You shoudl 100 percent build some hotels on the bayside because I feel like it would give it a much more touristy type of look and encourage people to come there more! Also the city is turning out great!
I agree! Some finished resorts, some construction areas, empty lots, fishing industry, and docks mixed into this area will be a great way to show this area in transition.
The miami beach marina is in that spot facing miami. It was actually built in 1985 and was part of the transition of that neighborhood away from a run down industrial area.
I'd love to see a heritage tramline running through the neighbourhood as they seem pretty common in the southern us (New Orleans and Tampa have them), story could be that the city couldn't be bothered removing the tracks when the original service was shut down, and the funding of the new heritage line was a charitable donation from a certain wealthy individual in the city (definitely not a money laundering tax write off from Mr M.B.)
Or do what Fremantle in Western Australia does (all the trams in the Perth-Fremantle metro area having been dismantled in the late 50s): *A tram shaped sight-seeing bus* xD
@@asianjesu5617 I know, right? South street is dying for a median separated tram! -1 (soon 2) train station(s) - A university - A shopping center - A hospital campus - Central Freo itself - A significant industrial park [employment]
Definitely a marina. Take some inspiration from Vice City. And from Google Earth the earliest we can see this area in decent quality is 1995. And it was a marina, some parking lots for tourists and and a couple condos. But nice big parking lots would definitely fit the theme along with a very big marina! Then a condo or two (The Rebecca Towers along that strip were built in the 70s) and lastly a construction site for a new condo. Hell, model it off the construction site from Vice City where we had that terrible mission with the RC helicopter.
I was literally just rewatching some older Sunset City vids and was like "damn it's been a hot minute since the last SC video, wonder when we will get a new one" and now we have been blessed with a new episode, impecable timing
This Summer I went to Miami and Miami Beach and took a cruise there, you made me remember lots of this because your build is giving me the same vibes I had while looking at the cruise balcony! One thing I will always remember is while I was leaving Miami beach on the cruise I saw the beach perfectly in perpendicular to the ship. Seeing that on the right while having really tall sky scrappers on the left while middle tall buildings on the background was something really cool to see. Another good memory is while going back to Miami from the Miami port on the highway and seeing first of all, the tallest skyscrapers I saw in my life blocking the entire city was something really impressive to me. Anyway, I hope I could pass my feeling properly to you and thank for making me remember my trip. Keep going on the build!
two twenty, you have to add the birdcage bar on the ocean drive road, the real life building is called the caryle cafe. great movie from the late 90's but the building I beilive was built in the 80's, its on the main promenade of the road, and would add some great story and character to sunset city. And i fyou don't know what i'm talking about, Its a film called The birdcage (1996)
Loving the series & loving to see my assets being used in your build. I visited Miami in 2020 right before the pandemic & fell in love with the art deco architecture. At the time there were practically no art deco apartments on the workshop so I took it upon myself to build a collection of buildings I found while using google street view. Keep up the great work!
Man I wanna see a sunset city drive video so bad, just one compilation of tons of drives around the city. I want to see this insane level of detail on ground level. Banger video as usual
This video just makes me want to travel back in time and visit not just Miami but 80s USA. The colorful art deco architecture is just beautiful. Even the gas stations looking beautiful is amazing! Also... For the back area of Sunset Beach, I think you should add docks and hangars/werehouses. To me it makes sense since werehouses were easy to destroy and build apartments and it makes sense that there are a few on the island so that people dont have to use those in Sunset City.
I feel like that estate idea was so cool you could have a character Larry Ravioli who is trying to preserve his large house and estate but surround it with buildings and development. It may look out f place but this occurred with the rapid urbanisation and development occurring in Miami around this time. On another note this looks amazing I've been following since springwood and seeing this skill is amazing 🖤🖤
You know, I was around back in 1985...you could do some kind of 80s movie set filming "Back to the Future" in a mall parking lot and use the delorean prop and maybe a film crew
One thing you could try to replace the oil tanks is a dry storage marina. Basically a big wearhouse that has shelves that a forklift stores boats on. IMO a good mix of industrialish looking, but luxury function
You should keep the estate! As a Florida native, I always go down to Ft. Lauderdale Beach, and there's a place called Bonnet House, a museum with a nature reserve kind of thing going on. You could keep the house but shrink the property size as hotels have encroached on it. Good video as always, I cant wait to see what's built next week!
Call it Sunrise Drive because it's facing east over the ocean. The sun will only be over the water in the morning. You can make the road on the other side Sunset Drive.
What I remember most about "the other side" of Miami beach from my vacation is how the roads basically just end in the water. Even though there was modern development on the roads it felt very industrial and outskirt-ish. It was 2009 and not the 80's, still way to make me feel old :D The other thing that really stayed with me (maybe because I'm German) is the Holocaust museum/park next to the botanical garden. We stumbled upon it accidentally and headed in, not knowing what it was, because it had such an eery vibe for a beach-side tourist city. And, man, let me tell you, I still get goosebumps thinking about it.
Dodge island was actually built from material the was dredged from the channel that goes in between Fisher island and South Beach as well as dodge island itself and the causeway. The old Miami harbor used to be next to the Arena. So the project to dredge the path into the harbor to allow bigger ships in, ironically wound up creating an entirely new harbor. Also a note on the little offshoot from the causeway. In miami theres a small manmade island right there and from what i can see thats actually a coast guard station.
The area facing the bay on Sunset Beach could be in a stage of transition from fishing and commercial to condos and resorts. It makes sense to me that a transition like that would've started in the 80s. So maybe a mix of those things next to each other would be a nice contrast. It'd be cool to see a fenced up area that's being prepared for demolition with a sign advertising a new condo/resort development.
Some googling of the construction dates shows a lot of those buildings along the bay in Miami Beach were constructed between the mid 80s to the late 00s. Hope that helps!
I live on south beach, just down the the block from ocean drive. This video was really cool to learn about the history of this place and see it recreated in CS
I just have a little storyline I’d like to put in Patty queen.A family owned corporation started by a Cuban migrant in 1906.the founders name is Maria Kalianopa. She passed away at 83 in 1978.patty queen has been trying to top king buns for years. (I’m not an asset editor but I am suuuuuper passionate about this)!

I think you could replace the oiltanks with a luxerious restaurant. It`s not an industrial thing but i think it could fit in there anyway. Sunset City is great. Your city looks fantastic !
Hey Twodollars. I live on the west coast of Florida in Clearwater and have always been fascinated with the history of the surrounding area because I grew up here. I was amazed to find out that the largest citrus plant in our county was active until 1987. It started as a family business and was bought out in the 80s by Minute Maid (massive juice brand). Thought maybe that might be an idea for something to incorporate. One thing I do know is that Florida in the 80s wasn't completely lost of agriculture and industry in some areas your would not expect. Although it's all gone now, even in the early 2000s there was an orange grove in the middle of my suburban sprawl. Long story short, Florida in the 80s was very confusing and was booming with houses and hotels, but also still had a lot of passenger trains, agriculture, and industry in unlikely places.
My wife and I vacation in Miami Beach every couple of years or so. A decent number of the buildings on the bay side, especially north of the causeway, definitely look 1980's or earlier in their architecture. Some of the shorter mid-rise apartments definitely look 1950's or maybe early '60's given their details- particularly the windows.
Glad to see Sunset City again! Keep in mind that during the 80s, Miami Beach was known for retirees and crimes. something awesome to consider for the future would be an formula one / general race circuit, there are some awesome assets on the workshop and you can even have a propper race start with timed traffic lights!
As for storyline in sunset beach, although Gianni Versace didn’t buy the Versace mansion until the 90’s, the Versace mansion was built in the 1930’s on ocean drive. To bring this into sunset beach, I think it would be perfect to add a fashion designer into the world similarly to Versace who gets caught up in gang related activities (although not intending to) in order to make a name for himself. Maybe he accidentally starts the sunset beach Italian mafia, or just becomes a pawn to wash their dirty money.
The biggest respect I have for 2D20 is that he handles all those mods. I havent played CS for years now because I cant. I cannot load any game and it gives me loads of errors.... :(
It reminds me of the Gold Coast with many hotels and resorts along main beach and then also many tourist attractions. The Gold Coast also has many theme parks which you could also add. You can also put those functional beach assets along the shoreline.
This is a nice rendition of Miami Beach you built for Sunset City. Did you know that at the end of MacArthur Causeway there was a car dealership at the corner of Beach 5th Street and Alton Road called Potamkin Chevrolet at this time and it was very well known? So I'd like a reference to it and I'm thinking that long oval island next to the causeway here can be called "Potamkin Island". After all, Miami and Miami Beach did develop as a sort of _Potemkin city;_ they were collectively known as the Magic City back in the 1920s through the mid 80s.
idea: On sunset beach, there is a man named Timothy Timmens. He is a ex basketball star who has moved to sunset city. No one knows why he moved here. It would be amazing if you did a series that progresses over time, starting in the 1800's, and going through the 1900's and 2000's. It would be even more coller if it was in the west, imagine, from the wild and old west to a modern city.
The actual island in the bay with the rich homes is called Star Island (cause that's where all the celebrities are lol). So maybe you can use that to name your island - like Sun Island, Ray Island, or Constellation Island?
Funny story - Fisher island is private. It used to be owned by several families that split the island amongst several private properties. My mom was a child in one of those families before the island was bought out by a private development firm. I hear stories about the island and it's old history all the time.
You moving the harbor is NOT controversial at all😂 I hated it sm and it took up so much space. Most of all I hated that it just literally doesn’t exist there in real life. I assure you no one wanted it on Miami Beach
I think a person who used to own the industrial place next to that motorway (forgot what it’s called) should now live in one of the houses in the beach area. He’s a person who helps with the changes in the Sunset Beach Area.

🚤 Drug running speed boats played a massive part in the Miami crime scene and this back area could play a massive part in those drug running boats coming over from Cuba etc. Maybe the back area has some run down hotels and fishing, With the odd new complex starting to take off along with old units on the water where these boats can hide in..

Very nice work, I love how you use inspiration from real life miami :-D For the bayside area you asked I would buildt hotels and marinas - even if they werent there in the 80s I think it would fit in very well. I cant wait to see how sunset beach turns out in the next episodes :-) The thing i‘m most looking forward to are the islands with the luxury mansions and yachts :-D :-D
One way to get a good feel for Miami Beach in 1983 would be to play Grand Theft Auto Vice City as it is set in Miami Beach at about this time, although I think it was maybe set for 1986. It’s close though.

P.s does anyone know how to find those ‘red tile’ roads and what they are under on steam shop? Granted, I am yet to try ‘red tile roads search’
When you shave your what, two dollars twenty?! 😂 (11.40 in the video)
you should build a yachtport on the bayside
6:55 the bus has me laughing so hard
when you took a whole episode to build that harbor I was thinking: he will regret this.
also, you NEED to add a Scarface storyline
Sunset beach, the best place to see the sunrise. ;)
I have an idea for the residential island "Craw Bay" As in Crawfish
What about some kind of aquarium/marine bio lab thing on the bayside
port looks way better in its new location. don't know why you didn't think to put it there in the first place.
Can you give me free tickets to Sunset City? 😫😫😍
Really like the episode! Thought I'd just let you know that on google earth you can click the Voyager button and theres an option to have sattelite from the '80s. Its pretty pixelated but it might come in handy
Thank you so much this is so helpful!
@@twodollarstwentyI have pictures of Miami and South Beach that I would love to send to you. Could I DM you on Twitter? The pictures are during the 1980s
Maybe looking at Key West will help kickstart your thinking about this area!
Scare face reminds me of Miami in the 1980s.
Two dillars twenty it will be a great idea if you change the parking in the summer line to the angeled one 👍
On the bay side you should definitely put some taller hotels maybe a bit older and maybe newer.
That causeway doesnt feel all that long when crossing it. The most important feature is the cruise ships along side
Well, make the death Wave be a revolt caused by a kinda incident style like the one with Luther king in 1992 at los angeles
Makes me want to play vice city again
Bro this is amazing 🎉
You should build some kind of historic light house in the Seminole Keys. Maybe it could mark the southernmost point?
How is our planet not lagging with so many props, decals mods and entities...
The universe has a really good graphics card 😂
@@TheSkyGuy77 damn right, propably got a lot of mercury in it instead of copper 😂
you should add something based on the metro rail, tri rail, and brightline and the amtrak if you want to
The show Dexter takes place in Miami. There should be a serial killer on the run in Sunset City.
I saw that Red Rocket, but no nuke, where is it?
