I'm not going to lie, the timelapse was breathtaking. Seeing how the city just grows out from this one central location with streets and neighborhoods being molded from their environment just felt beatifully organic. I absolutely love the timelapses!
Gorgeous builds - those stations were crying out for curved custom platforms and you delivered perfectly! Absolutely love the 45 minute build-cinematic hybrid too - great way to get a lot done quickly!
I think you also need to build a toll tunnel from the Freeway at Matilda Point that then turns to go to the Northern Suburbs of Dundee, like a bypass built a little later on, similar to the NorthConnex or WestConnex tunnels in Sydney.
Time lapses were all great but I loved the first one since it reminded me of a train station near me. It’s alway so satisfy to wake to an Oceania episode! There is also a beach in rosebud that is amazing and also quiet calm that has heaps of tourists but out the back of the bay there is a huge rock that has a huge deep(10 meters) pool under it and you can jump of the (8-15 meter) rock that there are nearly no tourist there.
I think you also need to build a toll tunnel from the Freeway at Matilda Point that then turns to go to the Northern Suburbs of Dundee, like a bypass built a little later on, similar to the NorthConnex or WestConnex tunnels in Sydney.
Fantastic stations - you really nailed the look and feel of the Sydney Suburban rail network. Curved platforms, old-style shelters, and medium density homes with small businesses springing up right next to the station entrance. Absolute perfection!
For the commercial area surrounding the first station, I feel like some more modern apartment buildings adjacent to the train line would be realistic. You see lots of them in Sydney, even at some of the smaller suburban stations
This is unironically one of the best episodes you've made. The 45-minute timelapse experiment was complemented so well with the SimCity 2013 music (which as you said slaps) and it feels like the city truly is growing. Not to mention how much progress you've made in this episode, it's ridiculous!
You should realy add in an abandoned mansion on the coastal cliffside just like the one in Sydney. ❤ Btw I'm glad you came back with the Oceania Videos
I think you also need to build a toll tunnel from the Freeway at Matilda Point that then turns to go to the Northern Suburbs of Dundee, like a bypass built a little later on, similar to the NorthConnex or WestConnex tunnels in Sydney.
The build cinematics turned out beautifully. Truly top tier. Loved the episodes recently. The music has been on-point too! Can't wait to see what you do with SS2
11:11 You can construct a roundabout at the opposite end of that small bridge, with an on- and off-ramp on the hill side of the freeway. Granted, that means you can only access the neighborhood from one direction, but that also means less traffic in the neighborhood itself.
The beach side off- and on ramp can be located at the end of the industrial zone, in the empty triangle bit. The off-ramp can even be built over the train tunnel.
A name for the older train station / suburb would be :west Brandon.also u should add some type of historical bar / pub that has been there for decades or the whole suburb could be known for the bars
I live in a neighborhood on the edge of Boston USA called Jamaica Plain theres an old mansion that they've turned into a community center, when I was a kid they would have movies on an old projector and they have markets year round as well as live concerts, on a hot day it's the most bustling place in the community. I think something like that in this small neighborhood or any other smaller areas of Dundee would really complete it.
The train stop name maybe is associated with some bar or restaurant very famous in the past. Maybe founded by immigrants from Europe so it can have some German or Italian name. Just a suggestion great video as always
And that is where I can step in: Friedrich Müller was a German immigrant who came to Australia in the mid-19th century. He established a farm bearing his name. When the railway came, the government needed a name for the station, and so they selected the name of the local farm and added -ville to it, making it Mullerville. The suburb grew up around it, as 2.20 said. And so, over a century later, Mullerville, once the home of a small family farm, is now an inner suburban neighbourhood.
it's funny hearing how tickets are all electronic. In the U.S., (especially NJ), most stations still have ticket kiosks, and on NJ Transit if you purchase a physical ticket at the machine or kiosk, the conductor will physically hole-punch the ticket still.
Railways (and to some extent, highways) in Sydney originally developed along ridgelines that ran around the harbour and Cumberland plains. This was much cheaper than just flattening the land for rail. You can really see examples of this on the northern line around wollstonecraft, and up the blue mountains. Would be great if one of your new train lines could be developed in a similar fashion. A more historic line that is not as efficient because it is following a ridgeline!
Those timelapses are amazing and same whit the detailing a name for the Quarantine center 'Orkney Housing Center' the name for the Orkney island is scotland
The condensed cinematics are great. Lovely reminder of the tons of work you put in, and we appreciate it! In terms of visitors, I live just north of Washington DC. Museums and monuments are great but I always recommend people visit the parks in the area! Rock Creek Park is a huge area with tons of walking, hiking, and cycling trails. There are tons of wooded trails popular with locals especially if you like biking- Sligo Creek and Anacostia River Trail is a favorite of mine, the Capital Crescent Trail is good too. All paved routes through forested neighborhoods accessible by metro. DC is probably one of the better cities in the US and Canada too for biking in the city itself, with a lot of protected bike lanes and a cheap bikeshare system.

That music does slap. Trying to think of something and an idea that came to mind is infill subdivisions. Land sold off by the council, the state, or other large land holder being developed with distinctly contemporary housing stock (I've noticed developers in Perth seem to be in an intensifying love affair with putting townhouses in their subdivisions now too) amongst a sea of pre-established development. You could even put down a little sea-container sales office.
I'm from Devon in the UK and I absolutely love the stretch of track that runs from Dawlish to Plymouth (My hometown). It sits right against the water and about 10 years ago a storm washed part of the track away. th-cam.com/video/n8HktqrBvoY/w-d-xo.html Once you get through Dawlish the train is in and out of tunnels and cuttings and over viaducts... even as an adult i cant stop myself from just staring out at the wildly changing view.
😁 Funny you bring up Quarantine Station--I had just watched Decoding the Unknown's debunking video of it's haunted nature earlier. How topical. Good work as always Two Dollars
Absolutely amazing! I love the railway assets you used, especially those tunnels. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to make a straight station without considering a curve again, as it seemed to turn out so much better with the curve. Great job!
Here( in germany atleast) some old stagion buildings were either demolished or straight up emptied and sold as housing(or comverted into socil housing, or a youth center) Also as the (suburb) name suggestion maybe : Tarra
This was your best episode in months 2.20!! I absolutely loved the time-lapses. While I enjoy the story telling in Sunset city lately I've found or felt little progress is being made because you keep deleting areas and rebuilding, deleting, rebuilding. This felt like marble mountain or vintage 2.20 builds where something is completed or very close to and we look forward to a new build the next week. I really hope you continue down this path for the remainder of CS:1 and into CS:2. Oh and you are absolutely right... the old school sim city music does slap. Cheers!
Amazing, might be my favourite video of yours and this says a lot! The timelapses were incredibly well done. A lot of buildings plopped in, the necessary detailing performed and a realistic look achieved. Also, the music selection was chef's kiss!
Really loved the episode and the timelapses! Does this mean you'll be starting another town soon in Oceania? I'm curious to see what you'll do with the pink lake, and would love to see a Fremantle-inspired build

16:03 In the early 1900s, a rich family toured young Dundee. They fell in love with the view of the water during their stay and decided to build a house by the waterside. Later, when the city became bigger and the house had been sold, more tourists began exploring Dundee. The new owners of the house decided to convert the house into a hotel. As more tourists began exploring the city, the new owners added more buildings. However, the hotel fell out of business in the 70’s and was abandoned. A few years later, a group of people, mostly from the neighborhood that had developed, started an organization to recognize the building for its history. The building has since been converted into a historic tourist destination but one of the buildings is still kept as a historic hotel.
My idea for the highway connection to the first town: Don’t build one. The town’s residents probably all commuted via rail during the highway boom, and likely would’ve opposed the construction of an off ramp. They likely even blocked the highway from going through their suburb. Of course it’s been a bit of a double edged sword, it led to some blight and lower interest in the 70’s and 80’s, but now it’s seen as a quaint gem close to Dundee
To answer your question on where I send our tourists.. There's quite a big chunck in the city with houses dating back almost 1000 years, unesco protected ofcourse, where downstairs there are many little shops you usually don't see anywhere. People with small businesses thrive there with shops like a boardgame specialized store with the coziest basement where things are sold, but also people gather to play D8D on sundays, handmade furnitures or clothes, art from local artists, antiques, little thriftstores/pottery/nerdy fantasy relics/etcetera and little lunchrooms with the most delicious locally produced food. It's not easy to locate, but a breath of fresh air compared to the standard routes with all the big brands tourists kinda get stuck on usually.
Im loving the series you do such a fantastic job of capturing Australian and New Zealand Cities. Im wondering if its possible to add a smaller second city in Oceania - centred around a river? Australia has so many "river cities" - Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, Parramatta etc. I live in Parramatta and it would be so great to see the people of Oceania try and build a "second CBD" to alleviate some pressure that Dundee is having on its services and infrastructure. Just a suggestion! Keep up the great work!
This is one of the best episodes I have seen. Sure the big infra episodes are awesome but there is something comforting about this episode, that train station and the whole city around it just so so so beautiful and not only that but also the decorationg process with the trees was just a sight to cherish. also that transition shot of slowly zooming out was just perfection.
The production value of the video was fantastic - timelapses are gorgeous, your creativity is mind-boggling and challenges the viewer to try harder in their own efforts. Brilliant, thanks! (From the UK)
I had a great name and idea for the superb station. It should be called Matilda bend for obvious reasons 😅. Since it’s historic it could have a story like it was a key transport hub in and out of Dundee with an old port. Love the series and when is Sunset City caroming back?
I think you also need to build a toll tunnel from the Freeway at Matilda Point that then turns to go to the Northern Suburbs of Dundee, like a bypass built a little later on, similar to the NorthConnex or WestConnex tunnels in Sydney.
This is awesome! I’m not sure if you have done anything like an observation deck looking over to the taller buildings from one of the taller bits of terrain but that would look cool, make it into a nature park or something
@2.20, really with the Timelapse I got goosebumps! Your videos are so beautiful. The suburb Timelapse is great! Keep on making these beautiful videos! And the music… really hits! Love your work buddy!!! ❤❤❤
This would have to be Beecroft station, I grew up at Eastwood, schooled at Epping. Born in Katoomba and now live in Newcastle. Trains have played a huge roll in my life. Love your work👌💯
I REALLY LOVE the Timelapse format for showing us the develop of some parts of the cities. As always you make an amazing job. Thank you for sharing it with us
In Hungary it's not a problem that we have trains right beside the beaches. Just look at lake Balaton. There are train lines 10 meters away from some beach. And it realy has its own vibe. The trains are part of the feeling to be around the Balaton, just like that the MÁV (the hungarian rail administration) can not get the trains to anywhere in time. So its perfectly fine to put a beach next to a train line, especially if its been there for over half a century.
So good. I love those little train station historical towns and you captured it perfectly. Always so much cool history that not many people know about other than those who live there. Keep it up, loved the time-lapses. They felt like the CS2 trailer which I’m thinking maybe you got some inspiration from their editing?
In terms of that highway connection you were thinking about, this reminds me a lot of small towns near where I grew up around Kapiti, where new highway projects have only made the connections that were most convenient to build, letting traffic go along local roads to a bigger intersection if they want to go in a direction that isn't served by their intersection. Could also be the case here (maybe having easy access going away from the city but not toward, or vice versa)
Not sure why, but the name "Crompton" sprang to mind for the neighbourhood when you mentioned the industrial part. There was a man from my hometown of Bolton (UK) called Samuel Crompton who invented the Spinning Mule in the late 18th century which would be widely used in the cotton mills during the Industrial Revolution. In terms of tourist spots his old house called Hall i' th' Wood was turned into a museum, I don't know if many people go there but it's a really interesting place to visit.
An offset single-point interchange would work well. While conventionally expensive in the real world, they are very space efficient and you look scrapped for space on the south side with the suburb, but plenty of room on the north side. I'm thinking you should add the single-point on the opposite side of the highway on the new road you build at 11:16. A large intersection or a roundabout would work as the single-point. Great time lapses as well.
I love the idea of the quarantine facility. If you're not sold on that idea the area could also be re-purposed into military barracks / artillery stuff, left over from the war. They're all over the hills and coastlines around New Zealand. I don't know if you've already done something like that, I haven't watched most of this series.
I think the way you integrated those stair paths to the stations was really nice. And the tunnel exit out from beneath the bridge is clever touch. Bonza.
I love your content, you're style of building really gives me a lot of inspiration for how I build my cities as well. Also an idea for that small station town you started with, why not add like a small fishing pier off the path at the tip of that small peninsula and call it Fishers Point?
As a fellow Sydneysider, there's just something very cozy about seeing those Tangaras make their way through your city. They're great As to you asking about places that tourists often miss - an understated but quite beautiful one in the inner west is the park / trail that hugs the Cooks River. Really good stuff there if you wanted to work sokething similar into your city
First I've seen of your stuff, now I'm floored! 1) 45-min lapse: GREAT and also a real headscratcher. 2) Ought to name it something like Canougha or Kiggawai. 3) Thanks for your content. :D
Man i just love how you make everything look so natural. I understand why you got the job of doing the city for the cities 2 trailers. Everything you do feels so realistic. Can't wait to see you work on cities 2.

In Adelaide we have a single track branch line that runs through a golf course called the Grange line, it would be interesting to see something similar in Dundee. The quarantine station build called should be called The Oceanian Sanatorium For Those Affected by Lunacy.
Great builds man especially the last station, it reminded me over stations like West Hampstead in London the over ground goes around the downtown. The cinematics were great too I feel like it fills up a lot of the map, the new Zealand homes worked perfect
maaaan i used to play simcity 2013 when i was a bit younger, I still love the design and feel that game gave. You can't just go putting the music and not expect me to get emotional >:c Upgrading the mayors mansion, the way the water overlay looked, the little guys standing outside buildings, all the sewage flowing under the streets all at the same time to the dump, ALL while that music was playing. It just bundled all the experiences together in that one song

I think Mander Highlands is a good name, love your builds btw
This is one of the best episodes I have seen.
Sure the big infra episodes are awesome but there is something comforting about this episode, that train station and the whole city around it just so so so beautiful and not only that but also the decorationg process with the trees was just a sight to cherish.
also that transition shot of slowly zooming out was just perfection.
The production value of the video was fantastic - timelapses are gorgeous, your creativity is mind-boggling and challenges the viewer to try harder in their own efforts. Brilliant, thanks! (From the UK)
This is a really cool style. I think the area nearest the hills could have a school complex or some other public services.
Its like you unlocked cities skylines like neo in the matrix, well done!
Awesome episode! Thank you.
Thank you for sharing it with us
This is the first video of yours I watched, and I really enjoyed it! I love how you use real cities to inspire your designs! Can't wait to watch more.
I'd name the neigbourhood smth like Mary Park, it just fits to it for me
In Hungary it's not a problem that we have trains right beside the beaches. Just look at lake Balaton. There are train lines 10 meters away from some beach. And it realy has its own vibe. The trains are part of the feeling to be around the Balaton, just like that the MÁV (the hungarian rail administration) can not get the trains to anywhere in time. So its perfectly fine to put a beach next to a train line, especially if its been there for over half a century.
but Hungary is landlocked
@@TMEOA-Micronation How does that has to do anything with beaches next to train lines? lol
How about a timelapse tutorial? Those cinematics look amazing!
So good. I love those little train station historical towns and you captured it perfectly. Always so much cool history that not many people know about other than those who live there. Keep it up, loved the time-lapses. They felt like the CS2 trailer which I’m thinking maybe you got some inspiration from their editing?
Gotta say, the video quality at this stage is on a different level of amazing. Utterly fantastic work.
Keep up the good work! Oceania is my favorite city!
Probably one of your best videos with the timelapses :) Very, very cool. And the music was spot-on, just fantastic :D
The neighborhood around the first train station should be called something along the lines of Barracuda Beach or something similar
Bonza.
that timelapse (way of "filming", music,...) was magnificent
I love your content, you're style of building really gives me a lot of inspiration for how I build my cities as well. Also an idea for that small station town you started with, why not add like a small fishing pier off the path at the tip of that small peninsula and call it Fishers Point?
Hey Fremantle, my area! Glad to see you take inspo from here, it's a great town.
As a fellow Sydneysider, there's just something very cozy about seeing those Tangaras make their way through your city. They're great
As to you asking about places that tourists often miss - an understated but quite beautiful one in the inner west is the park / trail that hugs the Cooks River.
Thanks man!!

In Adelaide we have a single track branch line that runs through a golf course called the Grange line, it would be interesting to see something similar in Dundee.
The quarantine station build called should be called The Oceanian Sanatorium For Those Affected by Lunacy.
Love these videos. I studied abroad in Wellington for a year and this brings me back. Miss that place
Great builds man especially the last station, it reminded me over stations like West Hampstead in London the over ground goes around the downtown. The cinematics were great too I feel like it fills up a lot of the map, the new Zealand homes worked perfect
Man SimCity soundtrack is so timeless. I still find myself vibing to it whenever I hear it playing.
maaaan i used to play simcity 2013 when i was a bit younger, I still love the design and feel that game gave. You can't just go putting the music and not expect me to get emotional >:c
Upgrading the mayors mansion, the way the water overlay looked, the little guys standing outside buildings, all the sewage flowing under the streets all at the same time to the dump, ALL while that music was playing. It just bundled all the experiences together in that one song
Love seeing you use the Otorohanga train station! We have so many of these along the old passenger lines through NZ
Good to have Oceania back up! Name suggestion for the new suburb/town: Kelton or Kelton Point
YES. My favourite series
the timelapses were awesome man, such beautiful neighborhoods! loved the beaches and custom stations
Man, those custom train stations are one of the true stars of the series
