These are the final days of my 10 day Femundsmarka and Rogen backpacking trip in Norway and Sweden. I go from Lower Mosquito Lake, to Long Tarns, further on to Lower Roasten Lake and I climb up and spend the 9th and last night on the top of Stor Svuku mountain. I cowboy camp without my tent on top of the world with the most incredible light through the night. Probably the most scenic night I have ever spent in the outdoors and as close as I have ever been to sleeping in the Midnight Sun. The sun was just below the horizon the entire night for an endless sunset into sunrise. I go down back to Moose RIver/Elgå where I spend a night at Lars Monsens Femunden Lodge after ending the trip.
Wonderful trip. you are looking so happy, warming and proudly. Amazing views that I have never seen midnight sun, sunrise at 03.30 am. It’s so beautiful I appreciate you for sharing. Thank you.
Land of the Midnight Sun! Unbelievable 4 hour sunset/sunrise. The colors just popped. So much beauty is hard to take in. Loved the time lapse with the clouds. Thank you Jarl for going without sleep to film (video) this magnificent view.
So much beauty all around and the freshest water to drink. Your filming is perfect. I feel so calm now after watching this. That sunset!!! Wow wow and wow!!! It's a dream in reality.
The series brings me great joy. Nature is astounding but in Norway it is something extra special. You must have good maps and a keen sense of direction when you go off the trail. Thank You for including us on your travels, especially during this Pandemic time.
I can hardly believe the vastness of this area, so many vistas to behold. And lovely that there are no people apart from those dastardly cairns. What is that yellowish covering on many rocks…is it lichen? And I’m loving Melantopia Into the Thorofare. Gives one a feeling of giddy anticipation . Who knew you were a man of so many talents! Music producer, 3 Norwegian Grammys, adventurer, talented videographer, climber, skier. You are truly a Renaissance man and most unpretentious. You’re appreciated by all of us.
@@NorwegianXploreryour Aeropress intrigued me BTW so I bought one and love how the coffee tastes, smooth and less acidity. For one, it’s perfect. Thanks!
The night on the mountain and the midnight sun was just incredible. I experienced it 4 years ago on a Hurtigruten ship heading north to Kirkenes and was overcome with the light and colors. But yours tops that! And I will watch this again and again. Always amazed by the un-tipped angle of the crescent moon in the far north compared to where I am in Southern California. But yet we share the same moon regardless!
Such beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Like watercolor paintings. I don't blame you for wanting to camp near the lakes. Breathtaking. I am so sorry you had to deal with all of those bugs, however. I think you were definitely on the menu Jarl! The ent forest, and troll crossings....rocks, rocks, rocks! Fantastic! As always, thank you for sharing your experiences with us. Looking forward to the next adventure. :) ♥
Fantastic ! After watching your videos from Jotunheimen, Rondane, Kjerag, Preikestolen and Sarek this is for me the favourite seies so far. The area Femundsmarka almost screams Norway. The landscape is so inviting and you want to go on a hike immediately. The opportunity are big with fishing, canoeing and other water activities. Perfect in my view. That night you were at the top of Stor Vuku had almost a religous experience. I totally understand why you couldn`t sleep. Many thanks for these videos.
Our family enjoy the beautiful trips to the wilderness. Absolutely beautiful and exquisite. We always dirt camp and enjoy the nature and animals. The animals always knows your there. As they always say, always take out what you bring in this way everyone and creatures have a beautiful experience and clean environment. We live near sequoia and kings canyon park.
Tourist-pictures of Norway mainly show its beautiful fjords. I didn't know the inner Norway partly consists of rocky fields, with few trees. (I imagined green alpages with friendly cows) Didn't you ever twist your ankle while filming on those boulder-covered hills ? Virgin nature, desolated scenery, without a single human being. Peacefull indeed. Nothing but the sounds of animals and birds. However !.... what a splendour you show us, dear Jarl ! "Blue" lakes during day, "golden" lakes at night. No darkness. Sunset turns into sunrise between 1.00 and 3.00 a.m. It's really worth missing some sleep to admire that gorgeous colourful phenomenon ! Thank you so much for your effort, Jarl ! You surely enjoyed your waffle + coffee, and perhaps .... a nice soft bed..... Greetings from Belgium, Ghent.
I'm loving this video series. This area looks like it would be wonderful for Nordic skiing, if you like going long distances in open country. It looks like you could ski forever.
The evening of night 9 at 3:00 am was beautiful with the night sky. I can understand why you would be up videoing. Also the lodge at the end celebrating the hike with good food. Thank You for sharing.
How did you ever leave the lakes?? Perfect camp sites you were at, couldn't ask for more.....until the mosquitos come, haha...head to the high country, yes sir. The colors in the sunsets were spectacular to see. Okay, you gonna have to change lures or something, we want to see if you can catch a fish or not, lol. Were the lakes as shallow as they appeared? Thank you for sharing!

On the top of Stor Svuku Mountain? "OTHER-WORLDLY". Whether day or night ("almost"). It seemed like the type of place where one could "easily" have a long discussion with GOD. Did you Norwegian Xplorer or is that too personal of a question? (smiles & hug) Your videos are so very unique & artistic. I feel like if I turn away for a split second that I may miss something. It is a very rare thing to hold a person's attention now-a-days. So? So, "KUDOS TO YOU". The "mirror reflections" in the lakes? Beyond....beyond. I can think of no perfect word to describe the BEAUTY you showed us in those reflections. Well, Norwegian Xplorer, "THANK YOU" for reminding us all of the TRUE wonder in this World. Great video. Beautiful open and wild spaces. Favorite parts were the 'Lord of the Rings' forest and of course the super long sunset-sunrise. I've been in love with the sky all my life. I agree with your disdain for people who leave trash in Nature. When you do a multi-day solo hike on such low frequented trails, don't you worry about injuries?
Thank you Richard, I dont worry much, I do take my precautions and I am very thorough with where I plant my feet so I dont step on a bad rock and stuff like that, but I dont worry much at all…
