How to Put A Track Back on a CTL Skidsteer in the Field - GEHL RT210

  • I slipped a track for the first time in nearly 10 years of ownership of my Gehl RT210. It happened when working on the shoulder of my driveway. I have discovered that the Gehl undercarriage doesn't like breaker rocks used for the sub grade on roads. I plan to make another video on that soon, but in this one I show how I was able to get the track back on even while the machine was perched precariously on a slope. While I tried to do it all with hand tools, I had to resort to using my wheel excavator because the machine kept sliding off the jacks and I couldn't get it high enough off the ground to slide the track under easily. On a flat solid surface, the Gehl system is easy to use to change, remove, or reinstall a track. Enjoy!
    Thanks for watching!

I just got a 2017 Gehl RT 210 gen 3 w/460 hrs from Equipment Place in PA. Totally a newbie. This was helpful information!

Good video. I have an RT250 and am pretty happy with it. I appreciate you posting videos about the machine and sharing your experience

Good video but if you use cribbing you can pick up the machine with the buck and wood blocks

Agreed, but in this spot every time I used bucket to lift, I slid down the hill more. It was a much steeper slope than it appears in the video. It definitely wasn't ideal, but I got the track back on 😀

Does your machine have ideal tracks?

Yes it does, by Ideal tracks I am assuming you mean auto tensioning. Thanks!

How many ton bottle jack will lift the rear?

I'm sure a 5 ton would do it, but I wouldn't recommend it. I would use at least a 10 ton personally (I used 20 ton jacks in video). Thanks for the question!

If you had used the bucket to push down which would have lifted the machine more you could have slipped it right on..too much contact with the ground on the bottom

Trust me I tried. I was on a side slope so I kept sliding down farther when I used the bucket. On sturdy, flat, level ground this would be pretty easy, but of course the track never comes off in an easy spot :)
