Other than being one of the lowest cost per bhp car that you can buy on the market now, BYD Seal has quite a few other qualities like its great looks and refined ride that are worth pointing out.

Owned an AWD Seal here in Thailand for a few weeks now - amazing car and great fun to drive. The Glass roof is silver coated and not hot with a sun blind in a bag in the boot. I drive in Eco mode most of the time as it's the most relaxing, but still plenty of punch if you need it. You can access the cooled/heated seats from the aircon screen which is always at the bottom of the screen, I set regen to max and leave it - I only use the break pedal to stop completely. OTA updates are already making improvements to the infotainment system here. Lots of videos on my channel.
Can you use only one pedal mode like tesla?
@@AlbertAlbert_ Not one pedal, you need to touch the break to come to a complete stop. The first part of breaking is regen the final part is friction breaking
@@EcoHouseThailand What a pity 🥲
@@EcoHouseThailand i used to use one pedal mode in tesla
@@AlbertAlbert_ I think you have to drive it yourself and try it. I find the regen level just about perfect. If I’m overtaking, I accelerate, which can take me from 80k to 120k in about a second, I then lift off and the regen slows me down quickly but I’m not head butting the steering wheel, it is steady and controlled. Any more aggressive level of regen would not make the driving experience as enjoyable
Honestly, specs wise as well as interior appearance wise, BYD Seal quite surprised me. Getting a lot of car for the money.
Puts those entry levels conti to shame though they are similar pricing
Bang for money
Wah.....tiong kok is dominating the future of automobile industry loh. So bloody proud of my ancestral country lah:)
best review of BYD seal so far. also great comparing it to the competition
Thank you for your support!
- Jay
I noticed the aftermarket installed dash camera. BYD Seal actually has an integrated dash camera in the box (in front of the rear view mirror) at the top of the front windscreen unless it is an absent equipment for SG market.
Do check out your camera colour setting or sync, the entire video looks like taken during extreme high haze 300+ PSI.
Will sentry mode come back?
It’s really this or the highland. Would love to see a comparison!
Great review. Thank you. I currently own a Stinger and am considering this as a replacement. As you’ve owned a Stinger how would you compare each just from a driver’s perspective. Handling and interior perspective. 👍😎🇦🇺
It's a different kind of fun. If I could've kept the stinger I would, nothing beats that V6 and tail-happy RWD brain in the Stinger, taking a corner at speed, clearing the turn and flooring it out of the turn, or clearing the North-South highway up in Malaysia. That being said, the seal's AWD is more direct and confident, and a definite sleeper, handling-wise. Day-to-day also a lot more cost efficient to be driving like a maniac. Touring body in the Stinger feels more driver-centric while the Seal feels more all-rounded on the inside. Heads-turned and flair definitely goes to the Stinger. If I could, I would pick the Stinger, even if it's slower, imo.
- Jay
@@sgcarmartreviews Thank you. I’ve had cars that cost more than the Stinger however love how it feels and I get compliments each time I fill it up with petrol. What about the stereo? I love the sound from the 15 speakers Harmon Kardon with its 2 subwoofers under each front seat. How does it compare to the 12 in the Seal?
Hi, What kind of dash cam do you have in your car? Do you have one for the back? Tell me if you also have a separate battery for the surveillance mode in Parking mode?
Thank you!
In my opinion, i still love the Byd Atto 3 ev, it is more likeable because many Singaporeans are going for the byd atto 3 cat B because it can charge (150 Kwh) more then Cat a Byd atto 3( 100 Kwh)
I like BYD Seal
Wished there were captions to what he said.
The full glass roof despite being tinted, I wonder how it will fare in our local heat after hours of parking in the hot Sun or driving on the bright sunny day...
On the other note, I would really love to see more Chinese made cars coming to our shores in the near future.
In my experience, while not 100% heat-proof, it does filter out a lot of the heat. That said, I've never gotten into the car and felt like I was baking while with the Seal, which has happened with other glass-roof cars before.
- Jay
The full glass roof in the BYD Seal, while tinted, may still raise concerns about heat buildup during extended periods of parking in direct sunlight or driving on bright, sunny days. It's important to consider the potential for increased interior temperatures and the need for effective climate control to mitigate any discomfort. Additionally, it's worth exploring whether the tinting provides sufficient UV protection to reduce heat absorption and glare. Conducting thorough research or consulting with automotive experts can provide valuable insights into how the full glass roof will perform in your local climate and help you make an informed decision.
@@JennyDelaCruz02 i have a moonroof for the dolphin ER, and it's ok, just turn on your car from the app far far away while walking back to your car.
When you turn on the AC from the app, the AC goes full blast at 7 fan
Significant reduction in heat transmission if it is parked for around 1 hour, and somewhat plateau after that. But I am testing it only with my brother's Toyota SUV..
The seal and audi a6 seems to be same price, which would you get? Do you do any comparison videos btw in your channel
It's a bit of a stretched comparison, as the A6 and Seal are from different segments. It really depends on what you need/are looking for from your car. Me personally at my current needs if it were between the two, I would get the Seal now, probably the A6 when my family is a little larger.
Currently I don't do full-length car content on my own channel while I'm doing car content for Sgcarmart!

Before the model 3 highland refresh this is much better looking, now that the model 3 has a prettier than duck bill face of the old, I reckon they both looks phenomenal, very similar headlights, would give the value to the seal, especially the 3.8 performance, the 3.1 model 3 dual motor long range is still faster. Seen a lot ioniq 6 (more in indonesia) on the road, that is one odd looking car, looks like a porsche yet oddly low and narrow, and the headlights ain't nothing special, spoiler light is cool though, parked Ioniq 6 looks better, it is not a small car, but on the road it looks tiny.
Kat mana korang nak bawak laju2 ni. Singapore kecik kot.
What about the BEEP ALERTs...can they become annoying? (Speed limit for instance) cannot you block the sound Alerts to silence them forever ? Maybe in future updates? ...or to select Rumble alerts instead of sound alerts would be fine.
The thing is that every time you turns the car on, you are forced to disable the Sound Beep Alers again and again, which can result very annoying... I am worried about this aspect really
Yeah manufacturers are forced by countries that require it this way for safety. Sad but true.
Does it has sentry mode?
It does not have sentry mode that Teslas have.
- Jay
i can see excited on his face
Why the car price at the start of the video is so big difference from the price towards the end of the video?
Apologies for the discrepancy, as the specs segment was filmed closer to publish date, and the verdict segment was filmed earlier, and with recent COE price changes, car prices have also been affected. So is it $237k (shown in specifications segment) or $286k (shown in verdict segment)?

Road tax always a killer when considering an EV
You're absolutely right. Road tax can be a significant consideration when evaluating the overall cost of owning an electric vehicle (EV). Some jurisdictions offer incentives or reduced road tax for EVs to encourage their adoption and promote environmentally friendly transportation. It's worth exploring any available incentives or exemptions for EV road tax in your area to better understand the financial implications of owning an electric vehicle. Additionally, as the popularity of EVs continues to grow, there may be ongoing changes to road tax policies that could further benefit EV owners.
Das why miata is always the answer
Not in the UK - no road tax on EV's. That's changing in a couple of years though.
500 km range are probably in eco mode with 100 km/h, in sport mode, count on half less. The seats are not genuine leather, rather made of synthetic leather
Better than that inferior angmoh product with a mad CEO that lives on pure luck
Looks very similar to Model 3
BYD cars kept exploding in China and yet you kept promoting it.
import from HK and save $50k
BYD Seal is more expensive than Tesla Model 3 Highland.
Thanks to competition from BYD, we can now afford to buy Tesla EV. 👍👏💪🇸🇬
Definitely!
The AC charging is slow like hell, cos they shortchanged the Asian market unlike the euro counterparts.
If it makes it better, most EV chargers in Singapore only do fast charging with DC.
@@sgcarmartreviews actually no, most chargers esp those in carparks that the SG govt are installing are majority AC chargers. DC majority only DC50 which is decent at best and is highly contested.
U will be using AC more than u realised, and then realizing how freaking long your charge times are (3.7kw on an 11kw, thats a stupid 22hrs)
How I know? Cos I drive an EV
@@mizaru84
It is precisely why I m not into EVs ~ shortage/limited of DC fast charger.
@@angxiang3186 Tesla's fine if u dont have ur own charger. Superchargers are exclusive to them
@@mizaru84 just use single phase and you’ll get 7kW. You don’t need to use three phases for home charging
