Step into our park and embark on a journey through time as you discover the rich history behind Vogelpark Avifauna. Founded in the garden of the Ten Rhijn estate by the visionary owner, Van den Brink, our park opened its gates on 17th May 1950, marking the beginning of a groundbreaking venture in avian conservation and education. Toucans, symbolizing the park's exotic charm, adorned the posters for our grand opening, and have since become an emblematic feature of our identity.
In 2005, tragedy struck as a devastating fire ravaged our premises, claiming the lives of several beloved birds and causing extensive damage to our facilities. However, through resilience and determination, we rose from the ashes, rebuilding our structures and renewing our commitment to our mission.
In 2013, Vogelpark Avifauna embarked on a new chapter as it transitioned into a foundation, reinforcing its dedication to the welfare of its inhabitants and the enrichment of visitor experiences. With each passing year, we have continued to evolve and innovate, introducing new species and enhancing our park's offerings to delight and inspire our guests.
From the introduction of our first mammals in 2014 to the arrival of endangered red pandas in 2015, Vogelpark Avifauna has remained at the forefront of conservation efforts, pioneering initiatives that promote biodiversity and species preservation.
