Throughout the whole pandemic I’ve been trying to properly express a sincere “thank you” to people, as most times I’m out and about with my mask and sunglasses on! I’ve been using the #5 you mentioned, hands together, which seems to get the idea across well enough in the US!
Hi Josh! Great point you've raised: how to be expressive when our face is covered (mask, sunglasses, etc). I think #5 helps achieve the "thank you" you're hoping to convey. Excellent observation. Very apropos as we navigate the New World :)

Awesome! - Cultural indeed as from an Aussie #8 would represent a, give and take, or 'two and fro' reciprocal gesture :)
I’m from the US and that’s how I’ve away interpreted it too (give and take, or maybe a bit of difference between two ideas ).
I don't use gestures too often but your gestures are interesting.
