Good video as always Mr Ward, can I give a bit of advice to you and anyone reading this,to always wear good gloves when touching any fly tipped waste as it's to late once you've been scratched by a needle. Looking forward to next week's waffle!
Thanks John, I should of worn some but the BBC wanted to film me looking through it and I didn’t have any gloves, hence my picking it up very carefully.
Apologies John, it was very windy and he just had a call to attend something at Spaldings so was in too much of a rush to find some shelter. He was saying how the hare coursing is not as bad as 2 weeks ago, then and Xmas was terrible. He also said how he detests seeing wheel marks over crops! I’ll try and find a cover for the mic.
I used to have one of my Trustees who had previously been a finance director for DEFRA. I used to have interesting discussions with him regarding the work of DEFRA and it became very apparent that it wasn’t so much that they took a particular viewpoint but that they really didn’t understand and have the knowledge to cope with their role. I now have a neighbour who is a chemist working at their Pirbright depot and I think he would agree that they need more knowledge and understanding to cope with what is a wide remit.
I don’t think anything is changed within DEFRA as they still don’t understand the industry. I think we need to get on the farm more and spend less time behind a desk telling us what to do.
Great update as usual, margins getting tighter all the time!! Fly tipping a big problem here in warwickshire as well as farm thefts, sprayers certainly improved from when I worked for a sprayer contractor in the 80s, thankyou for taking the time to produce another lovely video. 👍
Very good video Andrew and I’m glad that you keep bringing up the problems with fly tipping!! It’s rather bad here in the fenland of Cambridgeshire. Fenland Rob
Flytipping really grates my gears, the laws are just not strong enough. When I was in Switzerland in Oct with Rhonda on our train trip, I was amazed how clean it is.
I don’t think we are going to try a Bateman, we will stick with one of the ones we’ve tried, Another update this next week! I did t go to Yams, had a busy week elsewhere!
I think the public are behind us more now than for a very long time. NFU are in a difficult position. If the government are on send and not receive, it’s difficult to get them to change their mind.
it always amazes me that somehow the Police can nail certain perpetrators (tax-paying general public) with significant penalties, but others have - and will continue to do so - get off with a nothing more than slapped wrists

An action packed week this week!
excellent....many thanks....always interesting to hear
Thanks for the update Andrew very informative as usual.
Excellent video as usual 👌 very informative and enjoyable.
Cheers Gordon.
Good video pity you couldn’t hear what the police man was talking about the wind was very bad.

Cheers Peter, sprayers are so high tech now but need to be because of the amount of money going through them.
Great update, great looking sprayer, sheep look happy on the cover crop. Hope you enjoyed your pints.
At least these sheep don’t keep getting out like last years did!

Another good vid andrew, the new payments sound a disaster for anybody who wants to grow food
They are and the environmental ones are not brilliant if you want to help wildlife. Defra do not realise the costs.
Interesting tour round houseman, are you going to try a bateman? Good video again Andrew.Did you get to Yams Show?
I don’t think we are going to try a Bateman, we will stick with one of the ones we’ve tried, Another update this next week! I did t go to Yams, had a busy week elsewhere!
with the very valid points you raise how do you feel the NFU react to them?
It’s very tricky, they do their best but sometimes I think members views show be taken into account more.
Why should Glyphosate have tripled in price?
Fly tipping the bane if any respectable person.
Ten prosecutions is pathetic in a year.
No idea why it’s tripled in price, the rises we are having to deal with are huge, commodity prices need to go higher really.
I think if it was two years ago we all would of been having a go drilling wheat 😅
We’ve had a little rain this week but we are still very dry for Jan.
NFU ARE NOT DOING ENOUGH NEED UNITE FARMERS TOGETHER GET PUBLIC BHIND US IF NOT WE DO NT HAVE POWER TO KEY POLICY

I agree and for only 10 prosecutions in the last year is so bad.
