    Can you do a full review of the gehl I’m really pushing towards picking this up and your really the only person I have found on TH-cam that has it and gives an in depth video on it.

      I can pull one together when it gets a bit warmer out. Do you have any criteria which has led you to the RT105? It is about as good as it gets when it comes to being a small CTL with high lift capacity. That being said, if you don't need small you can get a better deal moving up the size ladder, or if you don't need as much lift you might find other options or even a walk behind are better fits. My main criteria was something I could tow with a half ton...I think if I were to do it over, I probably would just find a cheaper wheeled machine that was same weight with better lift, or I might just go for a walk behind. Little skidsteers are hard to get in and out of so if you work alone you may not like it. Give me some more info on your needs and wants and I can try to give you more insight/info on machine. Thanks!

    ASV's RT 30 is the lightest,but capacity wise,its very lightweight,and needy.

    Bobcat t450 same size machine. It will pickup gehl and put in down . Much quiter and comfortable cab

      @driftlessinwi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The rt105 is 4720 lbs, the T450 is almost a ton more at 6424 lbs. I agree that the Gehl is noisy, but it is much smaller. I needed the lightest skidsteer to tow behind my half ton.

    I like this machine use to be the bob cat T110 i liked but they stopped making that machine the ASV make a similar machine I heard was good not familiar with that one but i like what i see so far.

    I bought a gehl r105 with 18 hours on it. At first it was super noisy and annoying like yours but now after a couple months it’s gotten a lot quieter. Why they didn’t add buttons on the dumb wrist controls beats me. Has yours gotten any quieter?

    • @driftlessinwi
      @driftlessinwi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm around 60 hrs now, still very noisy. Less with more rpms. My Gehl RT210 is so much quieter! The buttons for a third function should have been a no brainer, the cab is too small to use the foot controls for very long, or with boots on. I do love how small it is and the power it has. My biggest gripe is the near 0 clearance to open the door, that coupled with manual handles for changing attachments make switching attachments a lot, a bear. I think they could have done a lot better on the machine than they did, but you buy this machine if you want a tiny, powerful, tracked machine. Thanks for the comment!

    What is that machine in the back ground? Small wheeled excavator?

    Hey thanks for the video! I'm in the market for a small skid steer, are the controls the same as your larger gehl? Any differences on the controls? Have you ever used a grabble bucket with it? Any info will help. The one I'm looking at is a 2020 model it's orange and it has stick like looking controls. Just kinda seemed odd to me. But I haven't gotten time to go operate the machine, hopefully this weekend I will get a chance. I'm mainly going to use it fore grading small driveways and storm clean up around in and around homes that are built very close together. I'll be pulling it with my 16ft dump trailer.

      The big difference with mine is the RT105 has stick controls (direct connection to hydro valves) and the RT210 has pilot (electronic/wire connection to solenoid controlled hydro valves). Pilot valves are much nicer to have and don't wear you out. Both machines have ISO pattern setup, the RT210 can change pattern via the computer, RT105 has to come from factory with your spec. It will run any attachment I have, just be aware that it's lift capacity is limited and things like an auger or trencher will run slower because of lower flow (I have used both those with the RT105). The best attachments I have for it are a 50" 4 in 1 bucket from CID (shown in video), and forks with a homemade grapple arm. My 84" rock grapple is so heavy it uses all the lift capacity of the RT105, so I don't use it unless I am just raking with it or picking up sticks. I will say that you can probably get a much nicer machine with more features for a similar price if you aren't constrained by size and weight. You really pay a premium for the small size and don't get nearly the modern features or durability/capability of larger machines. Every corner is cut to save weight including thickness of steel, size of cab, comfort of cab, noise levels, and various finishes throughout. I would definitely check around if you can to see how other small CTLs compare. Thanks for the comment!

      What size tracks on the gehl 1050? Can u put a wide track on it?

  • @jahzon123
    @jahzon123 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    why did you keep it on rev so high all time ? can you idle in lower after turn it on after cold start, its bad for engine and hydro pomp when oil is to cold

    • @driftlessinwi
      @driftlessinwi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not revved high, it is probably around a third to half throttle for the whole video. The hydro whine is very loud on this machine, it gets a little quieter when the engine is revved all the way up. This little skidsteer has a small diesel engine and it seems to need every ounce of power when doing more heavy duty things. Tracks require lots of power to skid turn. Ideally you keep it revved low and use the foot throttle for power as needed. I couldn't really do that with muck out boots on and while filming. There is very little room in the footwell. Thanks for the comment!

    I was hoping on having another option over the ASV30 but that noise is terrible. I dont think I could handle a whole day listening to that.

    • @driftlessinwi
      @driftlessinwi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the noise is bad. You can wear hearing protection to mitigate (I do if I have to spend a lot of time in the machine). In this category though, the biggest discomfort in my opinion is just the shear size of the cabins, they are tiny and very uncomfortable to get in and out of. So if you have to spend lots of hours in a skidsteer I would recommend finding one that has a comfortable cab that is easy to get in and out of (ie, go bigger...or go with a walk behind if small is more important than anything else).
      Thanks for the comment!

      Honestly should never hesr a hydraulic system that loud, this machine is either very low on fluid allowing the pump to cause heavy cavitation hence the noise. That or there is a pressure relief valve issue. If you ever here hydraulics making that noise, that consistently, shut the machine down and investigate. That noise is far from normal.

      I did, but it's capacity was too low for me, plus I had a Gehl dealer about 3 minutes away.

      You'll never get the undercarriage life out of an ASV unless you're very picky and careful.Ive owned 2 RT 30's.i would buy the gehl over ASV anytime.I've seen so many premature ASV idler failures,its poor engineering.Ride like caddilacs,soft as butter.
