dates, till late 90s Mahindra used to badge these vehicles with jeep logos till the brand was with AMC. The same vehicle is what you are driving so I don't think its a knockoff - it may be cheap which is a good thing, but It is assembled in the USA, the quality control /support is good on these vehicles and they are actual jeeps but Not Jeeps and hence not a knockoff. When you buy your nike's/ under armors/ pumas' /armanis they might be made in Vietnam / Bangladesh /India ? but you still pay the big dollars right, do you call them knockoffs?

As long as people are doing the final assembly themselves, it is legal because they are buying "parts". People can make their own version of any product, the catch is you cannot make them and sell them because the manufacturer owns the copyright for the whole completed product. That does not mean they won't try to sue, anyone can be sued at any time.

I really like these, making it street legal would be perfect. You can drive it daily plus go trail riding without having to tow it there on a trailer. Hope they can keep the price low.
Its actually cheaper in india and comes with a lot of additional features.. May be import duty on the parts makes it costlier.. The indian top model is 3 times less costlier than the american version..

Here in south Dakota you can about get anything legal to road bring title to court house and get license plate few requirements like brake light and mirror but they never check or really care..

The mahindra Thar CRDe is the street legal version and they are way better 106hp with 264 lbs of torque. They are also cheaper than the roxor. They have ac, an infotainment screen hard top ,doors .

Here in India you can find these chugging along remote areas with 10 people and luggage. If am not mistaken it’s the same engine that runs almost all utilitarian mahindras on various levels of tune. The modern mahindras get a better 2 or 2.2L with upto 140+ bhp
Those 2/2.2l 'new' engines are not better for off-road use by any stretch. Their torque comes at a higher rpm than the MDI engines in Roxor. And they are anything but simple.
I think the Mahindra basic diesel and tractor parts would be easier to work on than a jeep. Plus long term reliability, jeeps are not known for that. All steel body. PTO if you need it

Plenty of these in India, but not called Roxer here. It us used mainly by Indian Army, and villagers. It is really popular in Indian deserts. Thar desert. Now Mahindra has upgraded this to Thar jeep, with air bags, ABS etc etc. Much more expensive now in India. But this thing is extremely capable and goes anywhere. Seen lot of practical changes in India over last 75 years.
There’s only one problem with that Is diesel engine is rated for off-road use only because there’s different emissions standards on and off road and def System on it after 2008 EPA standards
The 2000 Volkswagen Jetta TDI Diesel has only got 90 horsepower so the 60 that this has. it'll do just fine it just needs a turbo or just a better or bigger Turbo

Plenty of these in India, but not called Roxer here. It us used mainly by Indian Army, and villagers. It is really popular in Indian deserts. Thar desert. Now Mahindra has upgraded this to Thar jeep, with air bags, ABS etc etc. Much more expensive now in India. But this thing is extremely capable and goes anywhere. Seen lot of practical changes in India over last 75 years.

The 2000 Volkswagen Jetta TDI Diesel has only got 90 horsepower so the 60 that this has. it'll do just fine it just needs a turbo or just a better or bigger Turbo

I have 2nd hand Toyota land cruiser. Not opened up like your Mahindra Roxor. But like you we have cool winters which get down to minus 5 no where as cold as you. So its more of a combination haul veichle like your snow clearer's. Would have liked to seen more off road. Aussie Jeff.
