This is a 5 day backpacking trip in Rondane National Park in Norway. Rondane is a classic mountain range in the heart of Norway with a very rocky terrain and some amazing peaks. I climb Høgronden, one of the highest peaks in the range, and spend a few days sitting out a storm before attempting to climb the Smiubelgen Pass to get back on trail. I visit Rondvassbu and Bjørnhollia DNT cabins and explore some remote valleys, epic trip in an epic mountain range in the heart of Norway.
You are definitely an ambassador for Norway, Jarl. Beautiful valleys with majestic mountain spires. I loved the green rocks (lichen, I believe) with the river flowing beneath them, just stunning.
Climbed Høgrunden 19 years ago. I remember well jumping from stone to stone in that special landscape. It was July but we met snow flurries at the top. Thanks for a reminder of good memories!
The weather certainly made this part of your journey more diverse and challenging. But also so wonderful. I mean....the rainbows and incredible lighting...just wow! The troll hollows were amazing. I would have a hard time not exploring them and shouting, "Jeg er en trollvenn. La meg passere!" And hopefully, they would believe me. :) The rock formations were like stacks of lichen-covered books thrown everywhere. Incredible. Act 2, Scene lV (Among the Ronde mountains. Sunset. Shining snow peaks all around. Peer Gynt enters, dizzy and bewildered.) "Tower over tower arises! Hei, what a glittering gate! Stand! Will you stand! It's drifting further and further away!" As always, thank you for taking us along your journey Jarl. Looking forward to the next installment! :) ♥
Absolutely stunning. I slowly watched this on and off over 3 work days and it was a wonderful way to pull my mind out of work and back into Norway. I made some notes and will Definitely be going deeper into Rondane some day in the future. Cheers from Boston! - Filip
Thank you so much for posting your backpacking trip. I have backpack several time in Norway and it’s my favourite destination. I have been planning another trip yet with the travel restrictions for the last few years my plans are on hold. Watching your videos allows me to experience the beautiful Norwegian landscapes, you’ve truly captured the essence of the Norwegian mountains. Thanks again. I can’t stop watching, it’s keeping my hopes up that I’ll be back there sooner then later 😊 Tusen takk, Ha det bra!
Imagine hiking up sparagmite is one thing ~ coming down must be another. It appears effortless to you ~ in your nature. The ancient geology of Norway's First National Park is simply out of this world. Sincerely hope you can film one of those trolls soon! Grateful to you for all this beauty you so generously share with your followers.
We were there in early September of 07. Wish I could share the photos as the lichen was in brilliant red, white and gold. The scenery was breathtaking and your video brought it back to us. Darn Pandemic.... but we will go back. The wet stones looked iffy but you made it without falling. When we walked in Rondane, the lichen seemed too beautiful to walk on but we did anyway.as there was no trail. We had no maps which would have helped.
Thank you for your therapeutic videos I've been waiting for this one I even went and got me the best sticky icky hybrid weed ready to go on this virtual trip with you thank you so much
@@NorwegianXplorer i had reminder on but i fell asleep. Sydney time. live is very nice and captivating to speak to you as we experience. next time maybe. i get a lot oyt of watching live like i feel am there. thank you so much.
En el desierto de Atacama también hay refugios en piedras como las que muestras en el video, las usaban los mensajeros del Imperio Inca para resguardarse del frío de la noche y del calor del día... Saludos !!
This was stunning and the valleys were enchanting. I almost saw a troll!!! I think so!! I love it when you film in front of you while walking. I am just glad you dont film every minute of your journeys, cause I would watch every minute of your journeys. Then you would be responsible for my divorce, haha. You must do a re-cap - blooper - dangerous moments - or something film after you are finished showing us these? PLEASE!!!! And my feet hurt after watching you hike this terrain. Amazing job with amazing content. Thanks man!
Jarl, another great hike. The terrain is so different soo many rocks. Question with the occasional bad weather do you read a good book or listen to music? Curious
Hei....we are enjoying your videos in the Norwgian mountains, I especially enjoy the Rondane video. m I was there about 15 yrs ago with my sister and nephew and stayed at the DNT lodge. Unfortunately it was also windy and rainy and fogged in so there was no point in doing any climbs. Your vids remind us of the American Quicksand on the Trail (The Quicksand Show now). He has a clever use of composition, music and filming. I'm sure you'd enjoy it. BTW you may have mentioned it but where are you from in Norway? Live free and hike
@@NorwegianXplorer my Father was from Nord Flatanger up in N Trondelag. However our forelders were from the Haugesund area.....Roseland or Rosebo perhaps...I'm not sure. Looking forward to your Jotunheimen vids as I've been there as well as Lofoten.....

When you were up in the heights in the clouds, I kept hearing "In the Hall of the Mountain King!" Grieg moment. Stay safe!
Haha, this is indeed the right area to hear Grieg!

This is almost like hiking in New England. Except 1000 times better.
Hogronden is only a little bit higher than Mount Washington. But the same extreme climate
Lol, as long as the weather is favourable its great
I am watching the series from the beginning and enjoying it immensely. I am curious: do you also record all the videos in Norwegian?
No I dont record anything in Norwegian
